Love these boots! Bought 2 pairs to rotate. The only reason I didn’t give them a 5 star rating is do to the first set of lace hooks at the ankle. Each pair of my boots have broke in differently and I’m finding that the first set of lace hooks are to close to the inner edge. They need to be recessed a least 3/4 of an inch back. The way they are now when you bend your foot or kneel down collapsing your ankle towards your foot the lace hooks dig right in to your ankle and depending on how your boots break in around that particular area you definitely feel them. I have other name brand boots I use outside of work more for hiking that recess their first set of lace hooks at the ankle further back so that they don’t dig in to your ankle. The padding in the boot from heel to toe is awesome! I’m an electrician and find when I’m kneeling a lot and having my toes bent for extended periods of time the padding in the boots quickly relieve any discomfort. I’ve tried a lot of name brand boots for the past 6 years and always ended up being disappointed after 6 months. So when I came across this style of Danners, they really caught my eye and I decided to try them on. The rest is history, like I said I bought 2 pair so I could rotate them.
Great feeling/fitting boot. When I first got them, they were a TINY bit too tight, but just like any other footwear they'll loosen up over time. They are incredibly sturdy around the ankle, which is the main reason that I bought the 8" model. The grip is incredible. Great boots. Good job Danner!
I’ve been a faithful dancer man for many years, but this pair of boots have been a struggle. I’ve always been a 9.5 wide, and Danner was the only one who truly fit me, but this pair is too wide, and to long. Also I have to wear two pairs of socks. I have sores on booth, left and right, top side of my foot where the leg joins the foot.
Great boot! They came the day before the SD pheasant opener so I didn’t have time to try them out. But right out if the box they allowed me to be in the field all day long with no hot spots. A little heavier than I was expecting.
I went with these mainly because I work in agriculture and wanted something that could stand a change against all the dirt and amount walking involved. I must say they feel amazing! I have to remind myself that I'm wearing them at all from time to time. They do feel heavy at first, but after 3 or 4 says, that feeling goes away. Amazing boots!
First off, ive been wearing Danners for years. I really liked the design of these boots, having the rubber toe guard. They were almost crippling to break in, but they fit well now that the soles have softened up a bit. The biggest issue i have with these is the waterproof liner does not breathe at all, and causes my feet to sweat. Ive never had stinky boots, but these are quickly becoming a pair. Overall they are an ok boot, for a throw away boot. I will spend more money next time and get the Quarrys again next time.
These are great boots that are extremely comfortable and require little break in time. There is ample room in the toe box (seriously there it a ton of room), and the toe has a nice rubber guard to increase durability. I absolutely loved these boots. That being said, these boots don't breathe. My feet tend to run on the hot side so they sweat. All of my other boots from Danner have the Gore-Tex lining, so while my feet sweat the Gore-Tex would allow the moisture to escape, so my feet aren't too moist. I love Danner products, and I really liked the looks of the Trakwelt, so I thought I would give the Danner Dry liner a try. Unfortunately, with the Danner Dry, my feet started sweating way more than normal, so I tried a moisture wicking sock, which helped my feet, but all the moisture was just wicked into the boot. Where it stayed. At the end of the day I had to take a rag and wipe out the boots because there was so much moisture in them, and then I had to put them in front of a fan to dry them out. These would be the perfect boot if they came in a Gore-Tex or unlined version. because of this issue I had to return the boots. The 3 star rating is because they are built really well, and for the overall comfort of the boot.
i have had the trakwelt 8" now for about 3 months, and they are very low quality. To start out with the boots were very comfortable, but after about a month and a half of wear they began to hurt my feet, and i installed a different insole which somewhat corrected the problem. The next thing to go was the waterproofing system, even just stepping in water and standing in it for a short time, the boot lets water in. I have had them oiled once a month since i have had them. Now they are still uncomfortable and make my feet sweat terribly as well as get them wet due to the above mentioned waterproofing problem. If i ever buy danners again they will be the ones with brand name waterproofing.
I usually order a new pair of boots a year and have always bought the quarries, then a pair of the viscous and they all fit perfectly and this year I thought I would try these and ordered the same size as I usually do (10 1/2 wide) but these were too long so I had to reorder a smaller size and went with a 10 and they fit perfectly. They didn't have much for break in time and are comfy. I would recommend and will be getting another pair.
