I bought this Garmin Vivoactive 3 8 months ago and I called support for battery issues twice already, which didn't help much since the wait time is too long I just opted on charging the watch every other day. I have reset the watch back to default configuration and the battery still didn't improve. Now on its 8th month the battery won't even last 18 hours. Data wise, I could say the data it produce is at par with other wearables in the market. I have been a wearable user for more than a decade now and this is the worst smartch watch that I have ever used and bought.
I bought this a few weeks ago and it is as if I bought a cheap toy that just uses any movement as steps. While I was a passenger sitting in a car it was recording that I was climbing steps. It says I’m asleep, when I’m awake watching TV. I’ve had a similar device to this one previously and it was much more accurate. It didn’t cost me nearly as much as the Garman Vivo active 3. I wish I could return it for a refund! It’s junk
Hi I am on my third vivoactive 3 because of battery issues. I got the replacement, which is new, I charged it to 100% last night and just looked down at my watch and it was dead so I am charging it now. (Today is Tuesday so it was less than 24 hrs gay is died from a full change. I really just want a replacement of a different watch since I’m on my third.
I bought this Garmin 3 weeks ago and while I thought it was kinks, I’m not sure this product is suitable for purpose, the connectivity to the phone constantly drops out- 15-20 times a day at a minimum, the battery life is maybe 5 days MAX. It buzzes throughout the night and the lights come on even if on DND. I find the design lovely and the ability to change the face wonderful. But I am struggling to Love this watch as i can’t even wear it to bed anymore as it is disrupting my sleep . I wish this was as good as previous products, I feel there. May be a fault with this watch however when attempting to return to the stores they said it was normal. Unfortunately after outlaying so much money I can’t afford to just buy another watch. Disappointing. Would not recommend.
Recently purchased online after reading a lot of good reviews. Easy to use, settings were easy to change to suit my needs. Reason I purchased was to track steps, monitor heart rate and monitor activity. So far so good. Two staff members at my work each have one and love theirs also.
I am a pretty active person and when I workout I sweat. The vivoactive 3 fits comfortably without squeezing or sliding on my sweaty arm. The workout options are quick and easy to use. I was concerned about having to use the push button to start/stop activities, but I haven't had an activity prematurely stop yet. I like that can customize the watch face - making it just a little more like me than an out of the box version that lots of people have. Other things I love: GPS, move reminders, how easily it paired with my android phone, easy charging, and tons of little things. Normal daily use (no activities or GPS use) will wear the battery down to the mid eighty percentage. Charging is pretty quick... A daily dose of thirty minutes and it is back to the high nineties if not one hundred percent.
I regularly do aquaerobis. Tried to make a custom workout .. didnt fit the mould. What i managed to input using the phone doesnt appear on the device. Only hold its charge for a day with gps activated. Limited monitoring with out gps. Lots of $$$ for extremely little reward unless i want to monitor my heart rate or count my steps. A thoughtful gift.. very disappointed.
I love this watch and all the functions, however, I wore it swimming and after less than a month the watch died on one of my swims. It was replaced immediately with no question but as it is meant to be water resistant to 50m I was very disappointed.
As a golf watch it's only average. Searching gps is slow. Connect needs way too many permissions. It should be able to operate completely without internet access. Major flaw is golf courses are not stored on the watch!!!
I got this as a gift a week ago. Was really impressed with the features, but has since found it doesn't send my notifications through (all the settings checked to send notifications at all times), music controls only seem to work sometimes with google music, not Joox which is my main music source... Has a great workout feature, but doesn't count reps properly when doing the workout and definitely doesn't count all the flights of steps I take up to work every day...Minor issues, but would be great if they work as advertised.
This is a great smart for the price point. I would happily give it 5 star if the band wasn't so unbelievably bad. The silicone band get super warm and constantly made my skin irritated, I had to replace the band with a stainless steel band. Once I replaced the band, its a fantastic smart watch. Get it together Garmin, stop cheeping out on a good product.
Got my watch a few days ago. Have had basic garmin for years. Downloaded some watch faces and widgets through connect IQ, within an hour, they all disappear and give a IQ! messages. Have deleted and redownloaded. Seems to be a common issue on the forums.

As stated.. my mind/eye & hearing take a moment to connect. I can say I'm looking forward to My V3 to boost my positive actions on a daily basis (without intruding on my budget for the new year). I've heard from others how "easy" it is … it's the reason I received it for Christmas.
I purchased this watch because it was one of the compatible wearables with half marathon training via Garmin Connect. I choose the Galloway plan which includes walking intervals. Alerts do not go off on this watch using the coaching plans which makes it completely useless. I can't set up the plan using the typical alerts because it will make my training plan workout as missed. So bummed!
My $99 Fitbit Alta HR worked better as a fitness tracker in every way. The sleep stats are wildly inaccurate - having me asleep despite having turned my alarm off twice. Thinking of returning it as it doesn’t do what it is advertised to do. Just have to work out how to ask my partner who was so excited to gift this to me (Because I told him how much I wanted one based on what it is advertised to do). I see now people have been complaining about the sleep tracking for over a year with no action by Garmin.
I have had this device for a few weeks. I previously had the original vivo watch and I did enjoy it since a lot of different activities were offered. The available activities is also what drew me to the vivo3. I run, swim, bike and play golf so this does feel like the perfect watch for a reasonable price. I enjoy the watch face much more than my vivo1. The touch screen is easier to navigate and the backlight performs much better in all conditions. The tracking is good. I was interested in a HR watch so the fact that the vivo3 had it was also a plus. I question the HR values at times, but I am trying to validate with other monitors I have. The only disappointing thing so far is the battery life. One of the main reasons I went to replace my vivo1 was because of the poor battery performance (after 3 years this is to be expected). However, I feel my vivo3 isnt much better than my 3 year old vivo 1 though it is brand new. I am guessing since it is consistently monitoring HR, the battery drains faster. Overall a good watch and it accomplishes everything I need it for. Just wish I didn't have to charge it so often.
It is a great product I recommend buying it. It's very easy to figure out how to operate and there is only one button on the side so it isn't confusing. You can customise practically everything to fit your personal needs. It comes in a variety of colours and fits my wrist perfectly. Nice and expandable so anyone can wear it. It doesn't matter what gender because it suits all with it's wide range of sizes, colours and isn't too girly or too boyish. I recommended it to my friends and they all got one as well. Very pleased with the purchase and I am going to buy it for my brother's birthday!
I bought vivoactive 3 from Amazon for using in China, but there is no Chinese I can choose, so the push notifications are unreadable codes。I am wondering the GPS in China probably cannot be used neither.
I am happy with it so far, but I noticed today that when in the pool the watch doesn't record the distance when I am using a kick board and only kicking. As a result, my workout record is missing 400 m of kick. It records full swimming no problem, but I am wondering if there is a function in the watch where this distance will be included when using a kick board only.
I bought this on Black Friday and received it yesterday after waiting more than 6 months to save up for it. Such a disappointment--the screen is not well calibrated, causing issues trying to select activities, or even get the screen to respond; the alarm did not go off this morning; the type on the screen is far too large for the space, which weirdly cuts off messages, and there doesn't appear to be a way to correct that setting; and the set up for favorite activities is not intuitive, not that I can start them anyway since I can't click on that part of the screen. Very disappointing since my mother and fiance both love their Garmin watches.
This watch is really uncomfortable. There is never a point where it's on my hand out of the water, and I'm unaware of it. If I were a tiny little waif that would be one thing. But I ain't. Adjusting the band looser or tighter just moves the pressure point, but doesn't make the irritation stop. The band that it came with may be part of the problem so it's possible a third party band might help, and I'll explore that possibility if the device appears to be good at tracking pool swims. I'm on day 2, and giving it a week (or until it starts leaving marks) before returning it. I'll update the review as initial impressions change.
General observations thus far: 1. On a personal note, there is nothing I hate more than being forced to have goals that aren't MY goals. Example: Garmin wants me to set a goal that requires me to document how much water I drink. This is a goal which I will not EVER fulfill, not because I don't drink water or fail to pay attention to the water I drink, but because I'm not willing to invest time maintaining a database of the each glass of water I drink. I'm willing to concede that there may be people who can't handle hydrating themselves without a technological intervention. I'm not one of them. Since the cups of water seems to count toward some daily goal score, Garmin has made a design decision that robs the device of a function that I would have liked to use by forcing me to perform daily data entry for a function I neither want nor need. They could have let me set it to 0 and simply ignore it, and it wouldn't have even been worthy of comment.
2. Specifically relating to step goals: I'm stuck with a useless daily goal. It's low for a normal day, and high for a bad one. I have a high weekly goal and a low daily one on my current device (a fitbit). Forcing a customer to stress a chronic injury should never be a goal, and this falls under the heading of #1: it's not my goal. I never carried a tracker before the knee injury; the tracker was a tool that let me manage the injury better than I could on my own. I could tell what I'd done in the days up to the point where it hurt, and it made it possible to inch it up the level of activity without doing damage that would result in days or weeks of downtime. I'm investigating if there's existing third party software or a toolkit of some sort that would allow better customization for this kind of thing in the Garmin world. The takeaway here is that the vanilla Garmin user experience will not be optimal if you expect to use the tracker for larger issues surrounding a chronic injury. Given that most athletes have at least one of those and the population is aging, it'd be a good feature to add.
3. The main reason I got this watch was because I wanted a smart watch, but also swim tracking with GPS for open water, so while the goal thing is my bete noir, and the clunky feel and band are becoming actively painful as the days go by, if I only had to use it in the water, I could stand it. The pool was the one place I wasn't aware there was something causing friction on my wrist. Towards that end: 3a If you are in well used swim goggles, or need vision correction, the controls are harder than they should be while you're on a pool deck or at the end of a lane. 3b: it takes far too long to back out of an oops when you record an activity that you didn't mean to (or if you were learning). Then they have to be manually deleted one by one. A standalone workout of 17 seconds is probably not an actual swim and if you're doing sprint timings, you probably have a few of them side by side rather than standalone workouts of a single lap. 3c: I'd recorded a few fake swims practicing how to use the device before its maiden voyage. So it was a huge disappointment when I got to the pool that I kept getting settings rather than swim tracking. It's bad manners to spend more than a few seconds hogging a lane trying to get tracking started, so after a downright rude 4 minutes, I gave up on it and started the first warmup set. I tried again before the second set and had the same thing happen. So after somewhere between 2.5 and 3k without tracking and having lost workout time to equipment not behaving as expected, I got into the shower. Lo and behold, it started tracking a swim without my actually doing anything I was aware of, which made the whole user experience that much worse.
tldr: watch is uncomfortable and forces you to set goals that are not yours. I'm 0/1 in getting swim tracking to track a swim, but 8/8 in tracking things that are not swims.
Watch works well especially when compared to other smart watches. However, extremely disappointed in the display. Doesn’t even come close to the advertised pictures. It has a faded purple background color that won’t change. What few colors it attempts to display are also dull / faded. Display brightness has to be kept low or it consumes too much battery life not even considering the higher drain when using GPS. Don’t be fooled by the advertisements nor the connect apps because what you see is not what you get!!!
I bought mine 2 days ago and it does not hold a charge, time when I run, properly count my steps (it said 6504 after running nearly 9 miles) or link properly to my phone...help!!! I finally gave in and purchased a Garmin, only to be more frustrated than ever before experienced with previous smart watches/fitness trackers.
I started having problems with my first Vivoactive 3 after several months of use not charging. So after contacting Garmin I sent it in to get repaired. I love the watch but I think there is still a problem with the USB connection in the back of the watch. I got a refurbished watch back after about 10 days and notice a similar issue with the USB connection. I'm hoping it will work for. Will take it for a test run in the morning.
Nice watch works well, the two problems I have is that not all Apps, widjits, date fields, or Watch faces can be downloaded, Garmin said I should contact the developer, Garmin should contact them. Other problem is Garmin Pay, it is very limited as to where it can be used, I live in Prince Edward Island Canada and there is no bank that presently works with Garmin, Garmin said I should talk to my bank, Garmin should negotiate with the banks. Other than that it’s a good watch.
