Constructed of full-grain leather and lightweight, durable Danner wedge outsoles, the unlined Bull Run work boot may look like a simple design at first glance. However, the trained eye will notice the intricate stitching, the hand of the leather, and how all of the parts work together to simply create a product that is built to last.

What separates The Danner 6” Bull Run Moc’s from other big brand name Moc’s? THE LEATHER - Right out of the box the leather is very pliable. BIG difference compared to other brands. The thicker the leather the more rub you will experience primarily during your break in period and throughout the life of the boot (in some cases). Thicker leather does give support but Danner accomplished enough support without compromising comfort. The tongue of the boot was the most difficult piece of the boot to really get a comfortable fit during the break in period. I believe with the thinner chorded laces & quality leather of the tongue combined created this experience. By folding the leather inward along the eyelets I created a more natural feel as the tongue sat on the instep of my foot; however, this is to be expected with leather goods, they will need to soften with each wear. So don’t give up on your new boots just yet. I’ve broken in $1,000’s worth of leather boots and these Bull Runs have been the easiest to date. INSOLE - SNEAKER FEEL. I live in Arizona where it can reach triple digits in the summertime. Leather boots aren’t always my go to for the summer months, but from the first lace up till now I’ve felt like I have been wearing a pair of sneakers. With its pliable leather & insertable insole I’m not compromising on quality support nor a sneaker like feel. SOLE- The sole was thicker than most Moc’s. Initially out of the box the sole will have a hand grip give if you squeeze it. I believe this gives the boot a more natural give with your body weight and combining it with the insole results in that ‘sneaker’ feel I spoke about prior. THE TOE BOX- this boot is wide at the ball of your foot up to the toe box. Great construction in my opinion. I didn’t experience much, if at all, unwanted compression where the ball of my foot rests and flex’s when I crouch or kneel. The heel cup is more narrow allowing your heel to sit into the boot without any rub. I didn’t experience any heel slippage once I laced them up. I believe the lack of heel slippage is a result of the pliable leather, the natural give of the sole and softer insole. I’m getting creases in natural areas as time goes on, giving the boot a more natural feel. FIT- True to size. Enough said. Keeps the guessing work out. All in all great boots. I like the robust look to them. I definitely recommend them.
The boots are amazing, customer service is amazing, I ordered a half size too large and they accommodated me in return and I can’t wait for the perfect ones to come, I’d say snag a half size smaller than your favorite nikes
I usually never buy shoes online because I have weird feet. The only shoes that ever fit my feet perfectly are New Balance size 124E, and I have to try so many shoes and sizes before I can find what I need and want. Due to the lockdown, I had to buy work shoes online. I took a chance at these with size 12 2E. WOW! These fit perfectly and feel so good! I will only buy this boot for as long as I live and as long as you keep making it. Thank you!
I originally had the 6” Brown Cristy, and I loved those boots. But nearly a year into wearing them daily, the heel started to break up exposing the hard spine that was very uncomfortable to say the least. I got the boots on Amazon, and decided to see if Danner offered a warranty for boots purchased through third-party vendors, and they do! Not only did they pay for shipping for me to send my boots in, but they also gave me a credit to purchase any boots I wanted from their site. I loved the Bull Run Cristy and had my eye on a second pair with the moc toe, so I used the credit to buy them in black.
The break in period is negligible compared to other boots I’ve owned. The sole is amazingly comfortable from day 1, and the opening is really the only part that needed to break in.
Snug around the mid foot/ arch and roomy in the toe. I have a B width and am flat footed, so I thought they would be a little big but not the case at all. In fact, in my experience, these seem to run a bit narrow....although to my advantage.
So far these boots are amazing. Most comfortable boots I’ve worn at this point. Price is great for an American made product vs. some bigger brands. We will see if they stand the test of time but I’m sure they will.
This is a very comfortable shoe until the sole wear down, and it wears down fast then the shoes squeak like crazy, no wear to take them in and fix the sole. Cobblers seem to have vanished and if there is one he wants more money than a new shoe and takes weeks to get it back.
I own a pair of Bull Runs in the brown color. Bought the Black to cover the corners of my wardrobe. Bull runs are uninsulated and take a while to break in. They’re stiff when you get them but eventually they get supple. They look good on and run true to size.
I highly suggest using the Danner Clear Boot dressing to help protect the leather and give them a more broken in look.
Quality feeling boot. Good cradling support of the entire foot.
I would add the small can of leather balm or like Hestra gloves company adds a 1 oz plastic squeeze tube to at least get the boots lubed up once fresh out of the box.. second pair so I would advice a try...
I’ve got wide, flat as a board feet that require a prescription orthotic. After minor break in these boots fit like a glove and look great. The EE width is perfect and I typically run 4E in running and dress shoes. I’ll be purchasing this boot again.
At first they were very tight, but after wearing them a couple of days they have become just right. Even though they run a bit narrow at first I still give this boot a 5 star for craftsmanship. COmpared to my Red Wing boots they are a just as good.
A solid boot and a great price point for this type of classic style and quality. Very please with the look and the break in period was minimal due to the soft leather. Support seems to be on point as well. My one complaint is the sizing. I am somewhere in between sizes with this last and would like a more dialed in fit for my foot. Kind of picky, but nonetheless that is my qualm. I am overall happy with my purchase, but could be happier with a better fit. Thanks, Danner. Keep up the good work!
