I run frequently and I’ve achieved many PR’s using the Pegasus Turbo’s. They’re extremely comfortable and they give you that extra edge at the end of long runs when you need it the most. I’ve read about many issues regarding the durability but after a couple hundred miles, they’ve held up quite nicely. These are definitely the best Pegasus model to date.
I have been getting ready for an upcoming marathon and have been piling on the miles. Typically over 50 per week. The shoes I had been using were leaving my legs pretty fatigued and injuries were starting to creep up. I decided to try the Peg Turbo for comfort and I was not disappointed. They are also a fairly fast shoe and remained comfortable at faster paces. Couldn’t be happier.
I got this shoe on release day and it has seen limited wear since. This weekend I just noticed that the heal had already split and will likely crack off with not much more use. The shoe is super comfortable and one of the best runners I have had but can't recommend it.
I absolutely love this shoe. When I got them I loved the design. As a person with flat feet either a show will kill my feet or they will help support my low arches. These a are a flat feet sufferers dream. I plan on using them for running but they feel so nice I am going to get a second pair for recreational wearing as well. Such a soft cushioned response. My ankles as re supported. I've only worn them out once and someone commented on how much they love them already!
Excellent comfort with low-weight and lots of bounce
I've worn these shoes for the last three months, and I've been very pleased with their weight, performance, etc. Their price is a little higher than what I was used to with regular Pegasus shoes, but they are so much more comfortable, especially during runs of 8+ miles. I highly recommend. They've been my daily running shoes for three months, and have held up to 250+miles pretty well.
If you read and watch a lot of shoe reviews across the web you'll probably notice that this shoe tends to be quite polarizing. People either love it or think it's a disappointment. Well, you can mark me in the former camp. The key is going in with reasonable expectations -- just because this shoe has zoom x doesn't mean it's going to be comparable to the Vaporfly 4%. But that's ok. It's great for easy and moderate pace runs, regardless of distance. And it's a pleasure to wear on recovery runs. I also periodically end up using them during tempo and progressive runs and they were more than serviceable (though not my favorite). I do, however, find them too soft for my liking on tracks. Also, I know some people dislike the upper because the stripe irritates their toe, but this is perhaps my favorite upper on a Nike running shoe...ever. Again, this shoe isn't for everyone, but I'm a big fan. Durability wise, I think both the zoom x and react foam hold up quite well in the shoe.
I absolutely love to run in this shoe...like seriously love it! However, for $180 it is unacceptable to have worn through the rubber outsole with less than 125 miles on them. My Nike Epic Reacts have just over 500 miles on them and they just now started to wear though the rubber outsole. Truly disappointed because this shoe is so light and comfortable but I feel like I have been had when they claim it is a "daily trainer"...it is not.
My 15-year old son picked these shoes because they were so comfortable. Bought in August and by mid-October, the soles were splitting apart in the front and the back. For this much money, I would have expected the shoes to hold together longer.
This shoe is an absolute home run. I ran maybe 10 steps and I could not believe the difference. They feel so right on my feet that I actually felt more confident while running in them. I’ve tried lots of different shoes over the past several years, some that I’ve liked and a few that I have not liked but I have never had the experience I had today with any other shoe. I know they cost more than many other shoes out there but believe me, they are worth it. I have no hesitation in recommending these shoes to any runner! One word of caution, I typically wear a 10.5. The store didn’t have a 10.5 so I tried an 11 and wound up buying an 11.5, a full size up from my usual size.
I've just gotten into Nike shoes this year, and have to say these are absolutely incredible. Light, yet soft and bouncy all in the same shoe. I used these to train for the Berlin Marathon earlier this year, and my runs kept feeling better and better in them. After 15 miles I seemed to have an extra gear I normally didn't have, not sure if the shoe was making my effort easier or what. They felt so good I ended up using them in the marathon and set a PR with a negative split on the back half of the marathon. My feet and body have never felt better after a full marathon. Great work with this shoe!
I'm a trainer at Orangetheory Fitness. I do HIIT workouts 4/5 times a week along with running outside and lifting. I ran in these during the workout today and absolutely loved them. So comfortable and light. I own the Epic Reacts as well and while I like them, they have nothing on the Turbos. They fit wide in the toe box but still feel locked down in the heel and throughout the foot. I prefer my runners to fit tighter so I went a half size down. I think there might have been a little too much room had I gone true to size because of the wide toe box. Can't speak on the durability although your supposed to exchange your runners every 6 months anyways, depending on how much you use them. I'm going to have to stock up on these! Thanks Nike. Btw, the new ad with Kap is awesome. Keep it up!
I've worn a lot of Nike runners/trainers in my life and this is far and away the most comfortable pair I've ever put on my feet.
The react and zoom x come together to form a pillow for your feet. The zoom x is very soft while the react in the bottom of the heel gives you responsiveness. One thing about the soles, the midsole gets dirty easily and also creases a lot, and the outsole does not seem very durable. I would be concerned about the longevity of these for outdoor running but I plan to use these as walking shoes. Maybe it will hold up though who knows.
The upper is dual mesh which is gonna be a pain to keep clean but should also be more durable. The shoe breathes decently and the tongue is big but not uncomfortable. As far as visuals, this colorway is definitely eye-catching with the big lateral swoosh and centered racing stripe. I think it looks and feels like a futuristic shoe.
Bottom line: if you are somebody who is on your feet for many hours a day, or you're looking for a comfortable walking shoe or a stylish runner, you should buy these. Your feet will thank you.
I was a little worried at how little room there was in the toe box but after a couple of wears i'm glad I went true to size. Had to size up in the Epic react but went true in this shoe. One of the comfiest cushioning set ups I've ever worn and the sneaker is extremely light. I prefer to use this shoe for lifestyle wear but it performs well too. Looks great too. Lots of compliments.
I am a female 47 years old runner and these shoes are the best running shoes I’ve had in a long time, they are very comfortable, soft and and lightweight. They are perfect for my flat feet. I usually struggle finding the perfect shoe, but these were absolutely amazing I can’t wait to buy them in every color!
First time trying the Pegasus series, very impressed. Overall a neutral feeling shoe, I’m a neutral pronator and mid foot striker, and I felt like the shoe supported me. The zoomx foam definitely felt very unique, not as bouncy as ultraboost but felt dense yet slightly springy, and still allowing a good feel of the ground, not overly cushioned. I already train in flyknit free for short runs and Epic React for longer runs, but the Pegasus Turbo provides a really nice run.
LOOKS - If you want a shoe that stands out in the crowd, this is definitely it. The thick bold stripe up the toe box/tongue is aesthetically pleasing and I can foresee some slick colorways down the road. The mesh uppers and visible flywire along with the oversize swoosh make this one a winner. 5 Stars
FIT/FEEL - These shoes run true to size with zero break in time required. They're very light weight and extremely comfortable. As others have already mentioned, the cushioning around the collar does build up some heat which isn't ideal for those mid-summer runs. 4.5 Stars
PERFORMANCE - It may be a little early for me to rank this one as I only have 30 miles on them, but so far I'm pleased with the results. These shoes aren't going to make you run faster, jump over bridges, etc. However, I think what you will see is less fatigue on those longer runs. 5 Stars
VALUE - Overpriced. Period. Retail for this shoe should be somewhere around the $150 range. 3 Stars
OVERALL - Nike did a great job marketing this shoe. Lots of hype and anticipation which I immediately fell for. I love where they're going with this shoe and expect enhancements with future versions. 4 Stars
I love these shoes especially for long runs and tempos but the uppers are way too thick and hot. I hope they develop a more minimal version of this shoe in the future. A flyknit or zoomfly sp upper with the turbo sole would be amazing.
Peg 32's were the first shoe I started running with. 33's were a major upgrade and the 34's were just a different style. Tried the Hoka Clifton 3's and they were too soft. I had to send back my 35's as the toe box was too wide for me. Took a chance with the 35 Turbo's and WOW! So light and just the right cushion without the gel inserts I use with my 33/34's. Grip in wet weather is very good as I did not feel unstable at any time, unlike previous versions. Size is true as I tried a half size down and were too tight. $180 price is a little steep, but well worth it. I cannot go back to my arsenal of 33/34's now, so I'll have to wear these shoes out and wait until the price comes down to buy another pair or two.
I’ve bought two pairs of these and at first glance they are great shows to run in. They make runs feel a lot faster and provide good cushion. But after two weeks both pairs midsole has seperated between the two foams it’s made out of. For 180 dollars you’d think they would last a little longer than a few weeks.
First I haven't been a fan of Nike for long time. That being said the Zoom Fly change my running and has been a great shoe for me. I can get a pair of 4% due to availability and cost. I just picked up the Pegasus Turbo and while it is different than the Zoom Fly I did feel that it will make a valuable addition to my shoe quiver. I did a short 4 mile run to start and felt immediately that the shoe is soft but does allow for some pop of the ground. I did not feel fatigue of the feet and legs but did nm noticed that I have to push off more than the Zoom Fly (the carbon infused midsole does help). I have been looking for a new shoe that is soft but also responsive. The last and stiffness of the zoom fly for me only allows me to run in the shoes. These I can also wear to work and the gym. Overall, great shoe with good qualities, soft, responsiveness, and light. Down side is the cost. $180 is a step price for shoes. I most likely will not buy another pair at this price. Cost knocks the shoe down one whole star!!!
Great training shoes that make hard workouts fun. Would be really perfect if...
Toebox of the outer mesh is slightly wider and the upper is more breathable.
While regular Peg 35 Men's size 9 fits perfectly, it feels tight around the sides of my big toe and small toe at toe off. The outer mesh and the center strip seem to block the winds and making my feet hotter in steamy hot weather.
Otherwise it's perfect for hard workouts and long runs.
If Nike can make a running sneaker that's more comfortable all around, I would really be impressed, but that's really a tall task. THESE SNEAKERS ARE AMAZING! The energy that you receive back from the sneakers is just fantastic. The epic react is comfortable as well, but a different type of comfort. Please hurry and product more colors, I am a fan!
honestly this might be the best Nike runner in a long time, they are very light, extremely breathable and give pretty of room if you have wider feet. Just for a size reference if you have Epic Reacts, I would get the same size. I used these are two days now and I am amazed with how great this sneaker is. I would strongly recommend these to anyone who is willing to pay the $180 for them.
These Pegs are so amazing for any runner aiming to feel as comfortable as possible on longer runs, tempos, and even daily training miles. Since I've gotten them Ive put almost 100 miles of road, a little track work, and some gravel trails. I have no complaints other than the fact that the upper feels a bit bulkier than the peg 35's but Everything else in the shoe is perfect!!
I got a pair on pre-release. I have about 30 miles on them. They are very comfortable to run it, but its instantly apparent that the explosive personality of the Vaporfly 4% is due to the carbon plate, not this foam. I would consider the first run or 2 in these shoes to be throwaways, I found the ZoomX foam only to take a little getting used to, my foot really seemed to settle into the sole on landings. Once you get used to it, they're pretty good shoes. The toebox has lots of room in it, they didnt get uncomfortable over a 14 mile run. I think these shoes are good trainers. You could easily run a race in them and be fine, but if you've ever run in the Vaporflys, these are going to be a little letdown unless you consider that their purpose is for training, not racing. Durability is up in the air at the moment. The rubber nubs on the sole are already showing some wear despite the shoes only being 2 weeks old. The foam may survive, but Im not sure how much of the sole will be left. Time will tell....
Very uncomfortable shoes in the front, and not as expected for performance... very poor comparing to the 4% and zoom fly. I had to return these shoes after my first run. Great design and very good material/fabric.
Nike was kind enough to provide me with a pair of these before the official release date. I'd echo some of the other comments here - the shoes look large but feel light. I've done a few short runs (~5k) and three medium distance runs (5-8 miles) and the shoes have performed very well. I don't feel like I'm running with any bulk around my feet. In addition to feeling great, the shoes have a very strong look to them as well. I wish the racing stripe down the middle had a customizable color but that's a minor complaint. Great shoe.
This is my first review, so it'll involve rambling, so I apologize in advance. After about 40 miles I'm still trying to figure out if I enjoy these as much as the Lunar Epic 2s and RN Distance (why did you stop making those!?!! gah! my fave!)
As soon as you slip them on about halfway you can tell how amazing the cushioning is. I was worried about the toe box, but it stretches and breaks in during your first run and haven't had a problem with it being too tight.
You definitely have to tighten the laces pretty good otherwise I felt like my foot was sliding within the shoe a little TOO much. Again, not a problem, just something I adapted to. My first run was a 7 miler with hills, and rollies. They are nice shoes to run in. Harder than the lunar epic 2s in my opinion, but very light and frankly felt cool running in them.
I don't FEEL the bounce back that was advertised, but maybe that's the point? I run about 120-150 miles a month and times have held steady - though the recent NH humidity has been terrible, so maybe I actually am doing better than I think.
Style wise they are beautiful colors and I get compliments constantly. I gave them 4 stars b/c: a)i'm not done deciding if these will work for me and my particular feet b)I'm not sure they are worth the $180 price tag. c)I miss the 4mm offset of the original rn distance
I will give them a good work out the next week and then decide if I need to return them - at this point I am leaning toward keeping them.
May be the best running shoes I have ever worn. Was in love from the first stride. Feels like I'm 20 years younger--there may be a few rounds left in these old legs just yet. Hard part will be not wearing them on every single run. Will complete long runs of Chicago marathon training in these, and for race day it will be a hard choice between the Turbos and Zoom Flys.
Wow, I got this early as part of the Nike Plus App release. First look was wow a big shoe, but light. Took it out for a spin and came back with my fastets mile and 5k time Next Day fastest 10k time! So this looks to be a new favorite in the collection!
