BACK IN 2000 MY SENIOR YEAR HIGH SCHOOL IN JUNE A FRIEND OF MINE GOT ME A BUCK 309 COMPANION AS A GRADUATION GIFT. I CARRIED IT FROM JUNE 2000 TILL SEPTEMBER 2014 AND THEN BOUGHT A 303 CADET BECAUSE THE MAIN BLADE ON THE 309 WAS GETTING SHARPENED DOWN AFTER BEING CARRIED AND USED EVERYDAY FOR 14 YEARS. I HAVE BEEN USING AND CARRING MY 303 CADET SINCE BUYING IT NEW IN SEPTEMBER 2014 AND IT HAS BEEN USED FOR A LITTLE BIT OF EVERYTHING OVER THE PAST FIVE YEARS FROM A WORK KNIFE TO BEING USED AT MY CAMPER CONSTANTLY. IT DOES NOT TAKE MUCH TO KEEP THIS KNIFE SHARP AT ALL. I WOULD SUGGEST AND RECCOMMEND THE 300 SERIES TO ANYONE WANTING A GOOD KNIFE.
I've carried my 303 for thirty years, and wouldn't be without it. Sharpens easily to a shaving sharp edge which holds up very well. I also have a @309 I've about the same length of time. Buck are the best!
I use the 303 RWS cadet as my edc knife it sharpens to a razor edge on my Spyderco sharp maker. This is my second review of the 303,I ordered three knives and received three perfect knives so I ordered three more for Christmas presents and received three more perfect knives. The majority of my knives are carbon steel, it will be interesting to see how the stainless performs. The fit and finish is excellent and with the rosewood scales and brass bolsters the 303 is a beautiful knife, nothing wrong with caring around a good looking pocket knife. Buck knife company certainly lives up to it's great reputation.
I received three of the cadet 303 RWS knives today, checked them out and they are outstanding. Fit and finish is superb walk and talk is great, so far I have one razor sharp. One will be a Christmas present for my son in law, one goes to my wife for her purse and the last one is all mine. I have a nice collection of really good knives, the 303 cadet RWS is going to be my new E.D.C. I'll be showing it off to my buddies at the V.F.W. Buck is a great company to do business with.
I had a Buck 303 from 1976 until I retired it in 2014. Lots of pruning small scrubs, apples peeled, absessed horses hooves dug out, and was my pocket carried everywhere knife. The new 303 will be used the same. I wear Wrangler jeans and this 303 fits nicely in the watch pocket. Ing It carries well in pocket or watch pocket and does almost all my Stockman 301 will do except the heavy branches. The 303 is my only carving and whittling knife at the courthouse spit and whittle club. I am anxious to get it sharp enough to split a hair as I did with the old one. I truly prefer the straight side blade rather than the hollow grind blade. What is the rationale for the change?
The best pocket knife made. Durable, holds an edge well and the Buck Forever Warranty is fantastic! I carried mu knife 45 years. Sent it in for a tune-up and started over! Bought 2 more for my grandsons.
