great boot . I have Reynard disease , frost bite on my 1 toe and I use the boots all the time outside working or walking the dog and hunting or hiking they are lite and warm . plus you made them in wide width
Although the Danner description says they can run large, I first ordered a half size larger than I've had with other boot brands due to other size difference I've read about... I ended up returning the 10.5 and replaced it with a 10 (which has been my boot size in the past with other brands). At the end of the day, I found these to be true to size and very comfortable!
I had actually ordered four pair (different models/styles) in my first order, online here on Danner's site, and I encountered something very strange – in every case, the left shoe fit much more snug than the right. It was as if the two had been made on different assembly lines, or that someone had worn only the right shoe for a week already causing it to break in a bit. After returning them all, and replacing my Mountain 600 with a half size smaller (down to my actual size, 10), I still found the right to feel a bit looser than the left. I stuck with them, confident this would settle as they break in – after just two days, wearing them a few times, I find them very comfortable!
I had the exact same experience with the Arctic 600 Chelsea, which I also replaced down to my normal size 10, and also felt the right was looser than the left, but am feeling very comfortable in them and confident they will settle/break in.
The first pair of Danner boots that I purchased were the Mountain 600 model. After occasional hikes and days of work as a finish carpenter the seams in the leather uppers began to separate and they were no longer water resistant. When the lace hooks began to pop off (not while tying laces or wearing them overly snug) I decided to return them for warranty. Danner gladly issued me an online refund and I chose to purchase the Bull Run boots as they are marketed as a made in America work boot with seemingly better quality than the Mountain 600 and more suited for the work I do. Break in was not brutal and only took about two weeks after being oiled with Whites leather conditioner to be very comfortable. However the tongue doesn’t seem to be long enough and isn’t sewn in high enough which makes the tongue always migrate to one side of the boot leaving my socks exposed. After four weeks of wear the soles began to separate and I returned them under warranty. Danner again gladly replaced and shipped me another pair. The second pair of Bull Run boots had the same issue with the tongue and a similar break in time and after a 4-5 weeks one of the upper lace hooks popped off (again, not while tying, lacing or snugging them up. I was simply wearing them). I continued wearing the boots for another few weeks with the lace hook missing until I had time to drive to the factory store and explain that I would like a refund, not exchange because I no longer want to continue to exchange for boots that aren’t made with quality. Danner suggested that I was pulling the laces too tight when tying the boots and that if I wasn’t satisfied with the bull run boots I could try a higher end boot like the Power Foreman, Quarry, or their version of smokejumper boot and pay the difference. I was not willing to get into the $300-$400 price range with Danner because the quality didn’t look much better than the Bull Run at $190 and I already own a pair of whites and Hoffman's Boots. So, I left that day with a gift card because they didn’t have any Bull Run boots to exchange in my size and had to later drive to another danner store to pick up the boots, which after getting home and wearing I discovered had a large fold inside of the toe cap. I decided to wear the boots anyway after being frustrated with returns and exchanges but was forced to again return to a danner store after the toe cap cracked and separated from the leather after two days of wear. Another trip to the danner store to again ask for a refund, not return. Danner again would not refund my money but gladly issued me and exchange and suggested again that I try a higher end boot that was suited for work (you will find the Bull Run boot on display in their work boot section in stores and online). I left that day with another pair of Bull Run Boots only to return home to find that the right boot has no plastic toe cap at all! Another trip to the danner store today to ask for a refund, not exchange....same story. Danner did not have an exchange in my size but offered to ship me a pair when they are available next week after refusing to make another trip to the Danner store. How many times will Danner exchange defective boots and how can it be worth it for them? Danner has great customer service and return policies if you’re willing to stay with them as a costumer and try their entire boot line but their quality and designs are low and flawed. Please consider the time, energy, and money it will cost you to receive warranty exchanges. Please do your research when buying boots and buy truly American made boots (made in America with American materials) if you can. Thank you for taking the time to read.
Absolutely wonderful boots. The fit and comfort are stunning. I will definitely be purchasing more danner boots for more enduring uses. Thank all of the employees at Danner for making a stand out product.
Super warm, lightweight, & great style. The insulation effects the sizing slightly, but not beyond a 1/2 size. Excellent boots for the winter! Grab a pair of gaiters if you plan on trudging thru deep snow, as these are only ankle high.
So far so good. Very light boot with no break in extremely comfortable out if the box, most importantly my feet have been dry. I work outside and have had trouble finding a boot that’s light comfortable and dry. May have scored with these.
