I opted for the Hoka Mach X2, albeit with some caution due to numerous online reviews mentioning heel rubbing.\nNow, after putting 1,000 km on this shoe, I'm incredibly happy with my choice, though a bit sad to retire it as the cushioning has started to bottom out. I experienced no heel rubbing or blistering. The shoe held up remarkably well—the upper still looks almost new aside from some dirt and dust. The outsole remained grippy throughout, although both outer heel pads are completely worn down to the rubber.\nThis shoe handled every pace with ease, from easy runs to hard interval sessions. It truly shined during long runs at a steady pace. Hoka sent them UPS, who immediately lost them. When they missed the delivery date I reached out to Hoka and their only solution was to wait another week and see if UPS finds them. After waiting another week, I reached out again and customer service tells me they can only refund as \"we are not allowed\" to make a replacement shipment. This may be a premium shoe, I wouldn't know. They aren't a premium shoe company. They should have immediately rush shipped a replacement order with a return label for the missing order in the unlikely event UPS finds them. I like the plasticky upper material as it's super durable and breathable but could see how the little protection by the achilles could cut people up. Midsole and plate integration i think is fantastic striking a nice balance btw stiff responsiveness but cushioned for slower miles. My largest complaint was the outsole rubber durability wearing through and eventually peeling off within 100ish miles, sucks because the midsole still has a ton of integrity but without that rubber protection, quickly starting to wear through the foam and lose what was a stable landing. Fit-wise I usually get 13 to give me some extra space and found it good, would say it runs a little long and narrower. Despite outsole wear, currently at 300+ miles and still using. At first try on they felt very similar to the Mach 6 except for the ankle / heel bumpers that I think are to lock your heel in place. Took them out on my break in walk / run of 5k. About a mile in felt a pressure point on the inside part of my left heel. Kept going and it got worse, so I had to stop. Took of my shoes / socks off and there it was a blister from the ankle / heel bumper!! That's the worst thing so now I couldn't run until it heals otherwise it may get worse. I went to look at the reviews here and this is NOT an isolated problem!! This is a common complaint. Wish I had look at the reviews before buying, would've saved $$$, time, and pain! ugh.. This is the first time I've had a problem with a Hoka shoe (have owned 3 pairs), but this is also the first pair that came with the ankle / heel bumper. This shoe never felt quite right to me and I am going back to the Gaviota 5. I thought I would try it, but I suspect this is more for people who are running hard core on the balls of their feet and not doing what I am doing. The forefoot is a bit tight compared to normal, might be better with time. First 5-mile tester, heels rubbed so raw there was blood staining down to the soles. There's an obvious, protruding seam midline on the heels. I was sceptical to try this because of all the negative reviews. I love the Mach X but of course they stopped making that version. I'm not blister prone so I was hoping that would help and it did. But I definitely don't like the heel. It seems like the heel cup doesn't have enough volume. My heel felt like it was moving more than any other shoe, like my heel was too big for the space. They do feel fast and I love the color. After reading other reviews, I made sure to wear a thick padded sock. My first run was a 5 miler. By mile 4 the pain was real, my Achilles on both feet were torn up. \nFor my second run I taped some pads to my heels, that helped a little. \nAfter hitting 50 miles (two weeks) I had seemed to broken them in. \nI'm at 80 miles and I feel I'll be lucky to get 150 miles out of them. Which a shame given the price and the length of time it took to break them in.
