I have used them for everything from chopping down trees to dressing animals. Unlike many other models (by Cold Steel or others), these are light, simple, and very tough. They drive stakes and nails, chop limbs and bones, break up boxes, cut tree roots, and much else. The are tough; I've never had them crack or chip. The first thing I do is discard the set screw: a tomahawk's best feature is that the handle removes easily for packing and storage. I carry two handles in my vehicle and sometimes when in the field, the short one included and one twice as long that also fits a shovel. Made some modifications to it by removing the black paint, and the set screw. Take this with me on solo light weight camping trips. I separate the handle and head for packing. Use it like a hatchet as a supplement to my knife. Light weight, good value, very handy tool. Its blade edge is fairly small in width, but it works very well to split kindling and chop smaller tree limbs. The hammer head of the Trail Hawk works well for driving tent stakes and other camp chores.
