The original Workman was released in 2004. It was an instant favorite among tradesmen, carpenters, and other skilled workers who understood that one pair of well-made boots would outlast three pairs of mediocre ones. Today the original Workman is back, with a few improvements. Under the classic silhouette and natural leather, you'll find a completely new approach to support and comfort - one that makes the new Workman 13% lighter than its predecessor.
Poor quality in the sole. They cost way too much to have the sole falling apart in the first 7 months of owning the pair. I don't even wear them everyday.. Besides that the rest is amazing, the water proof is great the comfort is incomparable and they don't get too hot but it doesn't matter if they can't even make it a year..
The materials are cheap. The leather is thin and feels like it wouldn’t hold to a months worth of work. The sole is even worse. It’s cheap stamped rubber that has a curb in the bottom which makes it feel like you’re standing in on a ball. Very disappointed in these shoes, but what else do you expect from something made overseas. These were nothing like my previous Danners,
Very nice quality boot. I’m normally a size 11 but I went with a size 11.5 EE since I’ve seen the reviews that the boots run narrow. Once I received the boots I tried them on and immediately wished I went a full size up. I’m hoping I’ll be able to exchange these boots for a size 12 EE because I love how they look and the overall quality.
The pair fits true to Danner’s sizings. One of two issues that I’d be concerned over is the laces which may not hold up to arduous flexing as they have already shown to fray with being worn a handful of times and the alloy toe will create hotspots on the edges if your feet are not perfect - a category most of us humans fall into. Solid construction and great with a pair of thick socks or insole.
THIS IS MY THIRD PAIR OF DANNER BOOTS AND THEY ARE AS COMFORTABLE A PAIR OF BOOTS AS I HAVE EVER OWNED. MY PREVIOUS PAIR WERE A PAIR OF VICIOUS WITH COMPOSIT TOE WHICH I GOT OVER 4000 MILES, ON CONCRETE, OUT OF AND THE ONLY PROBLEM WAS THE HEAL WORE DOWN. THIS IS MY SECOND PAIR OF WORKMAN BOOTS, BUT FIRST WITH SAFETY TOE. I HOPE YOU WILL MAKE A NMT PAIR AS I HAVE TO TAKE THEM OFF GOING IN AND OUT OF WORK FOR SECURITY SCANNING. I WOULD SUGGEST IF ANYONE IS GOING TO WEAR HEAVY SOCKS THAT THEY ORDER A PAIR 1/2 SIZE LARGER.
Great boots. I won’t wear anything else. This is either my 12th or 13th pair of either the Workman’s or the Gritstones. I also wore nothing but Danner in the military and my hunting boots are also Danner. They do run a little narrow but you can order them wider. I always forget. Consumer Service is a little lacking. All things considered, I’ll continue to buy Danner boots.
Took about a week to break in. Never had a problem with them. Accidentally backed up and stepped on a rat's tail during work today. I didn't even notice and didn't hear it squeaking over the machinery. It chewed up my boot and I didn't feel a thing. Best work boots I have, better than my Quarrys.
Struggled for years to find a comfortable boot, that would hold up to my lifestyle. I work hard, & play hard. I bought these boots in October of 2011. They have held up flawlessly. While they aren't pretty anymore, they are fully intact, & functioning superbly. I've hunted in these boots, I've worked in these boots, & I've cut 40-50 cords of firewood in these boots. Granted, I don't wear them everyday as, I have other footwear for other applications. Although, they still get a lot of use. Cut two loads of firewood out in the woods, in the mud, & in the creeks today. Will cut a couple loads tomorrow, with these on my feet. Hope to get another 3-4 years out of em. Looks like that shouldn't be a problem. Expensive..? Yes. Worth every penny.....
I have owned a lot of pairs boots. I started taking care of of my footwear like I do the car. After letting many pair of boots go bad and fall apart, I purchased an inexpensive pair of boots and developed skills. When I was satisfied that I could take care of the boots, I looked for great boots. I have found them in a pair of Danners. I need a steel toe and none slip work boot. These boots are the best. They fit me with slipper like comfort and get better each time I wear them. There is daily maintenance to keep these boots the treasure that the are. It is all worth the while. I am on my feet all day, and I am not flush with cash. Pay attention to the needs of your Danners and they will serve you well.
I work for a municipal water department in Oregon, so I need a boot that is waterproof and comfortable to be on my feet all the time. These boots do both. They took forever to break in, longer than my 75 dollar GI boots from my time in the service and kept (past tense) my feet dry for about 11.5 months. As of today they are still comfortable, albeit slightly drafty in cooler weather and are no longer waterproof. For the money, my 8'' NMT Vicious are better boots to be completely honest.
Took a few days to break in but now 8 months in they fit like a glove. Comfortable to walk in and feet stay dry. Might only have given 4 stars due to high MSRP but bought them on clearance for big discount on MidwayUSA. Turned out to be a great deal.
I have had these boots since march, review 10/9/16. They took a while to break in, which I was slightly unhappy with. I walk around 2 miles a day doing various construction activities. (Forming concrete, climbing ladders, clean up, etc) I weigh about 240 pounds and the boots are very comfortable for bigger build persons. I take very good care of the boots, applying the waterproofer/conditioner about once a week maybe more if needed. 100% waterproof but very warm in the summertime for an uninsulated boot, but warm in the winter! At this point in time the boots are starting to stretch near the front of my foot( I have wide feet) and is causing my foot to slide inside from left to right regardless of how tight I lace them up. I have tried getting them wet and drying them by a fireplace to shrink the boot leather which usually helps them fit better for a while but will not work as well as I'd thought . As of today my sole rubber is seperating from the other piece of rubber I'm sure cause by kneeling down and being on my knees finishing concrete or doing other various construction tasks. While wearing the boot it feels like the heel is too thick for my personal preference . Reducing the heel depth could make the boot lighter and possibly more comfortable. Overall the boot I like but only giving it a 3 star. If some of the things about the boot were fixed or somewhat corrected it would be a 5!
