As a new parent, being active with my little explorer is one of my main goals. I want to share the experiences with them that I missed out on. This backpack is an extremely comfortable way to make that possible. Chest harnesses and back straps don't work when it's 90 degrees and muggy outside. Everyone ends up covered in sweat and miserable! The Journey PerfectFIT is so comfortable and secure, the little munchkin fell asleep within the first 15 minutes of exploring the East Texas Piney Woods. Not to mention, this pack is even comfortable enough and has enough adjustments for my petite wife to carry our little 8-month-old monster, who weighs in at a quarter (25lbs) of her weight already. The built-in sunshade and feet stirrups were what sold me on this pack over its competitors, and I stand by that decision after seeing them in action. If this pack is in your budget, I say it is money well spent. \r\n\r\nP.S. Be prepared to have a conversation about the pack with every other hiker you run across. Over the last weekend we did about 20 miles in Sedona in the carrier and both she and I were comfortable. \r\n\r\nIt did take a couple adjustments to get her sitting and feeling right on my back, but once I got it right, we were good to go! \r\n\r\nBeing a single mom, without a carrier, I wouldn’t be able to get out, hike and explore like I love to do. I’m a long torso 6’5” ex powerlifter, fitting packs is always difficult but this seems to be the best option for us. My kiddo and I did one test run so far and it went great! Very impressed with the quality and attention to detail in the design. I do wish it came with a better set of setup/ use directions however overall this product is fantastic! I like the adjustability. The thiner shoulder straps don’t bother me but I can see how someone who isn’t use to carrying heavy loads often would get bothered. Whether we are on a long walk in the neighborhood, through a park, or just around the house, the Journey is the best way of keeping her close and happy. The pockets are smartly designed and the carrier is comfortable to wear. The included sunshade seems durable and with some basic attention to stowing it, the construction seems unlikely to break. My wife and I both use the Journey and, honestly, it becomes a bit of a game trying to maneuver with each other to get to be the one to wear it. Overall construction and materials are solid, space in the pack is great, super comfy for the kiddo and me. Bought the Journey PerfectFIT™ Elite a year ago to prepare for living/traveling in Europe. It is perfect size to pack diaper bag contents, a DLSR camera with accessories, snacks, and drinks for a day trip. I carried my kid through small European shops (carefully given the pack size), palace/castle tours, trail hikes, caverns, the aquarium, zoo, etc. It has met every expectation for traveling parents.\r\n\r\nI have no significant critiques on the fit and construct. When packed correctly, it is balanced and comfortable. The hip straps and pockets are great, side handles are well-placed for putting the pack on, and the storage areas are well-designed. \r\n\r\nAs for the little one, my kid loves it. He is completely content when traveling in the pack. It takes some effort to get legs through the harness but that seems inevitable with any carrier. The harness is very secure which is added peace of mind.
