Yes, the chain is worthless...so go make your own and install it. The sheath is adequate...not bad. This knife is a little stinger. Fits like a glove and is very, very sharp right out of the box. Whenever I start dating some new chick, I have to buy her one because she loves mine so much. You really have to hold this knife to appreciate it.
