The original Workman was released in 2004. It was an instant favorite among tradesmen, carpenters, and other skilled workers who understood that one pair of well-made boots would outlast three pairs of mediocre ones. Today the original Workman is back, with a few improvements. Under the classic silhouette and natural leather, you'll find a completely new approach to support and comfort - one that makes the new Workman 13% lighter than its predecessor.
My new pair of workman boots are Extremely uncomfortable and very narrow steel toe. No arch support at all. Sole is rounded, convex like a bowl on the bottom of your foot, and feels unstable. Not impressed at all. I have worn pronghorns for years. Definitely seen a steady decline in quality. Maybe you should quit having your boots made overseas.
The fit guide recommended a D width for my B. I inserted anadditional footbed which took up a lot of the space. This is what we with narrow feet have to do. That God Atomic makes a narrow ski boot, the hawx ultra. I do recommend it.
I bought these to compliment a 20 year old pair of insulated Danner work boots while they were having the soles replaced. They are the same excellent quality of my older boots that are like a best friend to me. Now I will have a pair of insulated and uninsulated boots.
The danner workman has been the ONLY boot that has lasted me more than a year of work. As a beekeeper I work outside all day long walking in the early morning dew grasses and through the mud and yuck day after day. I've tried countless other brands only to have them come apart after the summers end. The workmen are still in pretty darn good shape after 2 years now. Still more comfortable than any shoe I've worn and are even still waterproof. Only thing going wrong is the stitching on the heel is starting to pull apart after kicking them off hundreds of times. Only thing I haven't liked is that they have terrible traction on the ice and snow. I will definitely be purchasing another pair of these boots!
I’ve been wearing this style for over ten years. I usually have two pair in rotation. I just got a new pair to add into the mix. The style has changed slightly, but still a solid boot. The price also went up.
The waterproofing wears out quickly, but judging by the conditions I put them through, I wouldn’t expect it to last. That’s why I rotate two pair, and try to keep the newer ones for wet days.
The break in period is like any other boot, but once you get them soft, they become an extension of your foot and ankle.
The leather uppers last a long time, with proper care. I’ve had a few pair resoled over the years, but they get clompy with the new sole and the broken in leather. I stopped this practice and just started buying a new pair when it was time to add to the fleet.
I’ve transitioned from a field employee, to an office field hybrid. I still wear these on the front end of the job, but once the site gets paving and concrete, I switch to my Red Wing cowboy style slip on boots.
Being a long time wearer and promoter of Danner boots I have been extremely disappointed in the new pair of workman boots I received for Christmas. This boot is promoted as lighter than before and it must be because the inside of the boot has zero padding for comfort. I go back to the best boot I've ever had on my foot which was the frontier model. The workman gtx was a step down and now the workman is at the bottom of the barrel. Please understand that I have a pair of frontier insulated sitting in front of me now that I love so much that I had them recrafted. They are amazing boots. I wear boots 5 to 6 days per week and I'm sad to say I'm going to have to look for another boot because these are killing my feet. Maybe it's because they not made in the USA anymore. So sad to write a negative review for a boot and company I've believed in for so many years. 11.5EE
This Boot fit really well no break in period I have kinda wide feet and find the Acadia boot of the same size a little tight but these fit really well, I have started wearing these as a hiking boot too and the ankle support is great. Only con i have with these is when the boots are lace up the great ankle support makes it hard to use the accelerator while driving or crouching down at work for more than a couple of minutes.
