I had an older version that I used and loved for nearly 30 years, but the salt air in Hawaii made the old style metal/nylon zippers corrode and lock up. I finally couldn’t open them any more.\nSo I just purchased this one and it’s great. The only thing I miss is that the old one was molded so it would leave airspace between my back and the backpack. That was really nice! I'm 5'11\" 195lbs with a 36\" waist.\n\nFit was good once I dialed in the hip belt & shoulder straps.\n\nWater stayed surprisingly cold/cool all day long.\n\nDecent interior space. Definitely want to pack flat items if possible. Though tha kangaroo pouch is really helpful.\n\nI went with the 8L w/ daisy chain because I wanted thet option to hang sandals from after hiking through water. The daisy chain higher up was was great, but this bottom one broke on day 3 with a pair of sandals connected to both bottom loops using the carabiner in the photo.\n\nBesides that, I read enjoyed the pack.\n\nI'll try to exchange or upgrade now that I'm back in the states.
