I can't say enough about these pants. I've been searching for a while for a pair of lightweight, synthetic travel pants that look great and have a more modern fit. These pants fit the bill in spades, and they are already my go-to pants even when I'm not travelling.
I had one previous purchase of the Renegade style and loved them. I saw another great color to add to my wardrobe. Just as pleased with these. Incredibly comfortable and good looking. Can wear anywhere.
I got the Afire Chino pants a few weeks ago. This is my second pair of Kuhl pants and as always they are fantastic for hiking and travel. They kept me cool, and protected from the sun on my trip to Boise. The best part is they look great with anything and are nice enough to wear out for a night out. Thanks
The fit of these is just perfect. Not too baggy, not too slim...just all perfect throughout the entire pant. Fabric has a nice stretch that moves with you and is unrestrictive but doesn't have a technical look to it so it can easily be worn around town yet I fully trust these on a hike as well. HUGE fan of the cinch at the bottom cuffs, really makes the pants next level. Really rad. Will be getting another pair for sure.
Renegade Rock and Afire Chino are great tapered hiking/traveling pants. The material and design are the best that I have seen. Most men don't mind if pants are longer and bigger at the waist. But I like well fitted clothes. The inseam for these pants are slightly longer. The waist dimension for size 30 fits better for size 31. The waist 28 fits better for size 29. Once you find the right waist fit, it feels very comfortable and fits perfectly for athletic legs. My local REI store doesn't carry Kuhl's tapered pants. Thus, it's costing me return fee for getting various sizes and styles to try on.
Love kuhl products, can't seem to wear enough of them. Pants are lightweight, excellent for me 5'10 175 athletic build, 33x30 . The cell phone pockets make it hard to wear anything but kuhl pants now..
I bought two different types of Kuhl pants, I wanted to give them a try. Both styles were nice. It's a good effort overall, however the fitting is not good. There are ugly bags that get formed in top area of the pants. I really think Kuhl needs to make a better job with tailoring. On the website and with the models, the pants look great, but once on, the fitting is bad. The same was true of one jacket I bought which had super long (monkey long) sleeves. Could it be manufacturing issue? Maybe, but after two different pants + 1 jacket exhibiting fit issues, I doubt it. It think it's poor tailoring.
I have several different Kuhl pants. These by far are the most comfortable and I can tell they will be incredibly durable. The pants are so much more comfortable than the photos appeared to look online. Will be getting another pair.
I'm 5'7" and 160lbs; I usually wear 31x30s but sized up due to availability. The 32x30 are just right around the waist but pretty baggy throughout the legs, and a bit long for me. I read reviews saying to air on the shorter side for length because a phone in the phone pocket hits your calf while walking if you go too long; this is true, I kind of have to hike up my pants a bit to keep this from happening. But the fabric and performance is awesome. Super light and sweat resistant; it's great not having to think about sitting on damp logs or splashing my way through a creek, water wicks right off. I was kind of hoping to use them for business casual type wear but the material is too swishy.
Of the many Kuhl (work) pants I have, this one is my favorite. It offers just a bit of stretch, is fast drying, has sleek stealth pockets, and has a reflective cuff at heel that folds up if you get caught in the dark and need to be seen. Excellent combination of features! My only request is more colors!!!
Quality, smart-looking pant - waist sizing runs large
I ordered several different brands of hiking pants trying to find a good balance of durability and practicality (e.g. quick drying) with a cut that isn't embarrassing to wear around town. These were the winners, with enough room on the thigh yet tapering to a normal leg opening. I don't need Kuhl's signature "stealth" pockets, but I don't mind them, and they are certainly less obtrusive than some other style of cargo pockets. The fabric's a little shiner than the nylon blend of the Prana Zions I tried, but while I'd prefer a matte finish the overall pant is much better for my purposes.
I'll say that I appreciate Kuhl offering size 28 waists, as this is not guaranteed, but waist sizing is definitely on the large size. I'm a pretty consistent 28 and both the Afire Chino and the regular Renegade Pant fit me with room for a good two or three fingers between my waist and the pant. It's not awful, and I'd probably wear a belt anyway, but as a trim guy, I wish that the 28s were true 28s as it'd be more comfortable. Overall, Kuhl's "tapered" fits offer the best cut I've tried for technical pants.
As a professional travel adventure photographer, these Chinos are perfect and appropriate wear for desert mountain shooting locations, as well as at my client's place of business. Comfort, style, durability...these Chinos have it all. Highly Recommend.
