VERY soft midsole. Almost too squishy at the heel. Perfect for me, as I purchased them as strictly as casual, daily walkers, but I would caution against those looking for more stability or ground feel. 4.5 seems more realistic, as these are absolutely difficult to so much as job. I decided to purchase the 4E/Extra Wide width due to a right foot bunion condition that was causing me some discomfort The difference to me between 2E Wide and 4E Extra Wide is barely detectable to me. I also have Hoka Bondi shoes which provides similar maximum cushion feel. The choice between the NB or Hoka shoe is based on personal preference and desired style.
