The Wave Rider 22 is an evolution and refinement of our franchise running shoe. Midsole improvements and a new upper design provide a softer, smoother running experience. This soft cushioned running shoe incorporates a 2-layered engineered mesh upper for excellent breathability and comfort. Cloudwave cushioning technology has softened the runners experience, while maintaining a responsive ride.
My knees don't hurt after long runs anymore. I'm back to Mizuno. After searching around for the last year between Asics and Nike, I've found the most comfortable, light shoe ever. I wouldn't change a thing..
I used this shoe as both a daily trainer and an all day work shoe. As the work shoe, it performed admirably and the cushioning in durable and firm but relatively forgiving given Mizunos tradition of support, especially through the midfoot.
As a trainer, I knew going in the the 12mm offset would be a bit aggressive (I normally run in 4-9mm offset). This led to a clunky feeling when trying to get quick turnover. On longer and slow distance runs, however, it felt great underfoot no matter the day or conditions.
In terms of materials, this shoe spares no expense in an actually pretty affordable package. The only thing I would have loved would be a better moisture management system from the inside of the shoe out from the insole to the strobel and beyond.
I have run a little over 70 miles in these shoes so far and find them to be a very solid all-around shoe. I really like the wave plate technology that transfers energy throughout the sole. The shoe has a nice cushioned feel but it does not lose its responsiveness to gain the cushion. The sock-liner hugs the foot very nicely creating a very comfortable feel and the ample padding in the ankle collar allow you to lace the shoe up tightly without discomfort. The down side of the padding was that it held a little more water than I would have liked but this was a small concern and only on really long runs in very wet conditions. Overall, this shoe is a great choice. I love how it feels like a racing flat but affords more cushion and forgiveness. It is light, attractive and responsive. I use this shoe for road running and treadmill exclusively and am excited to race in it this fall at some local 5k´s and holiday fun runs.
Hands down, these are the most comfortable shoes I've ever owned. I will definitely be buying another pair of shoes from Mizuno once these are worn out. And the gold and black color scheme looks great.
I got a pair in white this week....love 'em...great fit, good support....super comfortable ..and i've got arthritic knees..just what the doctor ordered....really...Like them so much , I bought the other 3 colors today. Great them while they're there.
The Wave Rider is a great shoe... But there are lots of great shoes, and plenty of them come in great colors! How did you end up with five color schemes, and not one of them is bright and exciting? At least the Wave Rider 21 had green. I'll check again next year, and maybe return to Mizuno!
