I bought a pair of Men’s Zionic Waterproof shoes for the trip and after two weeks of light duty hiking, the sole separated from the right shoe. We were hiking 3-4 miles a day and they couldn't even hold up for two weeks. I’m pushing 68 so it’s not like we were scrambling up boulders. I have another pair of Keen shoes that are at least 12 years old and they are holding up like a champ. Whoever glued this sole to the shoe, did a half assed job. Either that, the design of this sole is defective. Maybe that’s why they were discontinued. The sole was flopping around with every step. It got to the point where I had to cut it off. We had to make an unscheduled stop in a town to buy another pair of shoes. Never thought I’d be forced to deal with a pair of failing Keen shoes on this trip. Now the store where I bought them doesn’t want to give me a refund since I wore them. WTH? I’m very disappointed with the sub standard, shoddy quality of these shoes. The waterproof membrane performs well, no issues there. However the shoes does not breath at all. I am not sure if its a defective pair or what but my feet have been sweating profusely with these shoes, even with merino wool socks. I have had waterproof boots from Keen that did not have this problem. The only time that I was comfortable and did not feel I was walking with toaster ovens on my feet was on snow or when the temperatures were in the teens. As much as I like the look and fit I don't think I will be wearing them much more.
