This is my 2nd crossbow and I love it. It's compact design is great for hunting from a treestand. The reverse limbs puts the weight in the center of bow instead of on the front end like traditional crossbows. This allows for a steady hold and better off hand shooting. This is a quality crossbow with a great warranty.
The bow is great but it’s taken a bit to get used to the reverse draw. Had my previous Horton Legend Team Realtrre 9 years and was really spoiled by its accuracy and dependability. It was more horizontally balanced than the Vortec because of the wider limbs so It doesn’t sit as well on my shooting stick and shooting rail. Maybe if the hand grip was more square it wouldn’t tend to roll to its side while resting on the rail. The accuracy seems good so far. I harvested 2 doe with it in 2018 season. I have high hopes for 2019!
A sweet spot bow - performance, design, and price.
I've been deliberating for several seasons the idea to add a compound bow to my deer hunting options. So, when I decided to make a purchase, my priority was to make it the right one. I certainly did just that with the Vortec RDX. For a great price point I get reverse draw width, easy and safe cocking, quality optics, plenty of speed, and indredible accuracy. My new bow hunting range had me expanding shooting lanes at every one of my stands - an amazing bow and superior value. Select this one with confidence.
I bought this reverse draw for the balance factor as I have girls and thought that would help and it did. The purchase was close to season but allowed enough time to sight in and get comfortable with it. Guaranteed I believe to be within 2" on/c @ 20 yrds out of the box . Assembly was a breeze prob 15 minutes. My first shot was 11/2 low and a little to right close enough for group check which was within 1 1/2 . 3 adjustments later bullseye. Using a rangefinder I set up at 30 and 40 used the elevation dots in scope and dead on , grouping expanded to 2". I was using Horton 20 " bolts. My 10 year daughter had the same if not better results than me. She actually prefers shooting it over guns for the noise factor which is the quietest I've heard. Got the buck I was after at 40 yrds didn't even flinch from noise and devastating hit dropped after 15 yrds. My wife took her first ever buck at 40 yrds same result. My daughter being the sportsgirl she is passed on hers to let him mature. Added a new sport that my whole family can enjoy. Thanks Ten Point Sorry could not get photos to load.
I love the reverse limb design. It is extremely accurate and hardly ever have to make any adjustments. I kept breaking limbs and finally realized the left pivot crushing for the limb was missing. Got a Horton fury stock and put the limb cushion in the Havoc crossbow and have been killing deer ever sence. Love this crossbow. Can shoot 4" groups out to 60 yards with carbon bolts. Thank you for making su h a great crossbow at a reasonable price.
Bought the Vortec RDX for my wife as she started having trouble drawing her bow. Was impressed with the reverse draw and being able to crank it to full draw. It balances super nice and very accurate. Do not shot at the same bullseye twice as you will smash arrows (it is that accurate) We could not be more happy with this purchase. No picture available
All around immaculant product. Light weight fast and delivers the knockdown needed in the woods. Precision accuracy and quiet. I bow hunt regilously and by far the best investment I have ever made to my hunting arsenal. From here on out it will be horton or tenpoint in my collection. The craftsman ship and customer service is simply amazing. If you have ever considered horton or ten point go ahead and pull the trigger. You will not be disappointed.
I never liked crossbows before for a variety of reasons. During bow season I usually hunt with traditional archery. But a friend and I were up in our stand doing some preseason set up and target practice. This is the crossbow my buddy uses and after giving him a hard time about his hunting choice, he told me to give it a try. A few things: he had such an easier time getting through the brush and up the stand with his rig than I did. I was already jealous of the compact size. It was much lighter than I expected but still a great weight to hold steady. Drawing is a breeze and I have to say, not having to hold a draw while you zero on in on your target puts your shot dead on every time. This was incredibly accurate. Now it’s a massive jump to go from recurve traditional to crossbow but wow, the comfort level... This may be my go to for next season!
This cross bow came essentially ready to shoot in the box. I knew that all the equipment was matched and only needed to install the arrow quiver. I was looking forward to utilizing a bow with the reverse limb technology mainly due to weight and ease of operation in tight places.
The bow came almost completely put together. Easy to put on the shoe part and it was ready to shoot. Quality is superb. Being a reverse draw it feels super light and easy to carry in the ready to shoot position. Bought it mid-season and was unsuccessful this year in taking a whitetail deer. Not an indication of the bow just did not have a chance this year. Here in Ohio, this may be my number one hunting arm as all my shots have been under 40 yards on all deer. I cannot believe that anyone would not be happy with this bow. Everyone that has shot it comments about how balanced and light it feels. I could not recommend this bow enough. Light enough for a young hunter, and I do not find the manual loading to be very difficult. And I am not young anymore. If you shoot this bow once you will find that it is an everyone bow. My wife can shoot it and it does not feel too much for her small frame. She is 5'1" and I have a Steddy eddy and she loves it as well. I have not found that I need a faster bow as I do not reach out past the 40-yard mark for shooting. Enjoy this bow, I know you will.
I hunt in a ground blind and space is in short supply. This bow’s design is great in tight places! Light in the hand and easy to maneuver! I wouldn’t have been able to make the shot on my 7 point without it.
My wife bought me the Vortec RDX for Christmas because of elbow surgery earlier in the year which forced me to shelve my compound bow. Although this is my first crossbow I can’t see how it can get much better than this. After 10 minutes of setting up a target and a couple turns to the left on the scope I was hitting the bull at 30 yards. It’s very comfortable to hold and with my shooting stick under the front I’m shooting 1 inch groups at 40. I couldn’t ask for more for a first crossbow.
I Fell in love with this bow months ago and saved up. When I finally got it I was overjoyed. The 1st time I used one months earlier right off rack at a Bass Pro range I got 3 bolts just 2 inches away from dead center at 180 Ft ! I had to get one. About a month later JUST a day before my vacation, I cranked up with my accudraw. Just before it fully cocked the acudraw string failed causing my bow to dry fire ruining my strings. I must add that when I contacted the company they were mortified and told me to send it back for free repairs. $80 bucks for shipping and insurance and A week later it arrived and it seems like they replaced just about everything. They are alright in my book! I target shoot about 50 arrows a day. Maybe that explains why a month later my new bowstring failed while shooting. Fortunately the bolt went roughly where I was aiming and didn't cause any damage. (I built a 50 ft range in my basement) I got a new one 3rd party for $60 Bass Pro says they will install them for $50 bucks. We will see about that later today Maybe I am just unlucky and I use my bow more then many but I am a little worried about this bows endurance Don't get me wrong, I love this bow and ten Point. Everyone i have talked to there has been great. Get one. You will love it
Love everything about this xbow way better than my excalibur 350 in just about every way. This bow is easy to cock, little noise and almost no vibrations for a crossbow and its super accurate. Ten Point did great.
Picked one up last year and fell in love with it! It took me awhile to get use to the rope cocker though. No issues with it just tight quarters around the scope area to locate it onto guides & string correctly. Shoots like a dream!
The best I've ever owned!! The ease and balance is wonderful. I was and outfitter and guide in Idaho over 25 years. This is my second Horton reverse limb. I'm very glad tenpoint took over Horton, both great bows. If you're looking for a great Crossbow company, you've found it ! The compacted package is great in the blind or in the field. I love the way the reverse limb always protects the string carrying or in the brush. Picture form the old Horton and new ones to come.. : ) Thanks for such a great product. Sandy Podsaid Idaho
I bought the Horton Vortec RDX because of the reverse draw. The crossbow works great in climbing stands that face the tree. With the riser being in the middle of the bow it gives more room for the limbs to extend without fear of them hitting the tree or stand when deployed. The Vortec is very accurate with being able to hit a silver dollar at 50 yards and a fear of doing a Robin Hood by shooting twice that could ruin the first arrow. The life time warranty is a great added bonus that shows me the commitment they have to the quality of the Vortec as well as the commitment to the Customer.
I have a right arm that cannot support the normal crossbow weight, so I need a crossbow that is balanced more to the rear of the bow. This bow is perfect for me as I am left handed and can carry most of the weight on my left shooting arm. Great speed, very quite and the compact size is perfect for my tree stand. It also its very comfortable to carry slung over one shoulder. Only down side is that it can only carry 3 arrows in the quiver.
We are big fans of the reverse draw design. This weapon gives you a lot of stored energy for the 135 lb draw weight. Chrono speed tests were as advertised. Set up and sight-in werea breeze. The narrow profile and light weight makes the hunt more enjoyable. The in stock acu-draw handle storage is a “must have” so you are sure to have it on your hunt. No dissapointments here!!
Good balance, great size for treestand and ground blind. Absolutely terrifying piece of technology. Hardest hitting crossbow i've ever shot. Had to buy a new target after a few days of target practice. Hands down the best crossbow i've ever had.
Excellent crossbow, light weight to carry and use in tree stand, blind or sitting on the ground. Very easy to cock with sled system. Accuracy is excellent-stays on point. Had a Barnett predator- too heavy for treestand usuage. Sold it for vortex. Failsafe is excellent on vortex.
I use the Vortec RDX in my climber stand and it's small width profile is easy to maneuver around. I can re-cock in the stand using the AcuDraw without having to climb down. It is very accurate, as I have placed two arrows in the same spot. I would recommend this to anyone.
I got one last year and IAM still waiting for my firts kill with it .it's a great crossbow very accurate and Light and easy to pull back .and cock all in all a great bow for the money .would refer to a friend and others.
I purchased this bow for last season's deer season and was able to score on 2 whitetails both at 30+ yards with pass throughs on both. Bow is extremely accurate and I will be taking it on a bull elk hunt in mid September. It has been a pleasure to own and by far the best bow I have ever had. Thanks for making such a quality bow at an affordable price. With any luck I'll be sharing a picture of my bull elk this fall.
I bought the Vortec RDX at the beginning of last season due to an arm injury that forced me to shelve my compound now. I had a great season, 1 buck and 1 doe. Both were right at 20 yards and clean pass thru shots I did not have to track either as they dropped within sight. This Xbow is incredibly accurate and quiet.
The doe came in with another doe. On the shot, the second doe stood still and stayed in front of me for 2-3 minutes.
I can’t wait to get back in the stand this year and do it all over again. Thank you Ten Point
I purchased a Horton Vortec in July of 2017. I hunted the entire 2017-2018 Ohio archery season with it. It's compact, light, fast and accurate. Couple that with 100% USA made and I think this is a no brainer! TenPoint quality at a great price!
While this is not the lightest crossbow on the market or the fastest, it is amazingly powerful and accurate. It has a super thin profile which allows you to get it into tighter spaces with ease. It shoots great and it is super reliable! I would recommend this bow to anyone looking for a new one or to upgrade from their current setup!
