Getting ready for a ten day trip around South Utah parks, I had to very reluctantly retire a trusted ten-year old pair of Merrell Goretex Outland's and decided to go with the waterproof Moab's. Glad I did. I've been lucky with Merrell's fit - other brands are really hard for me to break in, but Merrell's seem to fit right out of the box. Touted around Mt. Rainier trails before the trip with no problems, and the they handled great on the trip itself. I was usually carrying ~15-20lbs with camera gear, but I'd probably choose these for most ~3 day overnighters over another brand's backpacking-specific boots. Water crossings were no issue. My wife ended up ordering both the Mids and the Lows in women's and she loves them.
If I could make one suggestion to the Merrell team, it's to consider bringing back the Outland one day. Beyond that, keep doing what you're doing.
I always choose a Merrell boot with a Vibram sole. I am a solar installer and need to navigate on steep rooftops (metal & Asphalt) . These boots are comfortable and help to keep me from sliding off roofs.
This is my third pair of Merrells. I have one pair of hiking tennis shoes I beat around in that I’ve had forever and a pair of Merrell hiking boots that all I do is hike with and are 7+ years old that simply won’t die! These are super comfortable boots out of the box. Honestly I bought this pair to wear out and about with jeans because the ones I hike in stay pretty dirty. I like that these have more of a heel which I like. I hope they hold up as well as the old pair! They look great! Great Vibram bottoms as always! Honestly didn’t even bother look at any other brand of hiking boot. Merrells just last and fit great.
Because I have always had trouble finding womens hiking boots in wide enough widths, I made inquiries in my hiking group and these were suggested by several women. They are really comfortable right out of the box! They look good and appear to be well made. I am hoping to tackle many mountainous miles with these boots!
Merrell makes the absolute best shoes in my opinion. Within hours of receiving the shoes I got to test them out and I could not be happier. The hot coffee may have got my legs but my feet were dry and happy. The hike that followed was the best hike my feet have ever experienced. Thank you Merrell and the folks whom make these wonderful shoes! I will be a life long customer.
I've been wearing Merrel Mocs for a long time, but this was the first non-moc shoe I got here. It's been great so far. Very comfortable. Pretty waterproof. Good traction on hikes. The size is smaller than expected.
Recently I have moved to Montana. I needed some hike boots to keep up with my new friends. I ordered these online from Merrell. They fit perfect and looked awesome. I put them to the test and they performed as good as they looked. My feet stayed dry and they were comfortable. I would not hesitate to order products online from Merrell again and would highly recommend them.
Wanted to wait til I actually put these to the test before giving a review (Always wonder why products are reviewed right out of the box). I have been a Merrell Chameleon fan but needed some better ankle support The Merrell Labor Day sale on the waterproof Moab was great timing for my Hiking vacation in Hendersonville and DuPont Recreational Site at the end of September. I wore them regularly in to “ beak them in” before our vacation. Honestly I really didn’t need to. They fit to size and were comfortable and gave good support. I enjoy the hook tie at the top of the shoe to give better ankle support. Glad I gave the Moab line a try. Very pleased.
Last pair i had lasted three years...could have continued to wear them but my toes blew out of the front. Well made, very comfortable, and with the usage i got out of them i paid about $45 a year. New pair has been reinforced at the toe so looking to get an additional year out of this pair. Glad they make them.
This is a comfortable boot and handles all the types of hiking I do, except that it is not waterproof. Anytime I hike in moist grasses, my socks and feet get wet. I wasted my money buying these boots. I'm ready to buy a boot that is really waterproof.
This is my second pare of Moab 2 mid. I out grew the first pare. I use this boot for work on forest trails that are very uneven. They are very comfortable and have great support. Can wear them all day.
I have always been pleased with the quality of these boots and how they stand up well to my many miles I put on them, which is why I've been a returning customer for many many moons. Please keep up the good work.
I am a Merrel user because I like the quality that is part of the brand. If it wasn't that way, I would not use them. I am from Upstate NY where we have a lof of bad inclimate weather... we also have the Adirondack Mts for Hiking. I wanted a boot for both. The first time I had these on, I hiked a hill and was in the woods setting up a tree stand for the upcoming bow season. .... Snug fit, very comfortable.... no blisters. Seem like the perfect all around boot I was looking for and will be great everyday boot when the snow flies. Everything I read about the Moab2 was true!
A great shoe for someone that has foot problems.. I bought these shoes because I have a problem with flat feet and recently developed a case of plantar fasciitis in both feet. I walk on concrete floors 10 to 12 hours a day and the stability and support in the arch and in the heel of these boots are second to none. They are a great shoe for anyone who enjoys the outdoors But also can be used from Monday to Friday 9 to 5 as well. Thanks Merrill for saving my aching feet, they are now happy feet.
I have very wide feet, especially my toes, so finding a boot that doesn't squeeze my toes is a challenge. I went a half size up (10.5 to 11) and that was a good decision. These boots feel great. It's been a long, long time since I had boots this comfy.
I have been wearing Merrells for years and they never let me down. Very comfortable, durable and they last. I also have the low ventilator, great shoe for warmer weather. This Mid hiking shoe with water repellent features is the best. I hike in them all the time, no complaints. I have tried others and nothing compares to merrell.
This is my second pair of Merrell Moabs. I had my first pair for over 10 years and used them for everything from hikes and extended backpacking trips to volunteer work. The out of the box comfort is amazing. They stand up to whatever you want to put them through. I tried out a bunch of different boots before ordering this pair and nothing came close to the Moabs. Boots are super subjective, but for my money, the Moabs are the best.
