The first night I brought this bed home, not my dog but my child fell asleep on it.. lol.. it has been through alot with 3 dogs and foster dogs through the years but still holds up and provides great comfort
I would definitely shy away from this the outer material is awesome and is definitely Carharrt Quality and durability but the interior material feels like shopping bags that have been bagged up and it was mashed down when shipped and it made the padding inside even worse
We bought a bed for each of our German Shepherds. The two beds are about three months old and still in fairly good shape, although on has a few holes in the cover. The covering is tough but not chew proof. I thought it was a good value for the price, appearance and durability.
My dog loves the bed, but it was no match for him when he started chewing. I expected durability coming from Carhartt, but I was disappointed. It would be nice if they sold the liners separately for a replacement.
First let me say i'm a longtime Carhartt customer. I bought the Medium size duck dog bed in classic Carhartt color. less than a week old the bed had lost MOST of its cushion, especially on the front of the bed which had nearly zero cushion.
My 10 year old Golden Retreiver slept on this bed daily for 6 years, then my new Golden puppy grew up on the bed and is now using it daily at two years old. She is hard on equipment but this bed is still like the day it was first bought. WELL WORTH THE PRICE!
you need to make smaller ones so that those of us with multiple dogs can more easily bed them together. i have 8 of the size i just purchased and one of the BIG ones. i believe that you used to make smaller ones.
We received a large Carhartt bed as a gift. We have an American husky and a shepherd, boxer, mastiff mix. Both are approximately 65 lbs, and they don't share well. They also like to chew on their beds, so none of them last longer than a couple of months. We've had this bed for 8 months and not only do they love it so much that they will, on occasion, share it, but they haven't chewed on it! I am ordering a second bed as soon as I finish this review.
I got 3 beds for my chessies. One medium two large. They wash well but the medium cover is slowly being munched on with holes and less than nine months old and torn around the zipper. so need a new cover. I can fix the holes in the bed itself. Just can not figure out how to clean that one. The dogs like them I will send a box of avocados to any one at Carharrt who helps me find a new cover. Straight from our farm SEGrasso
Just picked up the medium size and I’m so excited! We’ve had the large size for about a year now which we purchase right before we got the second dog of the house, our bird dog. We got him as a puppy and , let me tell you, he’s put the big bed through the ringer! Besides some frayed edges that he modified through his teething stages, this bed has held up brilliantly! The cover can easily be zipped off and thrown in the wash! Anyway, just purchased the medium size for our smaller dog because said bird dog figured he’d put little dog’s off brand bed to the test; DID NOT HOLD UP! Thanks for making an insanely durable bed now in both a medium size and large! WELL WORTH THE MONEY!
It’s a hearty dog bed for sure. It would do well outside too. The stuffing is sectioned off in four chunks.. might not be as comfortable as a nice foam bed but my dog still loves it And the cover is easier than most to get on and off for washing
We are on our 4th of these beds. our dog chews them up at the corners. These last longer than any of the others we've tried (although at $70 we're going to look elsewhere for the next one). Unfortunately, you need to just throw away the inside portion upon purchase and replace it with something decent.
Color is very dark brown. Cushion is lumpy and compacted from being stuffed into small box for shipping. We are hoping it will expand and even out, but it will probably take some hands-on effort to do so. Dog seems to like it just fine.
We had to have this bed with our mastiff knowing how carhartt strong it would be. It for sure is a durable material built to last. The bed is a great size for a larger dog. Unfortunately the stuffing inside does not last. We have had for about six months now and have to fix it everyday. By the morning he is laying on the floor, I have resorted to putting blankets in it....wish it had more of a cushion pillow inside
I was excited to find that Carhartt made dog beds as we have two lab puppies that have already chewed through two sets of “indestructible” ballistic beds. The two labs are from the same litter so maybe this will help those deciding. Within hours of placing the beds in their kennel, both had a few nibbles. So we put the ballistic cover (with holes in it) over the Carhartt bed to double triple protect our Carhartt beds. Well, one got the message and never chewed again. The other chewed right through the ballistic, through the Carhartt, through the lining and into the guts. Not a major mess, so we just stuffed that back in and are going to buy another ballistic cover to go of all of it. I sure do wish Carhartt would sell just the covers though because I would rather buy one of those to go over all of it. Now that I have seen the contents of the fill I guess I see why they don’t. It is the remnants of their sewing that makes their fill, so I like that they are recycling! and it works well as a fill on cold concrete floors. But when we have already made a bed purchase, I wish I could buy another cover instead of the $30 one I am buying from somewhere else to cover the holes in yours.
