This is a fantastic thermal mug! The lid is nice although it could be better if it had a sliding seal over the opening. It is nice and rubbery so it is quiet when you set it down. It stays warm for so long so you don't have to sit down and drink it right away. Definitely recommend it!
I knew I wanted a Hydro Flask and I'm a big coffee guy so this was my first. I liked that it was shaped like a mug. It has been a good desk mug, but is definitely not for travel. It is not spill proof and does not fit in my vehicle's cup holder as the base is too big (I was hoping it would fit up to the handle). It has a rubbery outer shell and the handle is decently firm, but does have some flex (I'd rather it didn't). It keeps coffee warm and drinkable a lot longer than the average mug (about 2.5 hours of drinkability for me). I tried it for ice water though and was shocked by how long it stayed cold. That led me to buy the 20 oz. coffee flask with flex sip lid. That is the one I would suggest anyone buy - I rated it 5 stars in the review I left for it. It has a spill proof closable top that keeps coffee hot longer. I was able to buy the straw lid for water (I actually use it more for ice water than coffee now) and it fits in my vehicle's cup holder too. I love that one! This one stays with me at my work desk now throughout the day for coffee and the other stays filled with icy cold water.
I bought the hot pink and love the color! It keeps my hot tea for 3-4 hours. It can be held by handle or move the sip lid around to wrap hands around mug only. No leak. Doesnt truely fit in car cup holder, it sits on top enough I can hands free for a bit if needed. Website indicates USA made but bottom of product says made in China.
I’ve had this mug for about 6 months and use it all the time. It keeps coffee hot, is comfortable to hold, and is a good size. The only problem is that the lid sits about 3/4 of an inch into the cup. This is fine when making coffee at home because you know not to fill it too much, but when handing over the mug at a coffee shop I always have to tell them to leave lots of room, which is a hassle, because otherwise coffee sprays out the sip opening when it’s put on. The max fill line is small and really hard to see so I’m always having to take burning sips before I can put the lid on and leave a coffee shop. OTHERWISE I love it! If they made it with a screw on lid that didn’t fit into the mug, or with a more obvious max fill like, though, I’d get a new one and keep the old for home use
I’ve had a yeti coffee mug for awhile now and recurved this in stone as a gift. I love the rubbery feel of the outside wall. it's not too wide like my yeti mug. Keep coffee hot for hours. i liked it so much I bought another one for the office. I’ve never been let down by anything hydro flask makes.
After only 2-3 weeks of light use (inside while teleworking) I have noticed the outside has started to discolor and turn a gross yellow color in places where I hold it (handle and sides where I pick it up). I have the light blue in the skyline series. I like the mug and its great at keeping things both hot and cold, but am incredibly disappointed that the material would discolor so quickly, after very little use.
I was looking for an insulated coffee mug to use at work and contribute to saving waste. I love the feel of the mug and the handle. I got the mug because I do not like drinking coffee out of the flask model. I was surprised that this mug fits snuggly in my car cup holder. My only complaint is that the top does not have an option to close so yur coffee does not splash while driving or carrying.
My wife and I bought a pair of these, we find them to be wonderful. Great coffee mugs for around the house, we find them good for the car too, it might splash a little, but better than a regular mug. We have used them camping as well, and they keep our hot chocolate nice a hot!!!
As with all other Hydroflasks, this mug keeps your hot beverage hotter than an ordinary mug--even without the lid. I also like the rubberized feel of the handle. Not that the exterior of the mug would ever got hot like a regular mug.
As someone else said, this is not a travel mug. If you're going to be active, your drink will slosh out of the sip hole in the lid.
The feel of this mug is nice in your hands (the "soft touch" does feel cozier than your average mug), but unfortunately its flaws that outweigh that. For one, trying to sip slowly often creates bubbles right at the opening - so often you'll pop it and a rush of hot coffee comes at you instead of the small sip you wanted.
Also this mug just does not keep coffee hot "for hours." It does keep coffee warmer longer than your average mug. But "piping hot for hours" is not even close. I just filled up my mug an hour ago and it went from piping hot to just warm. And because I can't microwave it, if I want a warm up I need to dump my excess coffee into a different container or hope there is more in the pot. Last bit: the lid can be a little tough to get off, so if you have extra liquid in there - there's a good chance it's splashing up and out if you're not careful.
I bought one of these just this past summer, and it is literally the best investment I've ever made in my coffee drinking habit. I like to slowly drink and sip my coffee, but it gets cold to fast in regular cups and ceramic mugs. So when I saw these cups on display at the Duluth Pack store in Duluth, MN., I decided to pick one up and give it a try, and it exceeded my expectations. Coffee stays pleasantly hot in this cup for two to four hours! That's long enough for my needs. Buy one of these cups today, every coffee lover should own at least one.
I love all the specs. Serves its purpose well. Only thing i wished for is a non-spill cover slider where you sip/drink. I take it for my commutes and I wish it has a sealable cover i can close and open to sip my coffee while riding a bus or while driving.
I bought this a little over a month ago. It keeps my coffee a lot hotter than a regular mug. I don’t like that the inside is stained from coffee. I have another mug that I’ve had for a year by a different company and it looks completely brand new in the inside. I’m a little disappointed since I haven’t had it that long. But over all I think it’s a good cup and it’s worth it.
We've been using these mugs since shortly after they came out and they have become our goto mugs every morning, absolutely love them! Love using them camping the soft neutral temp rubberized outer is great on cold mornings... They definitely keep my coffee hot longer than my old ceramic mugs even without the lid and with the lid on it stays hot for a very long time! I've read a couple reviews where the person was disappointed at the length of time their drink stayed hot without the lid. I've had quite a few insulated coffee "cups/mugs" with the wide mouth like these and none of them really keep my coffee hot any longer than any other insulated mug without their lids... The more surface area exposed to the air the faster things cool off... The only reason they didn't get 5 stars was that I've noticed that on one of them the rubber started pulling away from the stainless by the handle shortly after getting it, just a little, guessing a fluke, it's still totally usable and wasn't enough for me to take it back to REI "yet" :0 and I know that REI or even Hydroflask would replace it if I wanted to... We bought two more even after that and no issues with any of the others... Keeping in mind we take them everywhere and use them every day...
I’m not sure why I love this so much more than my 12 oz Hydroflask coffee flask, but it’s mostly replaced it for me. I use at home so I can drink out of a mug without my tea going cold, I take it in the car, it’s great!
I love the coffee mug. I have an issue with the cover. I have RA in my hands and can't take the cover off by myself - it's too tight. When the cover is on, the coffee stays hot. Off, it's no different than any other mug, except you can pick it up by the sides and it won't burn your hands like a ceramic mug. I'm glad I bought it - I just wish I could use the cover.
I bought this mug a week ago. It keeps my coffee nice and hot. I like it, but the lid is really hard to remove. It should have a tab on it so you don't have to slip your fingernails between the lid and the mug.I also wish there was a way to cover the drinking slot.
Cup is great. Keeps liquids hot and has good build quality. Only negative is the handle doesn’t seem to be welded to the metal part of the cup. The handle is made of the plastic that coats the cup. It’s not bad, just not as firmly attached as I expected.
As an avid Hydro Flask user, I was excited to give this as a gidt. However, the outer plastic shell separates from the stainless steel piece. No other Hydro Flask I have has this issue. Quite the bummer and will not be giving this as a gift.
Very effectively keeps tea or coffee hot, even in my over-airconditioned office. But it has a couple of flaws. The holes in the lid are too small, and allow a surface tension seal to form, when the seal break, the contents splash out. This is both messy and can lead to burns with a hot liquid. Also, the metal liner is beginning to pull away from the body of the mug-- I think this is due to having to lever the very tight-fitting lid up with a grip on the handle.
This mug lords over all of the ceramic in our cupboard. Like a nice watch you can tell this mug is quality when you pick it up. This impression will be reinforced the first time you leave your mug alone for an hour and return to a hot cup of Joe. The lid fits tight and sips incredibly well. Camped next to the guys from clean lantern this weekend. They were as green as my mug with envy.
This is the mother of all coffee mugs. I thought this mug would be perfect for camping but it’s perfect for home too. You can run around and get things done without worrying about your coffee getting cold! No more trips to the microwave to heat my morning java. Love this mug.
After using my 16 oz Hydro Flask (wide mouth) for water and coffee when I’m out and about over the last couple of years, I recently purchased this cup. I was given a set of insulated glass tumblers (no handles). As a senior with thin and delicate skin, I immediately and saw how useful an insulated cup can be at home. I figured Hydro Flask’s cup would be better than the insulated tumblers: not awkward to hold, a good weight, a handle for gripping and well balanced. I was right. I love this cup! My skin doesn’t burn from the heat as I hold it, and it is not easy to tip over. When I travel, it’s coming with me too!
So the mug looks sharp, that’s for sure. To get the effect of keeping things hot for longer, you HAVE TO KEEP THE LID ON, otherwise the vacuum insulation is not going to have the opportunity to do what it does best.... all the heat will escape the top without the lid. I had no idea though that this thing has a rubberized coating on it. If you look at the product description, they try to tell you it has an extra “thing” going on with it, but it’s not clear that the extra thing is a plastic coating around it. I figured this would be a good metal cup to keep next to the campfire when I went out, but it 100% would melt. If you’re a using it for the house, cool. If you’re planning on taking it outside the home, you’re Better off just getting a rocks glass style cup and wearing a glove around the morning fire pit.
I bought these as a Christmas gift for my husband and used one myself one day when I realized that the last third of my coffee is always cold in the morning. I only have one cup and I like to savor it. It worked perfectly! I don't understand the people who say this didn't keep coffee/tea hot longer than a regular ceramic mug. Even with the lid off I can enjoy a cup of tea for over an hour - I drink tea all day long and I was always adding more hot water. Now even if I set it down for a while it is still hot when I get back to it. I just saw the Watermelon color at REI and bought one for myself. I don't like using the lid - it keeps the tea too hot and I have burned my tongue a couple times. I use the lid only to keep it hot if I am not going to drink it right away.
