The XKG Windstorm Rain Jacket will change the way you think about rain gear. With 4-way stretch flexible fabric and brushed polyester to reduce noise, it will perform during the toughest weather or when you just need a windbreak - you'll never have to worry about the annoyance of noisy fabric.
Taped seams and watertight zippers keep moisture out. And at just 8 ounces, this windproof, waterproof, and breathable piece is easily packable.
A drawstring adjustable hood and waist keep the jacket comfortably fit. And extended zippers on the side pockets allow for easier access when wearing a backpack belt.
The XKG Windstorm Rain Jacket is the ultimate shell piece for the XKG Series - you'll never want to hunt without it. Features:
I am a fan of all the XKG gear. This jacket is one of the only waterproof jackets that keeps me dry and cool in the Texas heat. I actually thought it was leaking because it felt so nice after rain storms. I was dry as can be. Great piece of gear.
Good quality. Good fit for the jacket. Pants run really big.
I wear a Large shirt and 34 or 36 pant depending on brand. The jacket fit great, got the large. Got the large pants and they were huge. Ended up returning for the small and they fit good with plenty of room. Frustrated that I had to pay for return shipping to get the right size of pants and that it was so far oversized but overall I'd recommend to buy, just be careful with sizing. The fit of the pants could definitely be improved upon and follow standard sizing much closer.
The pros: for the price (I got it on sale), this is a pretty good wind/rain jacket. The material does a decent job of breathing, I used it on an early November deer hunt in southern Arizona. It packs into a much smaller and light weight bundle than my older Gore-tex jacket. Not sure how it would do in the rain as we have not had any measurable rain in months in AZ. It does cut the wind pretty well. The cons: as others have noted the zipper leaves a lot to be desired, wish it had sturdier YKK zippers, might switch the zipper over myself. One of the biggest issues I have with some of the Kings Camo stuff is the lack of consistency in the color of the clothing. I purchased the Desert Shadow which in the past has been a muted color. This jacket is brilliant, almost shiny, which means it does not blend in as well as my much older gear. Bottom line: despite some flaws
Well, as most hunters do, they wash their gear before their hunt in some sort of scent killer wash. Well, I live in Arizona and we don’t get much rain and I ordered this jacket (just in case), way before the rain season began. So, I tried on the jacket and it fit so I put it back in the closet. When my hunt was coming close, I decided to wash it, following the manufactures recommendations. After the wash, I went to try on all my XKG gear and this jacket didn’t zip back up. Turns out, the zipper broke (second XKG camo this has happened to), so I wrote Kings Camo and they agreed to replace it. Its been a week and and I still have not received the replacement. I love the pattern of this camo, but the quality is seriously lacking. After using my gift card, I don’t think I’ll be buying from this company again.
This thing is incredibly packable without having that "sticky" feeling that some cheaper rain layers have. The brushed exterior stays relatively quiet without adding any bulk. Its also a great layer for keeping the wind off of you, and the combo of this and puffy jacket are hard to beat. I wish they made this in a solid color because I would use it for day to day use around the house and at the office.
Bought the windstorm pants and jacket in xl. Fit good over my hunting pants, I wear a size 32 waist so figured to get them a little bigger. Fit and function of them are as advertised. Would recommend to other hunters for sure!
This rain jacket is everything you need. I tested it but going for a hike in the pouring rain and when I was done I was bone dry under the jacket. It rolls up tight to squeeze into your backpack when you don’t need it.
I'm usually on the top end of a Med. in shirt sizes so I went with a Large on this Jacket. Fits very well over a shirt or 2 underneath. not overly baggy. I think it will be great come early archery season.
It doesn't have any pit or back flap vents, so i worried about getting hot. Wore it all day during a meeting in early April. We had frequent breaks and dismissals to lunch, etc. so i just kept it on even during the hour long indoor sessions. didn't get hot & sweaty in it during the indoor sessions & when stepping out into the downpour it kept me plenty dry.
the Large size packs down about the size of an overstuffed Qt. size bag. not the smallest, or lightest, but also a quality product. It will definitely be making lots of trips in my pack with the climbing stand come Oct.
Zipper pockets are nice & well placed. I like the hood too.
Some great features..but could use 1 additional thing
I just received my Kings Realtree Camo , XKG Windstorm rain jacket. The best feature (In my opinion anyway) is the attached, visored, adjustable hood which provides forward, upper and side-view visibility unlike many other rain jacket hoods that tend to just plop down on my head and cover the bridge of my nose. The fact that the hood is attached is another benefit because it keeps water from seeping down your neck and getting the clothes on your back all wet. This is indeed a packable, light weight, stretchable, un-insulated fabric that depends upon layering for warmth. This jacket fits true to size but if you are planning on using this in colder weather where heavier layering will be used (Like in a cold, windy, rainy duck blind where your swing cannot be impeded), you might think about ordering a size larger than usual. The extended back of the jacket is definitely noticeable and not simply a sales gimmick. The only feature I would suggest are strapped, Velcro cuffs to prevent water from wicking up the forearms from the wrists. Kings camo has definitely thought out the design of this jacket and I am very pleased with my purchase.
I'm 6'8" and around 280lbs, I really couldn't afford the the ridiculous prices of the so called top camo patterns do to size restrictions and price, so most of my camo was hand me downs from military stores which were to short in the legs and arms. The entire line of kings camo is truly top notch and very affordable,, if your in the market for camo whether your a big guy like myself or you just need a great affordable camo.. Kings Camo if you answer, thanks Kings for updating my hunting wardrobe I'm finally in the mix.
Item arrived just in time for a forecasted rainy weekend hunt. Performed exactly as expected and I was dry through the entire 4-day weekend hunt at elevation here in Montana. Breatheable also as I was hiking quite a bit. I would definitely recommend to anyone.
Jacket is nice, but it runs smaller than normal sizing. I always wear a medium, but the sleeves are a bit short. I need to return it, but haven't done it yet. I haven't worn it, other than to try it on.
Great Jacket! I wore this jacket for a week during an Elk hunting trip in the John Day Wilderness Area in Oregon. Was mainly wearing as an outer shell for warmth. It did not leak when it rained. This is a great jacket and it's quiet! You do not need to spend more money than this to stay dry and it's a great outer shell for any time. Thank you!!
This jacket I purchased through Kings is exceptional, fitting is exactly as described,Quality constructed this was part of a order placed with the XKG-windstorm rain pants. Not in the least disappointed in the craftsmanship in the items. I would like to add great customer service as well very helpful in helping make the decision on their products. Thanks once again King's Camo !!
Absolutely great jacket! Very light, compact, and quiet. I have walked through quite a bit of cat claw wearing this jacket and it has held up very well for not being a shell. I haven't noticed any pulled threads as of yet. Cat claw is a gear's nightmare, it will tear some of the toughest gear on the market. The only negative comment i have about this jacket is that the zipper is a little tough to get started, but that is very minor and probably only a single case deal. I actually wear this even when it isn't raining because I love the camo and it will retain little heat which is good for mornings here in AZ. Arizona is the toughest on gear as far as likeliness to tear the clothing and this passes with flying colors.
This rain jacket is great. Very quiet. I was little worried about having to buy a Mens Medium because there weren't any in a smaller size. But, it fits nicely over all my equipment and easy to get on and off when in a hurry. Leaving lots of room. The material is very nice but completely waterproof.
Looked far and wide for the Mountain SHadow pattern in a windstorm jacket with hoodie. Ordered online - arrived very quickly. Haven't had a chance to wear it out in the field yet, however, on trying it on the size is good other than the sleeve length, which is 1-2" short (I ordered the XL - I'm a 37 inch sleeve length, so if you have long arms, may want to order the XXL).
Bought the Rain Jacket for my husband for work, hunting, camping and anytime he needs it when outside. He loves it. Being an xxxl man, the lightweight fabric kept him dry and warm without the bulk. Can't wait til I can get me one!
I purchased the jacket and pants for a Moose hunt in Newfoundland and was very pleased with the jackets performance. It kept me dry and stopped the cool damp wind off me. They are light and easy to pack. I would recommend the jacket. This set was the only ones in camp that stayed dry. Thanks for a great product.
We had 3 days of rain during my Elk hunt this year. Just after Mother Nature Released Her Fury on Our State. The XKG Jacket kept me Dry& Warm as did my XKG pants.I would recomend to any hunter. I have the Mountain Shadow the camo works Awsome ! Could've shot Mulies everyday didn't have a tag for deer,2 at 30 yards didn't even know I was there.
