Split screen with sonar and chart has been very helpful to locate and mark structure on a small reservoir that has not been mapped. I have not used the chart on waterbodies that have not been mapped so cannot comment on that. I have the maps that come with the unit. Sonar has select frequencies which apparently can be used to improve finding fish. There is an electronic 348 page manual to help get you started. Sonar screen seems nice and clear. I wish it had a sun screen since screen is hard to see when looking into sun. Glad I did not get the imaging package as it would only complicate things that much more.
