The 28 is smaller than any other 28 I have ever purchased from any brand, and the 30 fits like a loose bag. Not sure why kuhl struggles with sizing so much. I am typically a 35\" waist in Kuhl pant but 36\" fit perfectly. I also ordered 38\" but those were too large. I am 6'2\" and 225lbs. Average build. The waist isn't stretchy at all and a little uncomfortable. The pants are a little stiff as well. Wish they were full fit and also had a button instead of a snap. Otherwise hands down the best. Won't wear anything else and have owned several pair over the last 10 years or more. They still look pretty good too! I just buy more to rotate lol. Wash inside out and make sure to not leave in the washer long. They could get crease marks. Hang dry! Size up because the the size is true but there is a flannel liner. I wear a waist 33 in the Rydr, and in non-Kuhl pants I wear a 32. I purchased a pair of the Hot Rydrs using my regular Rydr size and unfortunately washed them without trying them on. The waist was very tight. I went back to the.Kuhl store and tried on the Hot Rydr and needed a 34 waist. Beware if you order these that the waste is larger than the regular Rydr, at least for me.
