The fittings are tight, and the balance sits about 5-6 inches forwards of the cross guard. well tempered and shock resistant against impacts on both the edge and flat. Holds edge well under testing against bamboo, taking dozens of strikes with no notable loss in edge sharpness. There are a couple of glaring flaws that come to mind tho: namely that the finish on the pommel is very scuffed and crudely done around the bottom where the tang sticks out the end; in addition, the blade itself came out of the packaging completely dulled and required extensive manual sharpening to smooth out the damage and return it to a satisfactory sharpness. \r\n\r\nOverall? The blade looks nice, fittings are not perfect, but I would not expect it much better for this price. It cuts well, endures well, balance is fairly good. Blade could be sharper, since it arrived \"dullish\" out of the box and I have to fix it on the water stones. After that, it cuts just well (tatami, tatami+leather, water bottles).
