Rancher or lineman, anyone who works outside can appreciate the cold-weather chops of this men's hooded jacket. Proudly , it's crafted with water-repellent and wind-resistant rugged cotton duck. The body and hood are lined with quilted flannel for under-the-covers warmth.
The size on these jackets is just wrong and it's really not acceptable. This was a medium tall for my son. I take a large or xl. This jacket fits me easily and he is swimming in it. He is 6' and slender. It's not OK to just have your sizes mean nothing. The rating reflect that too big is not "high quality" and too big is not "high comfort".
I received the coat and was very impressed with the color, build, fit, and finish of it. I cannot wait to use it this Fall and Winter ( or maybe I can wait!?!). I closely inspected the metal zipper, a weak point in many of my other coats and jackets. It is “heavy duty”! It puts every coat I own to shame. Its too hot here in Missouri to break-it-in just yet, but I have started to tumble dry it with no heat and several “dryer balls” to help with “break-in”. I am very pleased with my purchase and plan on purchasing more coats as presents for a select few of my family.
Jacket is as pictured. Very well made, durable, warm and appears to be water and wind resistant. Sharp looking. It was warmer than what husband needed at this time, since he is not working outside as often as he used to. Based on that fact had to return a perfect garment for working in cold weather.
I BOUGHT ONE 10 YRS AGO FOR MY HUBBY. iT'S STILL USABLE. I WANTED TO GET HIM SOMETHING SPECIAL FOR HIS BIRTHDAY, SO I GOT HIM A NEW CARHART COAT. AND HE LOVES IT TOO. HE PASSED HIS OLD, BUT STILL IN GOOD CONDITION COAT ON TO SOMEONE WHO WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO BUY ONE FOR THEMSELVES. THANK YOU FOR THE QUALITY OF YOUR CLOTHES.
Got one of these a few years ago in a color you don't see often (and does not seem to be offered anymore), Blaze Orange. It stands out, especially in bad weather, and I've had a lot of people ask me about the color. I use it during the late fall and winter, and only on the coldest days do I need to layer. It runs a bit large and the only criticism I have is the elastic around the waist could be tighter, to help keep the wind out. Otherwise, this coat has held up extremely well. The inside pockets are also very useful.
This is my second J140. Bought the most recent one a couple seasons ago and its already wearing thru at the elbows and a couple of the seams on the sleeves. Also the black color has faded out severely in many places. My 10+ year old J140 looks better than the new one.
Overall I really like this jacket. I have really long arms, and this jacket covers them. My only slight complaint is that when you zip the jacket all the way up the hood stands up and crowds the back of my head.
I recently purchased a red jacket, like this one which fits me as a 4xlt should. Living in Pa we get some cold weather until spring gets here and this jacket has done a fine e job keeping me warm. I have been wearing Carhart jackets and vests for quite a few years. Have never been disappointed in in looks or wearability or how tough they are. I will buy more clothing in the future from Carhart.
I bought this for my husband, who works in construction. He had a specific need and I knew to come directly to the Carhart website. The material is great and sturdy for his type of work and I anticipate many years of good use. This particular jacket has the ability to be warm as well as functional, and the sleeves dont bunch up around your wrists and get in the way.
I spend so much time wearing this jacket it feels like an extension of my being. Hiking is a must for me, even through Northern Michigan Winters, and this thing is WARM, blocks all wind, and has plenty of decent-sized pockets! I'm 6'3 with a light frame, and the size large is pretty roomy on me, but considering it's designed to accommodate movement and layers, no biggie. Very pleased with my first Carhartt!
