All red dots are not created equal. The VX-Freedom RDS (red dot sight) changes the game when it comes to consistency and durability in a red dot sight. We took our 70+ years of optics knowledge and created a red dot that's built Leupold tough, performs in extreme conditions, and won't break the bank. It's everything you need in a red dot and nothing you don't.
The Freedom red dot preforms as expected, the dot brightness adjust easily and the unit feels rugged. The provided mount makes this red dot well worth the money. Have it mounted to an AR in 556, sighting it in was easy and quick.
This scope has been a wonderful addition. I purchased this to add to a rifle for my father who's 75 years old and still loves to hunt. Over the years it has become harder for him to look through a regular scope get it steady. For him most shots are quick up on target evaluate and possibly shoot. Shots are no more than 75 yards away for him. The build on this seems very sturdy. The up onntarget acquisition is simple and the red dot is easy to pick up and place. Sighting in was simple and done within 8 sshots. The battery life on this has been great and have had no issues. I have shared this with several other that we have come across like a little kids showing off his new toy. Many favorable comments of how nice the scope was. Thank you
I installed this on my POF Edge .308 Holds zero perfectly. Would recommend to any one looking for a heavy duty RDS. I put Butler Creek flip up covers on mine I used size # 19 for the objective and size #15 for the eyepiece. Very easy to adjust point of impact and to adjust the brightness.
Bought this for my SCAR16S - the bulk and size of this red dot perfectly accompanies the rail system on the scar, and looks absolutely beautiful.
The SCAR family is known for being rough on scopes however; so I had a few issues initially with the battery cap being either too loose or too tight - slightly too loose and the red dot will shut off from the recoil causing the battery to move out of connection with the diodes. Too tight and firing will cause setting changes as if I was pressing down on the button of the cap. I found the best tightness was when the L symbol is completely sideways, no issues at all since I got that correct!
Bought this to put in my second AR-9 build. Fits great with the supplied mount and the flat screws make a positive mount. I have the Sig Sauer Romeo 5 and compared to it this is a much more heavier and robust feeling sight. That said I think the red dot has some issues. While the dot can get bright and is nice when in doors the dot seems to have some smaller dots within it. Only notice it while indoors. The red dot had great glass clarity and is above the Romeo 5 on that part. I want to see how well it holds zero next.
Great Red Dot. Built like a Tank. Glass is crystal clear like all red dots should be, but arent unfortunately. The Red Dot is super bright and easily adjustable. The lens / field of view however is very small and narrow. Wish Leupold wouldve made the lens sight 50% larger. Other than that, its a great Red Dot I wouldnt hesitate to put on anything.
I bought this to throw on one of my SBR's and kind of pit it against my Aimpoint Micro T1. This sight is pretty darn good I must say. The clarity of the glass is impressive and the accuracy was dead on from the factory. Leupold has done a great job with this little fella.
Pros are: Really well built, like a tank. Really like the battery compartment, the manually adjustable turrets are a great feature, the auto-on/off feature is great, the Small 1 MOA dot is great. The brightness selector is great -- several levels of brightness up and down via a push button. Lenses are very clear. Cons are: Battery life is a few thousand hours vs 50,000 hrs on some other models. Windage is 80 MOA which is less than some other models. Also, the lens is only 22mm instead of the 34mm advertised. Feels heavier than other red dots such as Trijicon MRO-C or TRS-25/26.
