We all walk a fine line between change for the sake of new versus change because it creates something better. As Danner developed the fourth generation Pronghorn, they looked back at the previous two decades of their most iconic boot. Danner extracted the best parts from each generation and created the new Pronghorn.

Ordered from online retailer. First, the leather does not match the website pictures. Leather is more of a splotchy/tiger stripe camo pattern. Secondly, I wear an 11 in all other Danner boots and based on the sizing chart from the website I ordered an 11. These boots run big in my experience.
Just wanted to offer a counter to the angry goat rental lady. Know your gear. No high leather boot is appropriate for your application, i.e. running. Get some gaiters. These boots are good for what they're designed for.
I have to wrap my ankles when wearing the boots or they begin hurting and I have to take them off. I tried wearing them while hunting last weekend and took them off and put my old boots and snake guards on as they were extremely uncomfortable around the ankles. I hope it is a break-in problem.
I have had these boots for 2 years without any major issues. Took some time to break in, but have been comfortable ever since. The waterproofing was bulletproof for the first year of mucking around. It could use some reconditioning now. The zipper does feel a little weak as mentioned by others, but as long as you don't manhandle the living tar out of it I don't see how it would break. Fit was good for me. I would highly recommend this boot, but the price is a bit steep. If they were in the $250 range, I would give 5 stars.
Have a pair of Pronghorns from 8 or 9 years ago, still going strong, but wanted a new pair. The originals had no zipper, but I figured I’d try it since it was all they had. Really didn’t want a zipper, especially after he bad reviews I’d read. Received them and worked the zipper a few times and sure enough it jammed to the point I thought I’d break the pull tab. Sent them back next day.
Boot was packaged with no support in the leather which caused it to wrinkle around the ankles and now has been a nightmare to try to break in without a ton of pain and rubbing on the ankles. Boot seems to be made cheaply compared to the US made boots I have from Danner. The overall fit is fine, but the care of the boot in the box is disappointing.
So far, so good, but haven’t had them long. With all these negative comments about the zipper, I’ve decided to lace them up every time to hopefully avoid issues. A little stiff around the ankles to break in but overall lighter than I expected. Happy with the product so far, hope they last for the money
Great boot and waterproof so far. Like the idea of the zipper to prevent lacing every use, but unable to use it due to a natural fold of the side zipper at the ankle. I would choose the same boot without the zipper, if available at a lower price. Great customer service!
The tanning of the leather is not what is shown in any of the pictures. Very unexpected and very ugly. They look like leapard or camo print pleather. Where is the nice leather from the website pictures? I talked to customer service and all I can do is keep returning and reordering until I magically get the boots they have advertised. I am unsure why the customer service department cannot communicate/coordinate with the manufacturing or leather ordering department if Danner is making a boot that looks totally different from the website.
Construction is terrible. Very cheaply made. I returned these boots and bought a different pair from a competitor. Quality is twice as good, for less money. I don’t know what happened to Danner, but it isn’t good. Run from these boots.
Awesome boot, Horrible zipper and no warranty when it breaks
The boots are comfortable and dry, but the zipper will break on you and Danner will not stand behind it. I wore mine for one season before the zips gave up. As a guide and avid outdoorsman, i demand a lot from my footwear. Danner has always delivered up until this point. If they would build this boot without the zipper, that would be the one to have.
i wear these boots everyday typical replace them yearly then use the old ones for hard rubbish work. havent had leaks i average atleast 10miles a day. plus my hikeing days and other days in the rocky mountains..... ill let you all know when the first pair final leaks . beat boots i have ever owned..... great for any one
I'm not sure why their are so many negative reviews on here. I was pleasantly surprised when they fit right out of the box. Got lucky on guessing size I guess. First long trip I took them on was in Great Saand Dunes national park. They fit great and had no problems with coming apart as others seem to have. Sand in the zipper did cause a small problem, but then again, sand in a zipper will cause issues with anything. Otherwise no problems with them, great traction for me on a variety of surfaces.
Bought a pair of these boots under the impression that they were a quality product as I needed them for additional protection in snake country. Wore them about 6 different times and on the last trip, one of the sole came completely off and the other boot's sole was half-way coming off. The rubber soles are just simply glued on with what I expect to be some sort of cheap "Chinese rubber cement". Of course they are now out of warranty and stuck with an expensive set of boots that are worthless. DO NOT BUY, THEY DO NOT LAST, AND DEFINETLY NOT WORTH THE PRICE (you are better off going to Walmart and buying a $14 set of rubber boots)..
I've now had two pairs of these boots. The first pair made one two weekend hunting trips before starting to leak and were covered under warranty. The second pair made one one turkey season and a couple of weeks of the following deer season before they started leaking. Otherwise, I love these boots but I need them to be waterproof to hunt in the swampy South. For the price, they should be waterproof as stated.
I bought a pair of pronghorn boots the summer my grandson was born, and have wore them 9mos out of thr year even my wife who at the time thought I was crazy to buy such boots, now says buy another pair, that was 14yrs ago. who ever new boots are a joke, side zippers changed the name on this new line to pronghorns has never worked or hunted in boots, this line is like some cheap knock off, please go back to making the real pronghorn boot and I will buy the first pair out of the factory, we would like to have our zipper lest pronghorns back as for first question wide widths fit great
I bought a pair of Danner Pronghorn Snake boots, mainly because a friend loved his and they seem to be the real deal. Beware: they are now made in Vietnam. The quality is terrible. The leather is cheap and feels fake. Don't waste your money on Danner.
These boots are really comfortable, great design, if you're going to wear even fairly often, don't buy. Danner's Customer Support was great. I had 2 pairs within a year, zippers failed on 3 of 4 boots. They finally refunded my money. I'll buy other Danner products, not this one.
There is a QC problem with the zipper, if I read they're redesigned or using all American, I'd buy a pair because they're really comfortable, but not until then.
I have bought two pair and both times the zipper broke. First pair zipper broke two months in. The second pair the zipper lasted a whole year. I called customer service and returned the first pair. Got into an argument because I had them 1 day shipped when I bought them and they wouldn't do anything but standard delivery. I can honestly say I am finished with Danner boots.
