A great running short but I prefer the previous version
The previous version of the Sherpa running short was the best I've found (only complain is that the side pockets were tough to access while running). After a few runs I've found that the new version tends to ride up a bit during a run which may be the result of the wide waistband. Because of that I prefer the previous version of the short.
These are the best Sherpa shorts yet. The extra two pockets are great. I didn't like the last style that had the covered pockets as I couldn't easily put items back in them while running. I ended up cutting off the covers for easier access.
Awful pockets than ruin some otherwise good shorts. The zipper phone pocket doesn’t fit an iPhone. The mesh side pockets aren’t stable — I lost a mask from one of them on the first run. The lack of even one side pocket is ridiculous — you end up with nowhere to quickly store a credit card or empty silicone water bottle after a run or while doing post-run errands.
I have to agree with the comments concerning the pockets. Loved the old Sherpa and had several pair. Unfortunately, I ordered two pair of these new ones (back when). Really do not like them at all simply because of the pockets. Other than that....they ran considerably larger than previous Sherpas. I have repeatedly checked the sizing label just to make sure. Even resorted to washing them in scalding hot water trying to get them to shrink. I do like the drawstring. Unfortunate "improvements" have given me many concerns about any new Brooks shorts.
The shorts themselves are great, the small side pockets are sufficient for keys and other small items. However, please note that there is not enough room for a phone in these shorts. I have an iPhone 12 (roughly the same size as the iPhone 11), and it won't fit in either side pocket or the rear pocket. I have a watch I can use for run tracking and music, so it's not a necessity, but on a longer 10+ mile run, I'd prefer to have my phone for emergencies.
The shorts themselves are comfortable, I personally wear compression shorts underneath, but there is a brief liner inside the shorts. No complaints, I've done about 15 miles in them so far.
If you need to carry your phone with you on your run, though, these ain't it, chief.
Perfect weight, support, cut, and material. These are my favorite running shorts of all time. They work for everything from easy recovery runs to full Marathons. Never had any issues with chafing or rubbing even when wet from sweat or rain. I have yet to retire a pair and have several hundreds of miles on some of them.
I have 5 pairs and they are awesome. Hip pockets are tricky to get anything out of so I tend to not use them. The back pocket pocket holds a good bit but not a large cell phone. If they had front pockets that could hold a phone, I'd never buy anything else.
I just bought these and have used them on a couple of runs. The fit or design is below average because - doesn't have as much freedom of leg movement - rides low on the waist and pulls down when you crouch or bend - lacks a normal side pocket--has one in back and not very useful narrow pockets on the hips
Love these running shorts. Overall, these are just a bit longer than an older pair I have had for a few years. However they still fall about 2-3 inches above the knee. This version however has a “no catch” zipper in the rear pocket which is really nice. Overall, great running shorts.
These shorts are by far my favorite to run in. I am 5’8” and wear a 29in waist. While I usually wear a S in shorts I got the XS due to the sizing chart and they fit perfect. The liner also fits nice as well.
Great shorts. Very comfortable. I haven't done long runs, only 3-5 miles at a span, but they are quite comfortable. I like the pocket design on the sides. Great for storing a key or ID (just the essentials) on a run. Better than the pocket inside the waistband design.
Also, a slightly larger zipper pocket on the back. I was able to stuff a mask in there comfortably enough.
Shorts have a good look to them. Got asked where I got them, so I suppose that's a good sign. Slightly pricy, but I only buy running shorts every 2-3 years so not that considering how much use I get out of them.
Great running shorts. They are so light weight and airy. I do a regular 5K workouts, with shorter runs in between. Also great for gym workouts. Other shorts catch on my legs during squats or other leg workouts, but these shorts glide and don’t stick.
The legs are short enough to allow full movement in long strides or lunges, but long enough to prevent inner thigh chafing. I have a size 30 waist, and the small fits great. The liner fits comfortable and keeps everything in place. The back pocket is big enough for a set of keys. I wish there we’re full size side pockets so I could wear them for everyday use, but they are first and foremost running shorts. Probable the best pair I own. Will definitely buy again.
These were very tight fitting and the inner liner were uncomfortable. I did not even try to run in them. Also, the side pockets were extremely difficult to access and were so small I am not sure what you could fit. I don’t think a larger size would work any better for me. Going back to a different brand that fits better and is more functional.
These are the most comfortable shorts I've ever run in, but the pockets are awful - there is no way you can get in to either of the side pockets while you're running. The rear pocket is OK, but I really gotta work to get my Pixel 2 in there.
