I have been hearing how good this model Danner boot is forever. I finally decided to spring for them and they are absolutely incredible. They broke in super quick. I tell my coworkers everyday that they feel "buttery". How can something be so strong yet so comfortable?
This is my 3rd pair of Danners and I will say my best pair to date. Very comfortable from the box with very little break in. Much lighter than my Super Rain Forrest, and so far the best work boot I have ever had.
I’ve been wearing Danner boots for many years well since 1992 to be exact. I currently own 4 pairs of Danner boots. This boot doesn’t disappoint, as a career Firefighter I needed a boot that would be comfortable as I work a 24 hr shift. I also needed a boot that would be durable and would last me for many years, I was looking at the Danner lookout boot but the more I thought about it I realized that this boot would outlast the lookout. I am Canadian so we have extreme weather for example very cold winters and hot summers so this boot is a great all around boot, it will keep your feet warm and dry in the winter months and cool in the summer. This boot is true to size in the length and fits great in the width as I have a narrow foot. If your looking for a great boot that’s comfortable and durable then look no further.
In boot camp, we were issued horrible boots. They were awful! So uncomfortable & made the cheapest way possible. After arriving to my first ship, I was determined to find better boots. I remember picking them up at the post office & I walking down the street to find a bench so I could try them on. They felt great!! What an improvement from our “military grade” boots. I walked around Portsmouth & Norfolk to break them in & I had no problems. I thought they were going to be heavy & stiff but I was clearly wrong. After using them for almost a month, I LOVE them! They’re soft, comfy & flexible. Whether you’re walking through the shipyard or an aircraft carrier, these boots are awesome! I recommend them to every Shipmate that asks. Yes, they cost a lot more than the ones at the Exchange Store, but they are certainly worth it. I just wish Danner would make an all leather, uninsulated, black 8” boot to meet the Navy’s uniform regulations. Other than that, I HIGHLY recommend this boot to anyone."
My dad had told me to get a pair of these for years and has always had danner boots. I finally bought a pair and so far these are the best boots I have owned so far. They are extremely comfortable and fit true to size.
I am a Career Firefighter/EMT and I do not usually review the gear that I use, but I had to drop a line about these boots. I have worn Danners for a long time and finally made the move to buy the Acadia NMT GTX (non-insulated); my current pair have the tie in zippers as I need to be able to rapidly remove these boots with ease. These boots are far and beyond the most comfortable and sturdy boots I have ever worn on duty. My days consist of non-stop movement on my feet for upwards of a full tour (24 hours) and my feet stay comfortable, dry and protected no matter what the circumstances. I went through a full 14 week Firefighter Academy wearing these boots for PT, some days running and working out in them while in Class B Uniform, without any issue whatsoever. I will say these are worth every penny that you pay for them, just be aware of the sizing as the long last requires (in my opinion) to buy a bit smaller than your normal size. I am between and 11-11.5 in my boots, I currently wear an 11.5 in my Danner Rainforests and an 11 in my Acadias, but I will be ordering a pair of 10.5s as the 11s seem to be just a touch big and I prefer a more fitting boot; this is particularly true with the tie in zipper system as the boot is not as tight to my foot. I have worn everything from Haix Air Powers to 5.11s to Pro-Warrington Square toes, and there is no other boot that I will buy again for on duty wear. I hope this reviews helps anyone out there looking for a good duty boot and thank you to Danner for making such an unbelievable product.
Some few years ago I prefered Acadias over Danner Lights, which I already knew as a good rugged boots and which are seemed to be almost the same. After I tried Acadias I can see the difference. These are made to live in them and to care less. Thicker and stronger leather is water, dirt, solt etc resistant. And the heel fixation is extra. They took some time to break-in but it worth it. I think these are better than Danner Light if u like to have them black and clean and die hard for any activity
I bought these back when I first Joined the Army. In the BDU days, and they are still running strong today. Some of the factory finish has been worn off from over a decade of moderate to extreme use, to include the mountains of Alaska. In parts its just KIWI boot polish keeping them black, but they're the best boots I've ever owned. I wish Danner made them in Coyote Brown. The only down side, was in September in Alaska when I needed wool socks, but not insulated boots, these boots that had fit beautifully with cotton boot socks suddenly became a bit tight. I f you're going to wear them year round, get a summer pair and a winter pair.
I work on an ambulance. These boots are extremely comfortable and stable. They have a nice sound on the ground, no squeaking. It's a nice thud. These boots look great too. It's a very high quality boot. If im able to update this Post in a year I will.
Hi, Eddie here, with about three weeks in the second pair of Arcadia 8" Black NMT Composite Toe boots. They are as greater than the first pair, if one was to consider aesthetic quality alone. These new boots are equally, as awesome, in every other aspect, as the first pair. That is to say, overall, the boots are of grand quality. Therefore, for the money, it is an okay purchase, when your life is perpetual motion. It is curious that after a short period of use, the heel has worn down severely. This reality is consistent with the first pair. However, this may be do too personal physical veracity. In addition, the outer lower boot leather properties are easily susceptible too cosmetic damage (not a problem, just an observation.) Arcadia 8" Black NMT Composite Toe boots are great boots' for rigorous/rugged work and play life.
I use this boots exclusively for work in the public safety area as this type of boot is required. I love the fact that this model of boot can be recrafted or rebuilt to an almost new state as I beat them up pretty good!! I have multiple pairs of the same Danner boot and when they wear out, I send them off to Danner and in a short time, I have them back good as new and I put them in rotation with the others. I highly recommend these boots and any Danner boot!!!
I've been buying/wearing Danner Boots for almost 20yrs now. I started out wearing the Danner Light II hiking boot (still have a pair from 2001 I wear occasionally). I bought my first pair of Danner's 8" safety toe boots for work in 1999 and have bought 8 or so pairs since then. I've always gotten great service from the boots and will continue wearing Danner's until I can't walk anymore.
Great fit and VERY comfortable after a full days use
This is a great product that I feel will last me many years! Other guys at work have these boots and they have lasted for nearly 5 years. I got mine about 2 weeks ago and felt they were too tight/narrow but once I removed the padded insole, I now have plenty of room. I just wear thick wool socks to make up for the lack of cushioning. They feel very solid. Hoping to have them last for many years to come!
Awesome boots; very comfortable and durable. A bit heavy, but what do you expect from a steel toe boot. Surprised to see the negative reviews about these boots. Granted they are overall not as comfortable at the 10" Ft. Lewis boot. However, for a steel toe boot these are my go-to boots for work as a maritime law enforcement officer. They've held up extremely well over the years even with salt water exposure; key is to rinse off them at the end of my shift. Like the Acadia boot so much I bought the Sierra hunting version to wear while off duty.
Danner has some truly abysmal sizing to this boot. "Narrow" means far too narrow for a regular sized foot, with EE feels natural, a size normally reserved for extremely wide feet. Length is off too, my size 9 fits a friend who wears a size 10.5. Shoe sizing is a standard, the size correlates to a measurable value, however these boots simply don't measure up. Being an international buyer has nearly doubled the cost of this boot for me.
I'm an armed guard and a bounty hunter, so a good durable and comfortable boot to wear while standing for long periods was necessary, but I also needed something lightweight enough to not slow me down in a foot pursuit of a fugitive. These boots are an excellent balance of those things and I have already suggested to several colleagues that they buy a pair!
I started a new job with a major city fire department, and I wanted a boot that would get me through academy and my first few years on the job. It's too early to know whether or not this boot will do the trick, but so far it sure is durable. There's no fraying, no tears, and no wear in the leather. Also, it's extremely comfortable—a small (but greatly appreciated) consolation as I run towers in the hot Texas summer. Totally worth the price premium over a Bates or Red Wing, which were brands I wore in the past.
I bought my first pair while I was in the Alaska State Troopers Academy . I love them wore them in ALASKA snow, water , ice and COLD cant beat a Danner Acadia. I and not employyed in the Oil feilds in Ohio My Co will not buy Danners so I bought a pair with my own cash , when my co will give me a set of Red Wings JUNK !!! Only Danners for these feet!!!!
Chief Fire Officer in Metro-Boston area... Harsh winters and firefighting are not a great mixture to be sure. However, this boot while comfortable to wear around the station is also tough enough to withstand the rigors of the fire ground. They've keep me warm, dry and safe. Great purchase.
This is my 3rd pair of Danner boots. The first two were both the Quarry style. Then I decided to try something a little lighter. I'm a Ranger by profession and I work in nearly any condition that you can imagine, indoor and outdoor. These boots have stood up to everything I can throw at them. To me, they're more comfortable than the Quarry style and they seem to work better in the hot summer months of foot patrol than the Quarry. My only wish is that these boots were equipped with speed laces, which would make it easier to get my foot in and out. Even so, that won't stop me from buying these boots for the rest of my career!
These boots are very durable. I have had mine for 6 months, and they barely have a scratch on them. I'm a police officer, and these are almost a perfect match for what I need. I used to have the Nike SFB's, but the sole started coming off of those a few weeks after getting them. I decided to spend some money and get these here, and I'm glad I did. These are much heavier, but not being insulated, they still keep your feet somewhat warm, however, they don't overheat you in the summer. One major drawback is that these have no traction in the snow... I was in a foot pursuit, and fell 3 times within 50 yards in loose, powder snow. I know the soles are harder to last longer, which is a plus, but there is no traction in the snow. Having that draw back, I still highly recommend these.
When I got mine, I have never worn wide boots, but I tried them on, and didn't think it was going to work. However, after wearing them for a week, they widened out and fit like a glove.
Great looking boots for those that need footwear that is comfortable for long wear time, and look nice. I'm in my Danner Acadia boots 12-16 hours a day, and my feet don't get sore at the end of the day like they do with cheap boots bought at the local 'Big Box Stores'.
Another plus is that they will last longer than any other boots I've tried. They are in mud, snow, salty slush, and sandy soil every day and they've held up for over a year now. Awesome boots.
After going through a handful of shoes from [*] and [*] I finally wanted to get something that would last. Working as a firefighter in Arizona I cover areas ranging from rural desert to congested freeways. I wanted a boot that would provide me with protection against the elements and biohazard. I also wanted a boot that is going to last a long time. I wear a regular width boot but after reading comments I decided to go with a wide, I also ordered a pair of zippers to install. When I first tried them on I was a little worried because with boot socks they were a little tight so I tried them with a pair of athletic socks. The first two weeks at work were a little uncomfortable but didn't cause any blisters. I was worried the Gore-tex might be hot but I haven't had a problem with it in 115f so far. Now I feel the boot is fully broken in I am in love. They grip well, offer excellent support and are a flash to get in and out of. They do squeak on hard cement and tile floors but I attribute that to the soles.
i wore these boots for about a year before i had to get them resoled. That was a year of nonstop walking and putting lots of miles on these boots and they never once let me down. You simply cant go wrong danners and these boots are the best pair ive owned and ive had my fair share of boots.
These boots were one of the best standard issue items that the U.S. Marine Corps stuffed into my sea bag. They stood up to 25 mile hikes, swim qualification, p.t. sessions on beaches and in the mountains. Fast roping from helicopters onto flight decks of USS Saipan, Tarawa and Deluth. These one pair of boots were with me for 12 years and all they asked for were new soles 4 times and a few pair of laces. they never disapointed me and the never failed to do their duties. I had to retire the black leather Danner boots when our uniform changed. How happy I was to see the Danner tanned leather in my sea bag. Thank you Danner for letting me walk, run, swim and fast rope all over you. None better.
This is the best boot I have ever worn. I have two pairs of the Acadia 21210 style but the steel toe addition is really cool. I was worried about the extra weight but its a non factor. I believe this is the best boot for anyone working in L.E. or Security. Well worth the money. Great job Danner!
I got these a few months ago as a birthday gift from my parents and all I can say is wow. These are by far the most comfortable footwear I own, I say footwear because I am including sneakers, sandals, slippers and everything else in this category, not just boots. I was a bit nervous when I saw the package weight coming in at 9lbs but I have to say, they feel very light on my feet. Overall, I am 100% satisfied with my choice. The only tiny drawback I will say is that the leather on the toe gets chipped easily due to the steel toe, so if you're someone who's climbing in and out of ambulances all day, I would still recommend these boots, but you have to be okay with some minor scuffing
I work in a matainence department for a large facilty I walk a lot every day on all surfaces carpet, aspalt, tiel, metal roofing, and many other. I formaly wore rainforest at work but was required to upgrade to safty toe.The acadia is a good boot very comfortable to walk or stand in all in all well made. The only thing holding these back from greatness (not danners falt) is the sole they are not nonmarking they mark floors very easy and the cleaners they use to degrease the kitchen floors melts the ruber tread the soles wore out in about 6 months a pair of rainforest lasted about 2.5 years same conditions before waring out. acadia's are far more confortabole so if you stay off nice floors and out of cemicals these are for you.
I bought this boots expecting the very best, and they have brought me close to that idea, however, they have come to need craftsman work that I tought would be needed more later than soon. The inside insulation design has become loose and that is alittle disappointing when comes to taking the boots out. The price has also gone up by more than 10 percent, which is alittle disappointing. To finalize this; this are one of the best boots I have ever owned, the kind to keep
