These boots mean business. Love em and they are holding up alright. It took a week before they were broken in. My feet hurt after first day but then it got way better and I love them now. Just break em in before you judge them.

I wore the Danner Light
I wore the Danner Light and the Light II for over 40 yrs. until about the last 8 yrs. I could no longer purchase a pair where the inside foot was SMOOTH without the hard ripples they have now, that tore up my feet. Wearing a full insert was impossible due to the narrow toe's inside height in the widest size it came. There was not room without getting your toes smashed and a larger size in the widest size did not help. The toe bed is not tall enough for the thinnest insert and then you still felt the hard ripples through it. I have spent the last 7 yrs. trying many different Danner boots as well as boots of all Brands and have not found any that were comfortable as the OLD Danner Light and Light II were.
My wife found this boot and made me give Danner another try. The boot has the same style and looks almost like the Light. The inside foot bed without the insert is SMOOTH. It also HAS the toe room tall enough to wear an insert in it with good room to move your toes. So far I have found It to be as or almost as comfortable as the OLD Danner Lights.
It would give it 5 stars if it came in the BROWN like the Lights !!

Very comfortable
I purchased these boots for use as a Civil Air Patrol pilot. I needed something black, over the ankle, fire-resistant, comfortable for the hot summer months when we do most of our flying, and something grippy for security on tasks like climbing up on a high-winged 182 for refueling. They're extremely light and comfortable right out of the box, with a springy Vibram sole. When I put them on, I want to leave them on. I had also considered the Blackhawk, but the fit was funky for me and it's over a third more $. While they're not made in the US, so far I feel the price is on par with other brands. There are cheaper flight/military boots, but I hate cheap footwear.
Th only reasons I've left off one star: 1. I haven't yet tried them in summer--hope they'll be cool enough. Generally, I've found that synthetics are not as cool in summer as all-leather, and I'd dispense with the Goretex if I could. It's over hyped and probably helps to heat up your foot even if it does breathe slightly better than a plastic baggy. 2. They could use a little more arch support 3. I would prefer speed laces like they have some of their other boot models.
Otherwise, happy so far. I usually take a size 10--I had to go with 9.5. I like the toe box, which is roomier than the Blackhawk. Company service is excellent.
