When Keen boots work, just buy them again. After trying the very cool looking Men's Ridge Flex Waterproof Boot, I discovered pressure points where the tongue is sewn into the upper sides. So I sadly returned them and "upgraded" back to the trustworthy Targhee III. But here's the real trick. I replaced the stock insoles with Superfeet Copper insoles (Amazon). Superfeet Copper insoles size M 9.5-11 E fit the Keen size 11 boots perfectly, as if they had been custom-made. Your feet are important- you take them with you wherever you go! So get these Targhee III boots now!
Been buying Keen Boots for at least 10 years. Wear them every day and find them very comfortable. Use the same style all the time. Once tried a different style but it had a different shoe last and was not as good for my foot. When you find your ideal style stick with it.
This is my first pair of Keens, and I am very happy with them. I was using another brand of hiking boots for my work shoes and my feet would hurt at the end of the day. Ever since switching to these boots my feet do not hurt anymore after work. Very happy with the boots.
The last pair of boots I had from Keens were called a wide fit which I had hoped to reorder in uk size 10.5 but not able to see on website so had to go for normal fit which so far seem ok but time will tell
Replaced a pair of Vasque boots that gave me blisters and foot pain. From the first time I put on these boots I was impressed with how stable they felt while not restricting my foot and toes too much. I’m looking forward to some long summer hikes my Keen boots!
So far I am very pleased with the boots they felt good straight away. I have fairly I have a fairly wide foot and the boots have much more room in the toe area than many other walking shoes that I've tried. They have been comfortable and no problems at all. Good grip. I havent tried them in the wet yet but they look very well protected.
My last pair of boots were Keen and they lasted three+ years of avg 75 miles a week hiking/jogging. These required no break in period, are comfortable, and the waterproofing works. I hope they last as long as the old pair. Too many companies sacrifice value for profit.
The pair of Targhee III boots I received must have slipped through the cracks during QC. When I went to put them on for the first time I thought there was a wad of paper stuck in the toe, but that wasn't the case. There was an excess flap of material in the toe of the boot that was jamming my big toe, very uncomfortable. I am very disappointed because I was super excited to try these but within 5 minutes of opening the box they were already back in the box with a return label. Not sure what is going on with keen lately, I bought a pair of keen dovers 2 years ago and within minutes of walking around In them the little yellow triangle treads started coming off. My latest pair of keen Philadelphia 8" had huge cracks in the soles within a couple months. Now this..
One if the very few boots that fit me comfortably and are wide enough to allow for using my custom made orthotics. Light weight and flexible they certainly are but not the most durable and only waterproof after two generous treatments with Nikwax or similar. I have just worn out my fifth pair in under two years but to be fair I do a lot of walking. They always split along the soft panels to the inside and outsides of the toe box and this same panel will be the first to part company with the moulded sole . Would like to try the new ridge flex design but as yet not found any my size in the UK. I have tried several other alternatives at every conceivable price point but non have yet matched Keens for comfort.
It takes a while(4yrs) - but I finally wore out my Old Boots. Got a new pair and off I went, about the same. The insole is not as soft or supportive as the old model. So I'll get some padded ones - but other than that, really good boots. NO break in needed - Very Waterproof even in slushy snow. Good traction and "LIGHT" on the feet even after a day on 14ers. Thanks KEEN for a great Hiking Boot !!!
I wore my old pair out after almost 10 years. They still felt amazing, but the back of the sole was starting to come free from the boot. Probably the way I remove my boots after a day of hiking. I lost that pair and they don’t make them anymore. I tried three other very popular boot brands and just couldn’t find a fit that I liked. Keens just hug your feet so well. I’ve got several miles on these and have done a little cattle working during calving season too. I love these.
I have had 3 of these now. Targhee II and then III. Best boot. Very comfortable. Feels like a shoe instead of a boot. I don't mind wearing them, don't feel like I'm wearing a boot. It's the non-boot boot!
Recommended by a friend. I bought keen walking shoes first, they are brilliant, totally waterproof and have been worn throughout the winter. The boots were worn on a long hill walk, totally comfortable from the first wearing and most of all waterproof, end of having wet cold feet. I've bought the same ones for my daughter and son too, and they love them.
I have had three pairs of keeps. Two hiking and one work. I able to get about 1yr out of each, not bad with wearing then everyday. So durability is there, my personal opinion the shoe laces are the worst. Each pair, the laces ripped within 3 months. Definitely for flat footed people, at least they didn't work for me.
I( have had these boot for about 2.5 years. For me they are very comfortable with great toe room. I own and run a ranch in Western Montana. Because they are so comfortable I wear them all the time. I have had no problems with the tops. They have worn very well. The problem is the soles have become totally detached except in the toe area. There is no evidence of any adhesive of any kind between the tops and the soles. I have tried 5 different kinds of epoxy to reattach the soles. None worked. I finally found 3M 4000 Marine Adhesive which seems to work. I have read 25 pages of reviews. Many of them complain about the soles falling off. Even recently 4 in August, 1 in September. Why can't you fix this problem? I can not recommend these boots until you prove you have fixed this problem. If that ever happens I would strongly recommend purchasing these boots.
My Women's Targhee III Boots were sold out everywhere I looked. So I contacted Keen and asked if I could just go down a size and a half and buy men's boots. They told me that should work, and it did! These boots are just as comfy and well-fitting as my women's size. Thanks, Keen!
Targhee III Mid steps up to replace my 10 year old Targhee II Mids
I took really good care of my old Targhees for several years, just using them in the mountains and in snow. They were light weight, great support and protection. Thermal socks kept feet warm, cooling socks kept feet cool. After 8 years I saw that it was time to wear these more everyday and at the construction site because I just wasn't wearing them enough. The daily wear and concrete took their toll and I was ready for new hiking boots. It was easy to pick the Targhee III Mid and I am so glad I did. They are lighter and provide great arch support. I am wearing these for everyday in the winter and heading to California to hike at the end of the month. Can't wait to live in my Targhee IIIs.
These shoes felt good out of the box. They look good and walking through a couple inches of water has left my feet nice and dry. Outside of the waterproof test, as with most waterproof shoes, over the course of a few hours of wear, my feet do get sweaty. Not as bad as other brands I’ve tried but still quite damp. Still all in all they are the best waterproof hiking boots I’ve ever had.
Good set of boots, they seem very durable in construction so far. Traction is good in slick conditions and so far they have not let my feet get wet. The only thing I wish is that the loop at the back of the ankle, used to pull the boot on, slayed flat against the boot, so my pant legs did not keep getting caught up on them. It's super minor, but worth pointing out. Overall, worth the money for sure, but it is also still fairly recent since I made the purchase.
I bought these boots in the Fall of 2020 for working in a BC campground, but I also use them for hiking during my time off. I have put these boots through heavy rain, sand, sea, water, muck and snow, they have withstood all the elements and never failed, solid build and good support. Looking forward to see how they will hold up this next camping season with the many paces we put in whilst raking gravel sites daily. I usually wear a size 9 but the 9.5 fit perfectly, I was concerned that the D width was going to be too narrow but other than a little tightness in the left foot, no major issues.
Shoes are great. Comfortable, great traction. Only issue is one of the lace holders on the side wasn’t sewn very well and was broken when I got it. Can make the shoe work regardless and didn’t want to deal with returning it. I would recommend this shoe!
Not the same sizing or something else wrong with the boot
I bought this boot online though another retailer mostly because Keen site took forever to load up and the boot has issues. I bought the same size boot as my previous Keen's (which I loved) and these are slightly bigger for whatever reason and the front of my right toe wears in the shoe making it basically unwearable, Maybe its also defective, I'm not sure.. They wont stand behind it, telling me it s a size problem,,,wait its the same size i wore for years in your previous boot.. Anyway I would not buy on line without trying and walking around quite a bit to be sure. Good luck.
