Ever.","text":"As a professional survival instructor for the past 20+ years, I’ve historically gone through at least one pair of boots per season, to the point that they’re beyond the possibility of recrafting, no matter how well I take care of them. Not to mention how impossible it is to find a boot that fits my freakishly narrow size 14 feet. Boot companies that claim their footwear “runs” narrow are no exception.\nAnd then there’s Kenetrek. The ONLY company, on my radar, at least, that actually commits to a narrow width. These are undoubtedly the best-fitting, toughest, most comfortable pair of boots I have EVER had. And I’ve had them all, believe me. There is a breaking-in process, for sure, but I don’t trust a pair of boots that don’t need breaking in. Any manufacturer that sells themselves on “comfort right out of the box” is peddling shoddy footwear, in my opinion.\nAt first, I was skeptical of their “sanded leather”, as I don’t particularly care for any leather boot that doesn’t have that shiny smooth top grain, full grain feel to them. Those that don’t just feel like a lesser quality to me. But trust me when I tell you how genius Kenetrek’s sanding of their full grain leather is, as it soaks up their boot wax in a way that makes them impenetrable, as opposed to a shiny top grain where the leather treatment just sort of sits on top and never feels like it truly penetrates. Not so with Kenetrek’s sanded leather combined with their boot wax - it’s a game changer for me.\nAll in all, you cannot go wrong with these boots. The attached photo is my pair after hundreds of miles of brutal abuse before a well-deserved treatment with their boot wax. It takes quite a few hiking miles to break them in. The boots met all my expectations and then some. Normally I would never go on a hunt like this without breaking in new boots, but this year I did not have a chance to do so. The first time wearing these boots was during this hunt. They were comfortable with no blisters or hot spots on my feel. I also felt great support in my ankles and arches.
