The GEL-KINSEI™ Blast shoes are designed for distance runners seeking a smooth stride. They keep your mind and body energized to achieve your training goals.

An arrangement of GEL™ technology and FF BLAST™ cushioning create a soft yet responsive step. After easing into the landing phase, the shoe propels you forward with a smooth transition.

The midsole's shape is inspired by a samurai's curvaceous katana sword. With a Pebax plate in the center, this feature redirects your movement forward and gives your run a faster feel.

Go for it
Lighter than I expected. Comfortable fit, feels slightly wider/roomier than the gel Keyano. Have about 80 miles on mine and they are wearing well. Stability seems good. Quality built shoe

The Asics Kitchen Sink
What happens when you throw everything, and the kitchen sink at a running shoe? Well, you get the Asics Kinsei Blast. Critical foam? Check. Plate? Check. Knit upper? Check. AHAR+ outsole? Check. Stout heel counter? Check. Gel? Check. It’s probably one of my favorite running shoes. It’s stable. It’s bouncy. It’s cushioned. It’s just comfortable all around. I guess the only negative I could give it is the weight. It’s a tad on the heavier side, but I’ve ran in heavier shoes. It’s also a little on the warmer side, but it’s still not bad. It’s like they took a Novablast v.1 with the knit upper, added a plate for stability (because that Novablast was kinda unstable, and added some Gel for shock protection. That’s what it feels like. It’s hard to say who it’s competitors would be. Adidas Ultraboost 21? I’d pick the Kinsei Blast. It’s an odd shoe that’s just enjoyable to go for a run in… just go for a run. No speed workouts or anything. Just you, some music, maybe just listen to the birds (or traffic, wherever you live) in just keep striding along without care. That’s the Kinsei Blast.

Too heavy for running
The shoe is comfortable to wear but it’s not appropriate for running. I would label it as casual/lifestyle/training ( no running) shoes.

Nice upgrade from the Kayano
Loved the look of this shoe, after wearing kayano for years, just haven't liked the last couple of versions. Most recently ran with the gt2000, but was looking for an upgrade. So far, have loved the kinsei. Certainly has added more rebound in my stride, and I was able to run one of my best times ever in this shoe....whether that has anything to do with it or not. Did take a couple runs to break in, as it felt narrow at first, but nothing that would keep me from buying another pair. So far, I feel like this shoe will live up to the price point.

work horse
I work in a warehouse, 12 hour shifts walking 10-15 miles a night and these absorb so much shock. very cushioned and responsive. i don't have to walk as hard with these on, thats for sure. i'm not a runner, so i cant speak on that, but if you just need nice, highly cushioned sneaks, these are great

Could be my new Favorite From Asics
If your foot loved nimbus 16, nimbus 22, nimbus 23, novablast 2, metaspeed edge, your going really like this one.
I have tons of Asics models. The Kinsei Blast is one of Asics best all around shoe. Nimbus was my go to work shoe, and working out. Metaspeed edge was running, Novablast was a recovery shoe if feet were sore.
The Kinsei Blast can do it all. I can work, and not switch to the metaspeed edge when running and run in the Kinsei Blast and be just as happy if I want that day. To me this 179.99 KB is a steal. I will buy more colorways as I can't find any real weakness in the shoe. I have all top of the line running shoes from brooks, nike, saucony, new balance, adidas, but mostly Asics and no shoe in it's price range and a few that cost more can touch it. It's only a plate from mid sole to heel I think, and it feels way better then my elite 2s, vaporflys, and endorphin pro 2s. The Kinsei Blast will be my next couple purchases in colorways. I noticed out of 40 pair of shoes plus, all running I own, I can't stopping using these shoes for Everything, Work, Run, Play,Walk, Weights. Store, whatever. A good plate not overboard with rocking. The worst is the vaporfly. Stability is terrible for turning and bad grip on wet concrete or street cause slip. This shoe blows any plate away I own except the metaspeed sky and edge is just a bit better for running. If your a Nimbus die hard, try these shoe, I buy more Nimbus shoes then anything, but this maybe my new Nimbus.
