I purchased it because i needed something to hold my water while i ran outdoors, the extra space was a bonus for me. The main shining star in this bag for me is that additional stability strap. I get no bouncing or shifting while i run. this bag is so lightweight, when i wear it feels like it's not actually there!! I've been able to fill it to the brim(12oz water bottle, a croissant, wallet, tissue pack, protein bar) and also have barely anything in there, both times it still felt seamless. Fanny packs and other waist based carriers bother my stomach, so I wanted to try something new. The 2L bag is a great size for water and nutrition. It also has a pocket for the cell phone. With the extra strap, it stays snug and easy to run with. The only down side is the pack isn't easy to access. I need to walk (versus run) while opening the bag. But I can't remember anything that made me so happy the very first time I put it on, or that was so easy to get a good fit from, so quickly. My main use for this has been to stuff it with swimming gear (suit, goggles, a microfiber towel) so I can bike or run to and from the local Y, and it's been absolutely perfect for that. The stabilizing strap really keeps everything secure, and the padding on the back keeps it really comfortable and breathable even when it's stuffed to capacity. The internal pocket and clip are great for keys, phone, etc., and the additional bungee-d space behind the main pocket can even keep a slim bottle or soft flask secure and easy to access during runs. On my first outing with it, while marveling at its stability in fanny-pack mode, I slipped on some of our characteristic greasy Adirondack rock (in a streambed), fell down pretty hard, and tore a tiny hole in the bag, from abrasion, not puncture. It’ll be fine when patched with ripstop tape, but a bit more abrasion resistance would be welcome. (But I may be a minority customer for y’all—I don’t just run on trails, but walk and scramble, too. If just running, and over long distances, I might vote for the superlight construction. Maybe.) My two cents.
