Twin Falls, root beer frame, Blue Hawaii lens, lightweight!
Twin Falls, blue lenses are great in bright light and on the water too. The root beer frame is very light. The adjustment with the nose piece is great for custom fitting higher or lower on your face. I had to take about 5 minutes adjusting mine. One side of the nosepiece wasn’t the same distance as the other out of the box but easily fixable pushing in the other side. Great quality and very light. I just added the Maui’s Cablz, glasses retainer, it’s great for boating and peace of mind, and it adds just enough counterweight to keep glasses tight on my face.
I bought the rootbeer frames with bronze lenses for myself and I love them. The lenses make everything crisp and clear and they aren't even prescription glasses. The wrap style glasses are light weight and I forget that I'm even wearing them. They fit on the bridge of my nose perfectly because I can adjust the nose pads. I was a little nervous about buying glasses without trying them on but the lady in the chat box gave me advice. I wish I hadn't waited so long to purchase. Couldn't be happier.
I bought these glasses, one of the most expensive pair I have invested in. I have not been happy with the construction or durability of the frames or the lenses. Very disappointed, not sure Ill buy Maui Jims ever again.
I bought this 2 months ago. They are very very light. But somehow they fell of my head onto the ground and sustained a fine scratch. I asked myself for such a small scratch how could this even happen. I have been happy with the glasses up to this point. Conclusion - these are not scratch resistant despite what the product description says so beware. For the price you almost dont want to wear them for fear of scratching them. Disappointing.
Very disappointed in the quality of these. From having Typhoon 2 and not being able to repair them i had to get a new pair. They fit my face well but the frame is so cheap looking and very light weight. I'm afraid they will break really easy. Not worth the money even after a 50% discount.
They seemed like regular sunglasses from the front in the online image, like the prior pair of Maui Jim sunglasses that I had owned. However, when received, they were in the form of a semi-circle and very wrap-around, with a very different look in person.
I am an Optician, & highly recommend Maui Jim, and Twin Falls: I have purchased 4 pairs (3 plano in different colors, & 1 Rx version). I lost 1 pair in Maui wave action sadly. And why did I order so many... for my post-LASIK surgery I wanted the best U.V. & HEV light protection. Excellent fit, best & lightest frame ever owned-- w/ highly adjustable nosepads (I have a skinny nose bridge & large head). I did break 1 pair in my cargo short pocket in Lahaina on vacation, but in Lahaina is a Maui Jim office and they replaced it no charge. I have not broken any other pairs. I do not think of these as fragile frames, but I do think many people are rougher on their glasses, so the hinge while sturdy may not suit all peoples sunglass wearing behaviors. My advice-- remove all frames with TWO hands, wear them OR keep in RIGID case & you WON'T have a problem.
I've had mine for about a year and love the way they fit, but there are some issues that I feel are worth mentioning. It doesn't take much at all to make them look filthy. The top inside of the lenses sit so close to the face that every day sweat and dirt leaves that part of the lens pretty well useless. They're also very fragile feeling; so much so that I'm very hesitant to use them when I'm doing anything like fishing or hiking because I'd hate to ruin a $230 pair of glasses doing the activities that I love doing. I put them in the dresser and use the Costas that my son bought me for my birthday.
My third pair of Maui’s and the Twin Falls are amazingly light and comfortable. Black frames and Rose lenses. They will be my driving glasses and tennis frames. The customer service - attention and follow up/through was also appreciated. I hate to admit that the next pair will need to be prescription lenses. The comfort and clarity of these helped solidly that decision.
I've had my twin falls for about 3 weeks now. Love the fit. Wish they had spring hinges but not a deal breaker. I got the blue lenses and I find the clarity isn't perfect. It is close but seems a little unfocused. These are the reason for not giving them a 5 star rating. Other than that I find them great.
My wife and I have worn Maui Jim's for years. I would have to say these are the most comfortable pair I have ever owned. The clarity are second to none. I am well pleased with this product and would highly recommend them.
They are expensive but worth every penny. I purchased them one year ago. I bought the polarized version with copper frame. They are made in Japan. I am 53, active and my eyes are very sensitive to sunlight. I have used them for everything, driving, jogging, boating, biking, going out, and when not on my face, they are on top of my head holding my hair perfectly out of my face. They are unisex as they look just as good on me as they do on my husband. They are perfect for larger faces. They are super light, have an integrated nose support, the lenses fully cover my lower eyelids without being too large, and their slightly curved design with moderately wide arms at the temples prevent sunlight from getting in without blocking your view when switching lanes while driving. The lenses are very clear and the amber color makes everything look cheery, better than the grey lenses. My husband has been using his Maui Jim's with integrated prescription for years and can't live without his either. Recently, I squished my sunglasses lightly against a hard surface and both arms broke. My optical store, Iris, sent them back to Maui Jim and they sent them back to me completely repaired with new arms for free and I can't believe it! The store told me that as long as they have the parts in stock, they will fix them for free. What other sunglasses manufacturer would do this - that is top notch customer service! I will never buy another brand!
Decision tu buy this 4th pair after 3rd wound-up in the lake took a few seconds. Best vision if you are chasing black water during a regatta thanks to polarized lenses. Trying other brands worn by friends only confirmed my choice.
These are very lightweight glass. They shaved as much off as possible and used mostly plastic construction to keep the weight down and it is noticeable. They also have a good grip to the head without any pinching feeling. I shook my head as hard as I could and I could not get them to slip off. No more need for a sports strap. The slight wrap back eliminates just about all of the side light leek. All around a great pair of sunglasses that you will forget you have on and won't slip off your head. Several reviews commented about poor hing construction and breaking too soon. These comments caused me to do some more research before paying +$200 for them. Several stores I called all said returns or customers coming back with broken temples was rare for this model. Actually the two I called said they have never seen these come back or had any complaints. Maui Jim also offers free temple replacement forever on all of their glasses so I decided to give it a try. After four months of normal use they are just fine. You just should treat them like the expensive glasses they are. Don't put them on the top of your head. Take them on and off with two hands. Put them in their hard sided case when not in use. Basic stuff. I don't know what the guy was thinking who put them in a laptop bag with just a cloth bag. Of course that is going to put stress on the hing and snap. If you are going to be ruff with your glasses don't buy super light weight glasses. They make heaver ones that can probably take more abuse like that. I like these for the super light weight that you won't even notice they are on and am able to take decent care of them to make them last.
You may notice that I wrote this review about a year ago. I Can't edit my review so I am reposting it with this update.
With about a year and 1/2 of using these glasses daily I can say quite confidently the plastic hinges are fine an you can ignore reviews saying they break easy. I have them on every time I go outside and take them on and off several times during the day. I treat them like the $200 glasses they are and take them on and off with two hands. If you pull them off with one hand they MIGHT fail early but with normal care they won't. They are very light and more than once I was looking for them only to realize they were already on my head several minutes later. I picked them for the comfort and non slip grip, as well as the UV protection, polarization, and contrast improving tint. I can definitely say they are comfortable and I have never had to push them back up even when sweaty. The hinges are just fine as long as you treat them right.
I bought these 4 years ago because of a double concussion. The amount of protection they provide and clarity are amazing. So amazing that I just bought another pair so my old ones could be sent out for new lenses and then I’ll have two pairs. I’ve never done that with any pair of sunglasses I’ve ownwd and I’ve had many and no not cheap ones either. Worth every darn penny
I purchased a pair of Twin Falls for Christmas and really liked them a lot. However, one day I dropped them in a retail store and the frame cracked and the right arm broke off. These glasses are very fragile and not worth the investment. The company will repair them but the cost is unreasonable given the purchase price of these glasses.
I've owned this pair of glasses for over 3 years. Best glasses I've ever owned. Love how light they are and the clarity is amazing. I use them all the time, including at the golf course and skiing.
The temples broke twice (Not sure if it was my fault or not), but Maui Jim repaired them and my cost was a $10.00 shipping fee. That alone is sufficient for buying the Maui's. I will be buying another pair this year in a different style just to mix it up. Would never look at another brand!
This is my second pair of prescription Twin Falls wraps. I still have the first pair, purchased 3 yrs ago, and will use that when I kayak fish. My prescription had changed and I wanted another pair that felt so comfortable and protected my eyes so well. I use the Twin Falls to fish (shore, kayak and boat) and as my everyday sunglasses.
Just picked up today. These are my first pair of Maui Jim sunglasses. My husband has worn Maui's for about 15 years. I ordered these as a prescription progressive sunglass last week. I wore them all afternoon and am very happy so far. I love the way they fit my face. they seem to block light perfectly. I was so glad that I went to an optometrist office where they helped me find the perfect fit and style for me.
I've had two pairs of these sunglasses. I lost my first pair unfortunately, the second pair I've had for a year. No problems with them. Super light and comfortable. I work on a boat in the summer and where them everyday for the entire day and they are great!
I purchased the Twin Falls as a gift to someone who was a fan of another brand. I have a pair of rx Koki Beach and I loved them since the first try. My fiance was impressed with the science that goes behind the making of your lenses and with how light and comfortable they were as soon as he put them on. Thank you for the ease of online ordering and fast delivery. We are both very happy with your brand.
Love the glassed - but the right side temple broke
The glasses are about a year old. I'm very careful with them. I pulled them out of my bag (in the case) and the right temple arm was broken off near the hinge. There seems to be several other reviews with the exact same issue (also right side). Maybe a defect in the molding process? Bad batch?
