My new Kuhl jacket is great. It is really comfortable and looks great on me. I will probably wear it every day this winter. It’s very warm and almost replaces a light outdoor coat. I wear it inside and under my coat when I go outside.
This Sweater is a quality piece of outerwear that could be worn on it's own or as a final layer with a waterproof shell. That said it wasn't what I was looking for. I could tell it was made to last with good material. I'm a small in most garments and this fit me really loosely almost like I would wear it as a jacket and I sadly returned it.
I was very disappointed in this garment. The fit was off for my size. Too baggy for me at medium. If I buy small, the sleeves sowed be too short. But that’s not the reason for the bad review. The fit though the arm is so restricting that it felt like I was put in a straight jacket :(. Not expected of Kuhl garment known for articulated joint seams.
I have the Intercepter fleece and was excited to see another fleece with full zipper vs. the 1/4 zip. This is a really nice looking and comfy jacket and is much heavier and warmer than the Intercepter. I don't have any real world experience with it yet as live in AZ and it is still hot here and I have not been able to travel to the mountains. It runs a little larger than some of the other things I have from Kuhl - arms are a little longer and chest is little bigger which will be nice for layering. Only issue I had was some stitching in the sleeve didn't feel right so sent back and ordered another one.
I hoped Kuhl would come out with full zip sweater like this and have not been disappointed. I have been looking for a mid/heavyweight wool sweater with an athletic cut and this one checked all the boxes. I originally tried the Skar, which is wonderful but is much more like a shirt or lightweight sweater compared to this heavier weight Thor FZ. I really like the heavier weight and the warmth is provides. I found the sizing surprising. I wear a Medium in most everything. The Med Thor FZ hung like it was a half size too large. I was wary of ordering a Small, but when it arrived it fit beautifully as do the rest of my Mediums. Note that the sweater is cut to run a little long. Very happy with this sweater and look forward to wearing it all season
YOUR STINGY WITH YOUR POCKETS. I have a Kuhl I bought some time back, It has 5 pockets. Three zippered (one on the sleeve) and two inside pouch pockets. Hope you'll keep that in mind for future designs.
I was thrilled to see that one of my favorite 1/4 zips, the Thor 1/4 zip was being released as a full zip jacket. I received mine in the mail yesterday, and it is like all Kuhl products...very well constructed of really fine materials and of course it fits exactly as all my other Kuhl clothing does. Last year I remember thinking time and again that it would be great if the Thor 1/4 zip could be released as a full zip to make putting it on easier, and I'm happy it was released. It's awesome in every way with only ONE design flaw...what happened to the thumb holes? It is a great feature in many of the Kuhl jackets, and a lot of the 1/4 zips, including the Thor 1/4 zip. When I tried my new Thor FZ this morning I noticed that the built in thumb holes were replaced with a loop within the sleeve that (I think) was designed to keep the jacket from riding up. The problem with this is that no matter how I tried to arrange my thumbs in these loops they are uncomfortable as heck, making them essentially useless to me. I certainly used the thumb holes in the Thor 1/4 zip, but these loops are very uncomfortable. That said, the jacket still gets 5 stars from me as it's an amazing jacket, but I guess if I had to pass something on to the design team, I'd recommend bringing back the thumb holes in the sleeves, which are really comfortable. That said, keep up the good work Kuhl...I continue to love your products, including the Thor FZ which I intend to wear as long as I can here in Vermont.
