My review is solely based on the quality of the duffle. I bought it for traveling with but won’t be using it for another month or so. I’ll be traveling to the east coast from the west coast to visit family.
The quality looks exceptional and the size will be perfect. I’m an XL guy, with that said, my clothes are bigger and need that extra room. The zipper is nice and big, easy to use and damn brassy! I bought the toiletries bag to go with it. I look forward to using it. Once I use it, maybe I’ll leave another review.
I purchased this bag to complete a three piece set and depending on travel needs, each bag will serve a purpose. It is a heavy duty and high quality bag, but seems better suited for hauling and storing gear and equipment rather than as travel bag. This bag is perfect for packing hunting or cold weather gear. On ice fishing trips to Upper Red Lake or Lake of the Woods in northern Minnesota, this bag will be perfect for packing my wool overalls, mad bomber hat and extra hoodie sweatshirts. May also use it to keep my Carhartt overalls, Sorel winter boots, and extra gloves and hats packed in my Jeep Wrangler during the winter months in Minnesota.
EXPENSIVE, YES! But, if you demand the best and are willing to spend the small difference between a mediocre bag and the best, but the filison. I read through the negatives in the review section and found them to have no merit. I have two, one in Dark Blue and one in tan. I use them and love them.
My favorite piece of Filson luggage. The Large Duffle embodies the romance of travel & adventure. It's roomy and heavy-duty. Must be checked-in when flying. I spent 6 months in the Indian Himalayas with mine strapped to the roof of a jeep. It just laughed off the elements and abrasion. When not traveling, it stores my winter gear perfectly. Is it possible to form a bond with the kit you travel with? I believe so.
I received this bag for Christmas last year, it’s a great product and I hope to put as many years and miles on mine as those who have attested to its workmanship. Heavy duty zipped and the interior pockets my favorite features, looking forward to using this I several upcoming trips.
Bought 2 large duffel bags. The quality, detailing and workmanship are very good. These bags should last us for years and even hold up to airline baggage handlers!! Very nicely packaged and the delivery was very prompt.
Great and well styled bag. Not very water repellant though. Structurally also sound uptill now. Will probably be purchasing another item soon. Although the designs are very old school they can be timeless
I just received the large Duffle today, and it has already exceeded my expectations! The high quality materials and craftsmanship is apparent at the first glance. The large is perfect for those trips when you need to check a bag, and for camping trips.
I first purchased this duffel in the mid-1990s, a couple of Filson owners ago. The bag is still living up to the name, and I have bought another. I am still buying Filson, but I do miss the old offerings.
Durability, quality, and exquisite finish are the hallmarks of this duffle and every other Filson product I’ve purchased. The pride in workmanship is evident in every stitch. My Filson products are instant heirlooms to be handed down in my family for generations.
Just received this duffle so can't comment on function or durability yet. However, since delivery I have frequently imagined my traveling to remote and rugged destinations, while sporting this awesome bag.
Great looking bag! No doubt it will be enjoyed for the one it was purchased for. The best part is the subtle location if the monogram! that's right, I wrote subtle, for those who don't feel the need to say "look at me" perfect.
