The quality and strength of materials used to build this trap was superior to my other less expensive trap. Also I needed the larger size for larger raccons as with my other smaller trap I think larger raccoons were able to back out without tripping the lock mechanism. I also liked the small door on top in the back for baiting. One piece of advice: make sure the trap is secured somehow as I had the experience of a raccon rolling it and escaping.
My cats love the boxes the traps came in. Are used the traps to take my neighbors cats to get neutered as ferrules.
I bought two traps one was a little bit larger I liked it better. Both traps were able to catch cats. It took a minute to understand how to set the trap. My cats love the boxes the traps came in. Are used the traps to take my neighbors cats to get neutered as ferrules.
I had been borrowing my dad's trap until I decided to buy my own. When I read reviews online for similar traps people commented on how the coons can get out the bait door (at the top back of the trap), my first coon wasn't smart enough, but the second one was, so I plan to wire that shut (I don't use it anyway). Other than that it is a great trap, easy to set, easy to open (just flip it upside down). I hope to use it for many years to come!
I borrowed one of these from a friend before buying my own traps for pests. The ones I bought cost less, but a raccoon damaged the trap door and broke out of that one. i bought this to replace it. The 'coons will have a harder time getting out of this one.
