I prefer the .17 to a 22 lr, I just like shooting it better, it doesn't ricochet as much, and it doesn't cost too much more for ammo. I always wanted a Henry lever gun, chose the .17 just because. This will be my go to gun for varmints around the house. I did pick up the youth 22 at the same time for my youngest to shoot. They are really fun guns to plink with. I did have one issue, the rear sight wouldn't go low enough to zero. I needed to take it off and file some material off the sight so it would sit lower on the barrel. Not a big deal and only took 10 minutes, but really shouldn't have to do that on a new gun.
