Piece of junk
Tent not even 8 months old and zippers are fried. Coleman needs to replace Mt tent. Hasn't been used but maybe 4 times. The front zipper won't zip and the dark room zippers won't zip. Coleman needs to replace my $200.00 tent. It's an 8 man dark room technology. You would think that for the price that Coleman would do something. So very unhappy with my purchase. They are suppose to be one of the best tents but it's not here.

Overall, A Great and Spacious Tent!!
We took the tent with us on vacation and set it up in my daughters backyard in rural Michigan, so that my wife and I could sleep under the stars. The packaging says the tent can be erected in 5 minutes, but realistically, it's more like 15 minutes when you add in staking-down the corners and guy wires, especially if it's windy during setup. The quality of the materials and stitching is absolutely perfect. The three mesh wall panels have no holes in them and provide an amazing view of the sky. The rain fly is perfectly sewn and guy wire attachment points are well done. When the rain fly is in place, the tent stays quite dark long after sunrise. Heavy condensation covered the tent and rain fly every night, but the inside stayed nice and dry.

Two very minor issues: 1. Be sure to bar soap the zippers, to make zipping and unzipping smoother and snag-free. 2. While the tent specs say it will sleep 8, realistically, it's more like 4 people "comfortably". We had a queen air mattress in the tent that took up a little more than half of the floor space.

At $200, this is a very fair price for everything that the Dark Room SkyDome has to offer. Overall, we are very pleased with the tent and are looking forward to taking it with us on our future outdoor adventures.

Almost there
I want to like this tent. I wish I could love it. Overall the tent is very good. I like the shape of the poles because it makes for a lot of usable space inside. When we camp we bring a crate for our lab, and we fit just fine with a large dog crate, cots, and and mats for the three kids. The Dark Room tech is awesome. It stays DARK inside there which is perfect for getting the kids to sleep beyond 6 am when you're out in the woods in the summer. If it wasn't for these next two issues I would love this tent. Alas.
First, the door zipper. In all my camping life I have never encountered such a terrible zipper. Every time I use it I have issues. Even the slightest tension on the fabric across the zipper causes it to foul and often times will pull open after the zipper pull goes by. If you pull the floor nice and tight when you stake it, the bottom of the door is nearly impossible to close. The pole for the fly over the door attaches to eyelets about half way up the tent. Those points cause tension across the middle of the door making it difficult to zip down the side. It is the worst zipper ever.
The second is one of those cases that shows innovation doesn't always hit the mark. The poles are actually attached to the tent, but only at the back corners. This is touted as the "5-Minute Setup System", and it in no way lives up to that marketing hype. This is a terrible idea. It does not work. It just makes it harder to deal with the flat tent before you set it up. It makes it harder to lay out and to fold and roll when you're done. Coleman, please do not repeat this feature. It is terrible. I modified the connections so I could remove the poles when I'm putting the tent away.
Anyway, if it wasn't for the Dark Room feature I would kick this tent to the curb just because it's such a pain to deal with the down sides.

Coleman Dark Room is the way to go!
We needed a tent for us (couple and our dog for an upcoming camping trip, we wanted to fit a queen size air mattress and have plenty of room for our luggage and dog bed plus we wanted to be able to stand. We hesitated long and hard between the Coleman Dark Room or a larger one with multiple windows. Well, the reviews here sold us and we couldn’t be happier! This is by far one of the best 8 people tent out there! We camp in a rainforest and endure 24 hours of nonstop rain on arrival. The tent kept us dry and we were able to easily attach a tarp canopy to the front of the rain fly. The best part was showing up at family breakfast at 10:30 am and everyone asked how we managed to sleep in till 10 am. And, must I say, the tent stay dark even with the front window open in the middle of the day for breezy afternoon nap. We’re so glad the Coleman Dark Room was our pick!

Best tent I have ever owned
This is beyond a shadow of a doubt the best tent that I have ever owned. Extremely easy to set up. Water proof and the thicker material makes it much darker during the day which helps keep the tent cooler. No one makes a better ten than this one.

We bought this tent about 3 months for almost $175, for camping trip early October. Which was canceled due to Covid19. But I had already booked in Pismo for the end of October, which did work out. We thought it was going to be so nice, and easy. Read many reviews, that made it sound awesome. So we opened it and laid everything out. Once we tried to assemble and couldn't figure out why it was difficult, how many of the poles went to which side. Then we realized, all the black rubberband cords, inside the post were broken. either from age or use. We finally figured it out, about 45 minute later. Probably an hour. During the time of placing the post, I noticed holes. I thought it was chew marks. Looking closer, seems to be hammer marks in the silver bottom lining. So if it rained, water would definitely get in. Then as we straightened things out. Noticed more of these marks in the base, and in the actually body of the tent. I was so sad. My husband was upset. I took pictures as we were setting up. But it took so long, my husband didn't want to take it apart and try to find a Dicks out in pismo. Once we got home, I realized I can't find my receipt. So, not only do we have a bad used broken tent, but we are stuck with it.
Overall, it was a great tent. I'm afraid to buy another, unless I am able to view in store, to check if it is completely brand new, with no damage. It was spacious. We had a queen size blow up mattress. Still had plenty of room to walk around, place our bags. It is a very nice tent. Thats why I gave it at least 2 stars. It would have probably received 5 stars, if it was not damaged and broken.

Thumbs up!
For the price point it’s a descent tent. It’s true to it’s name, it’s dark, so bring a flashlight. Take off the rain fly and you have lots of light and air flow through the partial mess top. We got rained on during our trip and the rain fly held up well and we stayed dry. Taking the tent down was easy and it fit back into it’s original bag (the bottom expands) after the first use. The size is great, fit 4 adults with ease and room to spare. I gave it 4 stars because there are better tents out there with a much bigger price tag. In addition, I have only used it for one 5 day camping trip, so, I don’t know how it will wear over time.

Excellent Tent. Easy Setup!
This tent was so easy to set up that my 2 kids (13 yrs old set it up in about 10 minutes on their own. It's a really cool tent.

Pro #1 - Easy setup
Pro #2 - the Dark Room is truly very dark. Once you get in and shut the door, it's very dark in the tent.
Pro #3 - When the dark room cover is down, the dome is wide open and breezy. It's perfect.

I can't wait to use it with the family. It's a great size. My family of 6 would do well in it. We also have a 12-person tent for when we are going to be out longer, but I love this one for the darkness. If you like to sleep in a bit, this is perfect.

Perfect for big families
The Coleman darkroom is one of the greatest tents I’ve used. I recently went camping with my family of 4 and extra family, we had 2 more adults staying with us and we all fit. Lives up to the expectations of 90% sun block, which helps keep the tent cool on hot days. I love all the extra pocket space it has. It’s pretty easy and fast to set up as well as putting back away. Can’t wait to be able to use it again
