My 36" waist did not parallel too well with the suggested sizing chart on the Website. The Size L was too large. The material is nice but didn't really feel like a garment style to run in, e.g., more like a pant to wear to the gym.
Really comfy running pants! I wore them in 35-40 degree weather, and they were plenty warm. I haven't tried them on a longer run yet, but they were very comfortable to run in (with compression shorts) for the relatively sort run I wore them on. Besides the comfort, it was also nice to toss on pants and not have to deal with squeezing into running tights pre-run. The only downside I can think of is that pants are pretty long, and when I had them on without shoes, they went past my ankles, all the way to the floor. Once I put on shoes though, they fit a lot better.
For sizing, I'm a 32x30 for regular pants, and the medium size of these pants fits me well.
The two Spartan pants are great, with the exception of the drawstring. I don't know if I will buy any more of them because of that.
I have owned two pairs of Spartan pants for several years and loved their durability and feel. A year ago I bought the updated version and they were also very comfortable although a little tighter than my original pants. Unfortunately the drawstring broke a couple of months ago on the newer pants and I have had to try several options just to keep wearing them. The two newest pants are also very comfortable, but the drawstring is also unwieldy and is difficult to tie and keep tight. I hope you can find a better option for the drawstring because the pants are really nice.
The Spartan running pants are great! Other reviews about how long they are and the sizing were very helpful. I always wear mediums, but the reviews convinced me I should order a small and the small fits perfectly.
The fit is comfortable. It’s warm enough for chilly mornings. The pockets have the zippers which I love. The pant is a little bit longer than my legs but because it is tapered it does not drag on the ground when I run.
Thank you so much to Brooks for making something other than tights and also making longer inseams! Not every serious distance runner is 5ft tall and 150 pounds and likes wearing tights. I run outside in Michigan every day in the winter and these are now my go-to running pants. I’ve bought two pairs. Plenty warm on their own down to 25 deg. I layer with thermals under when temps are below 25. I’m 6’ 3” and 180 pounds. The large is perfect for me, but I do like a bit more room. Inseam is great. It’s almost impossible to find running pants with taller inseams. Please keep making these.
Read prior reviews and purchased a size down . . . from my usual medium to a small. I'm 5'9" 170 lbs., 33" waist, 31" inseam and they fit well, with enough room to layer tights underneath on colder days. Only a very slight negative is they're a bit long.
too thin for cold weather and too loose for my size. buy in person at store or order one size lower
i bought these pants thru internet and i never learn sometimes its better to have item in hand and try the garment before purchasing. iwanted a pair of pants to run in the cold weather with out having to wear anything else under neath except briefs. pants are very thin and my medium size are very loose so order one size down.
Buy pants that are sized correctly at another company
These pants are very very very long. They go past my ankles, under my heels, and to the balls of my feet long. Even the zipper lays under my feet. Very bad design. I used to have a small, but they were even too long. Would not purchase again.
just enough room to wear something under when it's cold but not baggy by themselves..I am about 6'1' , 165-170 with 32" inseam and the medium is almost perfect..ankle zips and zip pockets a nice bonus...should work well for x-c and riding as well...
Ordered xl and they we very baggy and falling off. Don’t have great luck with brooks shorts or pants. Xl always seems to be too big and large are always too tight. Besides size, quality seems to be good
Was really looking forward to receiving these as I prefer a pant over tights. Quality is very good. Unfortunately, these run large and are just too long and baggy for my liking. Drawstring is also odd and difficult to get snug and then untied. Anyway I will keep these and hope they shrink.
Nice pant, but runs a little bigger than I'm used to for an XL size. I probably could have managed better with a Large. The inside tends to snag on my socks as I'm pulling them on, but they are comfortable, the pockets easily accommodate my iPhone and the fabric keeps me warm as the weather turns to winter.
Love the length of these pants. My husband 6'2'' and 170 pounds, they are perfect for him in size Medium. I am 5'7'' 130 and the S is also perfect length...I tried the ladies pants...not as nice and they are too short!
After having some experience with Brooks sizing, I ordered a size down from my usual (usually a medium but ordered a small). The fit is just about perfect but, like others have said, the inseam is a bit longer than I like in a pant like this. I have to fold over at the waist for the length to be ideal. That being said, the material and fit are great, way more comfortable than other pants like this that I have from other brands.
My husband LOVES these pants. They fit great, look great, and he says they're incredibly comfortable and perfect for running in the fall weather. In the winter, he can just add an extra layer underneath. He likes the drawstring so that he can adjust the waist.
Nice Lightweight Training Pant, Sizing Runs Large........
The Spartan is a nice, lightweight fabric pant, featuring an elastic waist with drawstring and a 8-1/2" ankle zipper with a reflective tab. I originally ordered a size Large for my 6' 1", 175 lbs, 35" waist frame. I returned for a size Medium, not as loose in the waist and hips.
hi, so far I love pants. They are super comfy and allow for freedom of movement while providing just the right level of warmth. I have had thicker running pants before and these seem a bit lighter which for me is enough to run in almost any condition as I don't like to heat up too much. I wish they were 1 inch shorter in the leg, but that is typical feedback about pants as I'm 5 foot 10 and buy a medium. If I normally buy pants I look for a 30 inch length vs. most pants in medium are 32inch length.
