Pockets are so shallow that if not zipped up, anything in pockets will fall out. Everything else about these pants are great. Material is thin and stretchy. Perfect for hot days, but the shallow pockets really holds it back. I’ve used them hiking in hot and cool weather, in sun and in rain. They held up very well to scrambling over sharp rocks when climbing Mount St. Helens and the DWR did great during a rainy hike on Mount Rainier. I like how all pockets have zippers and the draw cords on the legs were useful during a warmer hike. I also really like the Spice color. These on sale are a great deal. I like them well enough to order two more pairs in different colors, but I see some flaws for my intended use. First, the side pockets are shallow. They may not be usable to keep a card or anything in safely without being zippered - you are likely to lose them even with average movement. But then, if they are zippered, you can't have your hands in them. That's OK for hiking since your hands may be occupied with a hiking staff or other things, but for casual urban or travel use these pockets are not ideal. Also, left unzipped, the pockets do not have a streamlined look.
