Best sunglasses ever!! I cannot live without my Maui Jim's!
I have used Maui Jim sunglasses for years. I was introduced to them when visible a family member who had accepted a transfer to Phoenix, AZ. My glasses were in my suitcase, blinded by the sunlight, my family member offered me her Maui Jim's. I immediately bought my first pair and never looked back. Friends became believers, and users, as well as I touted my love for your product. Stingray is my favorite although I have other Maui Jim's.
Stingray wrap around is good for rides in my convertible. Not a light weight frame but Lenses seem like they will hold up very well. I have a small face and this frame is somewhat wider than I expected but optical shop may be able to adjust. Was hoping that the Rose color would be more of a lighter pinkish lense. They are as dark as the grey lenses in an old pair that I have.
Was thrilled that Maui Jim offered Heros a very nice discount.
Pleased with the help from the site's chat-on-line. Love there are so many choices.
Would have bought more stylish Ladies glasses but didn't like the fact that the temple pieces are so long and have to be fitted behind your ears.
Had them for a few days, so far so good. Never had the bronze lens color before, really like them. The glasses fit great, they are top notch. This is the 3rd pair, tried two other styles by mail, they weren't right for me, third time's the charm. Return and refunds went without a hitch, kudos for making that part easy.
By far my favorite MJ shades for the following reasons: - Great tight fit so they don't fall off at amusement parks such as Disneyland and Universal Studios. - Comfortable with integrated nose pads with no adjusting needed. - Sturdy arms with strong springs - Frame arms do not interfere with wearing baseball caps (a big deal for me) - Clarity and protection with prescription lenses
Finally, I recently crashed on my mtn bike resulting in 5 stitches under my eye from the frame of these glasses digging into my cheek. The MJ prescription lenses were badly scraped but remained in place and did not break... saving me possible worse damage to my eye. Although stitches were needed, the fact these glasses stayed in place and the lenses and frame took the impact, protecting my eye from the street makes me extremely thankful that I had these on while riding. I am going to need to order a new pair soon to replace my damaged prescription lenses.
Lil better quality control,,, Nose pad shouldn’t fall off
I had my glasses for one week and the nose pad fell off... I Love Maui Jim’s, Owned them for many years... So I bought a second pair and sent the first back... Still feel they are the best glasses ever... unless I don’t get a refund 😎
Really disappointed!!! I have been wearing Maui Jim’s for years and LOVED them. My first pair had traveled the world with me and they were indestructible and always looked bar and new. After regretfully losing them, I purchased a pair of Stingrays. When getting out of the car they fell out if my hand and fell onto a smooth concrete driveway. Well you would have thought I had been abusing them for years. The lens scratched, but the frames are a mess. Knicked, scratched and dinged up pretty bad. They could have never gone through what my first pair had gone through. I’m going to see about returning them. I would have never expected this from Maui Jim...
I have had a pair Stingray sun glasses for over 13 years. They are the best sunglasses. I purchased mine from an eye doctor in rock hill SC. There excellent for snow, beach or just hunting.
Got these for my boyfriend for his birthday. He is an avid fisherman and he loves them. I’ve had a pair Of Maui Jim’s I love for 10 years. Best sunglasses ever!
For all the good men and women who are complaining about the durability of these glasses, please understand that if the lens is made of Super thin glass , they'll crack on impact. If you make them rest on your head, while not using them, you are inviting trouble. I suggest you rather secure it with a lanyard if you are someone who is not gentle with your glasses. Another option would be to go for other Maui jim models with lenses made of Polycarbonate. You won't find this issue with them.
My Second pair of MJ sunglasses and they're great!
In February of 2020 my wife and I were in Lahaina, MAUI and we ducked into the Maui Jim shop on Front St in the little shopping center behind Ruth's Chris. I tried on the Stingray sunglasses, and I chose the special edition (that I was told you can only get in Hawaii MJ-103-02HW) that has both the flag of Hawaii on one of the temple locations on the frame, and also inside the frame. I chose the Bronze lenses, and the satin black (or rubber-like) frames. The saleswoman who waited on us was very accommodating, and I tried various lenses including a new greenish tint lens that unfortunately was NOT available on the Stingray frame style. Having said that, and that I have very "sensitive to light" blue eyes, there were noticeable differences to my eyes anyway, between the various colors of the lenses and how they displayed what your eyes see. I was torn between the grey tint and the bronze but time and time again, my eyes favored what they saw through the bronze lenses, and our saleswoman (please forgive me but I forget your name and I didn't get a card) went into the stockroom and found a pair of Stingrays with the bronze lenses. SOLD. AND I'm GLAD my wife bought these for me to replace my past (and lost pair) that I had for a number of years and treasured them. These are certainly keepers. I love the frames and love these lenses.
Bought these because I forgot to bring my sunglasses on vacation, had them 15 yrs, repaired once when I dropped them on cement, whoops. The I found out how awesome Maui Jim's Repair service is, they are good as new! They even replaced parts I didn't know were bad. I have not bought any other brand of sunglasses since......
I'm on my second pair of Stingrays and second prescription lens in the second pair. In a world where everything is throwaway cheap, my perspective is that Maui Jim has refused to go there. Yes, compared to other glasses, Maui Jims are pricey. But, being a person who wears my Stingrays from first daylight until after sunset at work and play...you get what you pay for with Maui Jim. The frames and hinges hold up to any abuse I throw at them and then lens stay clear forever. (The coating on my first lens which are 6-7 year old just started coming off, but I can't use the prescription anymore anyway.) I recommend Maui Jim all the time. "Be proud Maui Jim, you are all about quality and Customer support in a world of others who just want to make a quick buck from "Consumers"...not Customers."
I recently lost my Maui Jim Stingray Style sunglasses on a sunset cruise in Maui and that I have had for 12 years. When I contacted Maui Jims, they indicated they still had the same style! I am so happy I was able to replace them and that they keep the old styles! Thank you Maui Jims!!
Had these for quite a few years and used them for tennis, hiking, boating, riding my motorcycle and they were awesome but used to have to send them back frequently for new lenses. The lenses on this model were super fragile scratching and cracking way to easily. On a boat ride a lens cracked when hit by a small fly. They would also fall off fairly often (DOH) because the arms wold loosen up.. Tried a lanyard for awhile which worked great but hated using it so got rid of it. Big mistake as a month ago they fell off my face again and they fell into the Bay of Banderas while sailing.
Because of warranty and repair services which is combined with a customer service that is second to none I will likely try a different model since it seems I am not the only one that had the same issues with the fragility of the lenses on the Stingray.
They fit well, but the lenses aren't as clear as I expected. My wife had a pair of Maui Jim's with rose lenses that brighten up the world. These are simply decent and are hardly rose tinted. They are also much darker. Still ok, just not what I had hoped for.
These were my favorite glasses, and I lost a pair that were 3-4 years old that were super nice quality that you expect from Maui Jim. I just bought another pair of the same glasses and they are nothing like they used to be. They feel cheap, and they squeak and creek like cheap gas station glasses. The lenses no longer make colors really pop like the last glasses. They feel and look like off the rack Walmart glasses. Super upsetting because I always thought Maui’s were the best you could get.
Ok I am a little biased as I now own 1,2,3,4 pairs of Maui Jim Sunglasses. I have sunglasses specifically for Driving and (2) paira for Fishing. My Choices for Fishing are the Copper/Bronze lenses for brighter days and then the MauiHT lens for cloudy days. I love to have the variety for fishing to enable sight casting on the flats in Tropical Waters and or my NW Rivers equally as well. I love the smaller fit of the Stingray Frames for my face and eyes so many other choices- I may need to try another next time. Thank you MJ you guys are awesome !
I absolutely love Mauijims, I have had a pair of prescription Maui's for 8 years and do not want to wear anything else, my script changed and had to buy a new pair and I am happy with these as well. My husband only wears Maui's also, worth every penny
These may well be the best sunglasses I've ever owned, and I've owned a couple of Maui Jim's before. In addition to the cool styling and polarized lenses, they are extremely comfortable. I'm sure they'll be great in the snow too!
Although I liked the look, the blue lenses just aren't as good as the standard gray. I returned these and opted for the grey, which I love and rated 4 stars (-1 star for lens durability).
I've owned several pair of STINGRAY for 10+ years. I tried other wraparound models and lens options and nothing compares to the look and feel of this MJ model with the standard gray lenses. If it ain't broke, don't fix it I guess. My only complaint would be the lens sensitivity to drops which MJ is very up front about with these lenses. If they could make them more durable these would be 5+!
I rate this pair of sunglasses 5 star due to the comfort, visibility, durability and style. My favorite feature is the ability block the peripheral light out your eyes when it's very bright and there is a lot of glare.
I just purchased a new pair of Maui Jim Stingray sunglasses (glossy black with gray polarized lenses) replacing my prior pair that were about 10 yrs old. My prior pair has traveled the world. Been in crazy weather conditions and were not treated with the best care. The lenses started to have small pitting in the center of my vision so it was time to replace.
Having had Lasik surgery about 10 yrs ago I found all sunglasses to degrade my new HD vision. Maui Jim glasses were the best in clarity and distortion and I never looked back. Looking forward to another 10 yrs with my Maui Jim Stingray's.
i got them just this month ,one of the nose pads was missing,i new i would have to pay,but i didnt . maui jim said no way nose pads are free ,CUSTOMER SERVICE YOU ROCK
THERE WERE MISSING A NOSE PAD AND THE OTHER ONE IS WORE,I GOT IN TOUCH WITH MAUI JIM ,JUST NEW I WOULD HAVE TO PAY ,NO WAY THEY SAY NOSE PADS ARE FREE.... MAUI JIM YOU ROCK ;;;;;; PLUS ITS THE BEST PAIR OF SUNGLASS'S I EVER OWE, THANK YOU AGAIN CUSTOMER SERVICE YOU ROCK, YOU GET A PLUS '''
Not good, for $225 dollars one would expect far better quality. Both lenses cracked and could not get Maui Jim lenses no matter how I tried. The Maui Jim logo on both sides of the temple pieces wore off in no time. Not worth the money, there are much better quality sunglasses in the same price range.
Today I purchased a pair of Stingrays to replace my tired (but not yet knackered) 15 year old MJ Sports. Let’s hope these travel round the world with me and last as long!
Bought this product 4 years ago and have worn them extensively without issue until I broke them. I called Maui Jim and they helped through the easy process of repair. Excellent customer services.
