I do the same thing with one bullet and it's far more accurate. Try my method, shoot at a bullseye at 50-100 yards with a scooped rifle. Shorter if using a pistol. Now put your sights or cross hairs back on the bullseye and without moving the gun have you or someone else adjust the cross hairs to the bullet hole. Done.
