We have a few of these water bottles at home, and while they hold a lot of water which is nice for being out and about a lot, they leak and the straw has nothing securing it to the lid, so it frequently comes out and I have to uncrew the cap, fish it out, and shove it back in. This is extremely frustrating!
I wanted to love this bottle, and I used it for a couple of years. I really like the straw aspect of it, but it leaks constantly, no matter how full it is. It's leaked with just a little water in the bottom. I replaced the first one, initially, when it started leaking, and then the new one started leaking after about a week and a half. I'm very disappointed.
I love my Eddy water bottles! I have about 4 and use them all the time! In a lot of reviews, I see people complaining about mold in the bite valve - you guys have to pull it off and wash it. The bit valve is removable - put it in your silverware holder in your dishwasher & it will come clean. If you have never done this, you may have to scrub it. I noticed that this was an issue when I got my first bottle, and someone told me you have to remove the bite valve and lo & behold - NO MORE MOLD! :D
About a month ago, I was given an eddy bottle with my company's logo on it, and found myself drinking WAY more water than I usually do. Wanting to keep that bottle at work, I ordered another, and have had it for a couple of weeks now, and am drinking more water at home, too. Having been a tea-drinker for years, this is a huge change (and improvement) in my habits, and I credit the eddy for it! P.S. I've dropped each bottle several times, and neither one shows any effects.
My wife bought me this water bottle as she loves her own, albeit she has the smaller model - I needed a big water bottle for work where I get through quite a lot of water, and the 750ml model seemed good for me. It's a well built bottle - it doesn't leak like in some other reviews, although I find it's better to blow water out of the bite valve and back into the bottle when not drinking it, as otherwise it can pool in the bite valve, and if the valve is used a lot it does loosen which means the water can come out.
My issue is with the mould that some others have been experiencing - it happened to me too, black mould that was very difficult to clean with a cotton bud - some of it came out but there was a residue I simply could not move. So I got a new bite valve - it has put me off using the old valve and I'm sure the same thing will happen to this bite valve eventually - and they are not cheap to replace on an almost monthly basis.
It's a shame, because this is a very decent water bottle for the price - I like the shape, the colour (blue, and the hook which is a good feature - it just needs the bite valve sorting out with the mould issue.
I own 4 bottles and couldn't be happier! They are perfect for everyday life, spill free and dishwasher safe. Have a few times after heavy usage got mold in the mouthpiece but in the dishwasher and it comes out as new again. Have even had juice in it a few times and works like a charm
Arrived in 5 days of ordering. Top on bottle not properly assembled, the top half on the top is not properly locked in leaving a gap and possible place for contamination to occur. Better quality controls would of caught this problem.
Bought this bottle years ago and use it when I go on horse riding. Due to the cleverly shaped handle its easy to get from the saddlebag. And it does not break, very sturdy! But on my last trail I discovered something important. If you get sick to your stomach, never drink straight from the bottle! The bacteria in your mouth will be sucked back into the bottle and you will get worse. Therefore, remove the lid and pour the water either straight into your mouth without your lips getting in touch with the bottle, or use a cup or similar to pour the water into.
I’ve had this for a few months now and I really liked it, until recently it has started leaking like crazy. I’m not sure what happened but every once in a while everything gets soaked because it’s leaking a ridiculous amount of water.
i love this water bottle i use it everyday when i go skating and during the school year i take it everyday to school. the only problem i have had is that the 2 i have had in the past 4 years leak uncontrollabley and for no reason. the bottle will be empty and it will leak whatever liquid remains. it’s all fine and dandy and then it just leaks but some days it doesn’t so???? fix it thanks
I love this water bottle, I genuinely miss it when I forget it and must use a different bottle. I always hate small bottles and before I found this I never got enough water, but with this I stay hydrated and can carry 750 ml.
Got this bottle brand new in December. It is now June, so I have had it an estimated six months. It started leaking about a month and a half ago. The bite valve split, and the handle on top of the lid is cracked down the side. I was so excited about this product, but I am disappointed to see that it has torn up and started leaking so quickly.
An 88 y.o.friend is frequently dehydrated. Her daughter bought her this bottle and she always has it by her side. I was fascinated by the spout and found the item on line. I now have a bottle in every room of the house.
Bought a National Parks edition one at REI and after leaking all over my backpack multiple times it's now consigned to the recycling bin. So much for not buying a disposable bottle. I guess when they say it's "spill-proof" it does not mean it's leak-proof.
Love the bottle. Love the bite valve, however cleaning the bite valve is a problem. I don't want to use harsh chemical (i.e. bleaches and natural methods don't always clean mold from the inside of the valve adequately. And on the website I cannot buy replacements.
I play volleyball, so I always wanted a water bottle that was easy to drink from and didn't leak incase it was hit and knocked over. This bottle fit both of those things. I finally got one, and found that the mouth piece from this is one of the most difficult things I have ever washed. The mouth piece gets moldy very easily. Other than that, I liked the bottle.
I have used this water bottle almost everyday for a year. It comes to work with me everyday. I haven't had any issues with it leaking in my backpack, or mold in the mouth piece. It has taken quite a few drops and is still in great shape! It is a great around the house and going to work water bottle! That being said for my outdoor recreation activities, I use the Camelbak Podium Chill Water bottle instead.
We have tried several different water bottles and spill-proof cups for our kids and I always come back to CamelBak. I bought my first CamelBak off a personal recommendation that these bottles really increased water intake and encouraged drinking water. Now, my husband and I each have the largest Eddy bottles and our kids have the smaller ones. They don't leak, are great for travel, and ordering replacement parts is easy making our bottles last years. In fact, I've only had to buy new bottles because we take them everywhere and sometimes they end up lost.
I bought this bottle for myself because I drink a lot of water but dont want a cup too bulky for a cup holder. Although it is tall it still fits nicely in the cupholder of my car. Its easy to use and I love the nice bright color. The only thing I was dissapointed with was that the top doesnt come apart like the kids eddy for super easy cleaning. I wanted the same easy to remove peices since I will occassionally use it for tea or something that leaves stickyness behind. Otherwise a great bottle!
We have several of these and have found they works well overall. They do have their flaws, though. The mouth piece loses it's "snap-back" ability after several months. Plus, you'll have to be diligent about cleaning the mouth piece, as mold occurs. You just need to clean and disinfect it on a regular basis. We have never had a problem with leaking, as some reviewers have - unless we haven't put the lid on correctly (not suggesting the others have erred).
My family has owned at least 10 Eddy bottles over the past ten years or more and have had this problem with EVERY SINGLE ONE except the very first one. The bite valve stops locking into position after a few weeks or months of normal use. We are an active family and take them to the gym, hiking, swim workouts, etc. Things I love: The carrying loop (I can even carry it with one finger when I am on my beach cruiser!). Wide mouth makes it easy to fill, easy to add ice. Those first few weeks or months when the snap down valve doesn't leak it actually protects the mouthpiece from getting dirty, and can be put in a backpack or purse without worry. Easy to clean, dishwasher safe on top rack. I can take a drink without taking my eyes off the road (a must on the L.A freeways!). Things I don't love: Having to reorder a replacement every time the bite valve leaks. The bite valve leaking when going up in altitude. I could rant for a long time about how many times important items have been SOAKED due to this. Just happened again yesterday to my brand new 2018 planner - AAARGH!. Having to clean the bite valve with bottle brush and q-tips. I only put water in mine, so I don't have to do this too often. The only reason I gave two stars instead of one is because they really do honor their guarantee and send you a new lid.
I got this water bottle because I am a medical student and I am in class alot and need to keep water on me to stay hydrated. I love the bottle, but I cant seem to keep the mouthpiece clean to save my life. I have to wash it out everytime I use it, which has become a hassle. It becomes very cruddy and dirty after one use, and i am not sure how to fix the issue. Also, the bottle leaks when it is left on its side, which is not a good feature.
Had many of these bottles and they’re a great bottle but always have flaws. This one along with two of by others leak everywhere which is highly annoying when it gets over paperwork and what not. Like the idea but not happy with the product.
I bought 5 for gifts, to my friends in Asia. This is the BEST bottle I've ever bought. Never a leak, easy to use for friends with disabilities. Survived many drops and never a problem. Great quality!!!
