Features: The updated KÜHL RENEGADE CARGO CONVERTIBLE PANT opposes conventional thought to deliver superior performance, comfort and style. Cut from innovative DURALUX, the durable softshell fabric feels like cotton to the touch. Stronger, more breathable, and boasting superior anti-abrasion and quick dry properties, DURALUX with DWR outperforms standard nylon and provides UPF 50 sun protection. The patented, innovative STEALTH zip-off system eliminates the fabric flap while keeping the zipper running smoothly and efficiently. The gusseted crotch and full fit allow freedom of movement, while the waistband is slightly peached for increased wicking performance, faster drying time and unmatched comfort.
Mesh pockets provide ventilation, and compartment pockets inside the large cargo pockets keep valuables secure and organized. Easy care, wash and wear make the RENEGADE CARGO CONVERTIBLE PANT your go-to choice.
I'm buying these this afternoon but I'm compelled to address those who feel negatively about the price. I challenge you to find a tailor/seamstress who can match the quality of these pants for the same price point. I'll save you the time and effort, it is not possible. The amount of time is difficult to imagine.
Loved my Kuhl Renegade Convertible pants in the past. When I first found these pants the Journey song - the search is over - came rushing through my head. I had finally found the perfect pair of pants. I wore these pants to work, hiking, church, etc.. I should have purchased 10 pairs at that time. So disappointed in the change to the fabric and more narrow cut around the convertible zipper. I currently own three pairs. Five of the six legs have broken zippers. Two of the three pairs can only be worn as shorts now. I liked the old version of these pants so much better than my Prana's and 511's, which were received as gifts. But I have no issues with either of those two brands. I hope Kuhl sends me an email in the future with the good news that the old fabric and fit have been restored, and the zipper issue has been resolved.
Convertible pants always seem like a good idea, but the execution always seems flawed. Legs you can't get off over your shoes. Pants that just aren't comfortable. No cargo pockets. None of that applies to these pants. KUHL have thought these pants all the way through, and it shows. They are easy to move in, comfortable as pants or shorts, and easy to get the legs on and off. The pockets are well sized - large enough to carry around the things I want cargo pockets for, but not so big they hang up on everything. Worth the cost of entry.
I've been wearing these style pants for about 4 years now, and I love them. They are very comfortable, stylish, and can be worn out in the city as much as they can out in the country. They are mildly hydrophobic and have lasted over the years. I often get compliments on my Kuhl gear, and with people asking me what they are and where they can get them. Highly recommend.
No only are they a good fit but these pants get complements from my friends. Love them easy to move in, comfortable, fast drying and very easy to pack. Two pairs of these and I can go for weeks. They dry over night when hand washed. Then still look fantastic. Love this brand.
I bought 2 pair of RENEGADE™ CARGO CONVERTIBLE pants. One Recco and and the other not. The pants are both comfortable and fit great.
The design of the leg zippers appear to be identical. The legs on both pants zip off fine. Reattaching the legs is difficult. So far, I’ve only done it in my house with warm fingers and it’s hard. In the cold after a day of hiking it may sometimes be impossible to reattach them.
When mating the two zipper parts it’s hard to known when they are seated correctly and it is ok to pull. It’s hard to get them correctly mated too. The result is a split zipper which needs to be wrestled apart. I tried this with the pants on and with the pants off and had the same problem. Initially I was hoping that it would be easy to get the right angles and power with the pants off.
With practice and warm fingers I think I will get the hang of it but I don’t think I’ll use either pair of pants in the shoulder backpacking seasons when I may want to zip off and zip on the pant legs.
Minor comment is that the zippers are not marked or color-coded to make it easier to match the right and left pant legs together.
These pants are great and very versatile. The fabric is a little on the stiff side but maybe it’ll soften with repeated washing (BTW I couldn’t find wash care instructions anywhere on the pants - I’ve been machine washing cold and hang drying and it seems ok).
Only complaint is that they don’t breathe super well. I’ve been using them as climbing pants and although they feel a little baggy on the lower leg, that hadn’t caused issues.
These pants are super comfortable and come in 36" inseam - important as I am 6'7" and not a fan of the high-water look. Lots of well-designed pockets to keep your things handy and secure when you're moving around.
This is a fit issue. I am a long-time fan of Kuhl. I have owned four pair of the Liberators. I bought the Renegade convertible and found that it was super baggy all over. I felt like I had big bags on both legs. Also the super long front drop put the crotch down by the knees.
If you like the Kuhl product please continue to purchase but not directly from manufacturer. The return policy and procedure is not easy or a friendly experience with customer service. Use other retailers such as REI were they focus on the customer experience and satisfaction.
I have 9 pairs of these pants I wear them everyday for work. I bought my first pair about 2.5 years ago. They hold up very well I can’t tell which pair are the oldest. They dry quick and look nice. I have 4 pairs in the koal color which get worn the most they match all my shirts.
These pants are just plain Awesome! I use them for hiking, outdoors adventure and traveling. They dry quickly and are very tough, yet extremely comfortable. They look great too as pants or shorts. I love them so much I bought multiple pairs in different colors.
Excellent. Only suggestion is to make the zipper security pocket deeper to accommodate iPhone. Could have used a second zippered security pocket on the right side as well. But... very happy with the product
The Renegade™ Cargo Convertible trouser are superb, the quality of the material and the feel also the design are a class in their own right. An excellent fit with plenty of leg and crotch movement and decided to wear them for my work as they are suitable as well as trekking in the mountains, worth the money and KUHL have definitely impressed me once again, WELL DONE
I wore these for a week while I was hiking Philmont Scout Ranch with the Boy Scouts ...these pants are awesome! Quick to dry when they get wet and extremely comfortable. These pants took a beating over the 10 day trek and still look as good as they did the day I bought them. I highly recommend them.
Purchased my third pair. Still great design & construction. Some small changes from prior years' model - material is lighter and the inner waist button and tongue were removed (personally wish it had not been).
Ordered on the recommendation of a coworker, I’m very pleased with the pants..extremely comfortable. And the convertible option for them makes it convenient on these Texas summer days. I will be wearing them when I go to Philmont Scout Ranch at the end of the month. I’ll be buying more in the future.
Kuhl convertible pants are by far the best I’ve own hands down. Great materials and workmanship make this brand stand out amongst the others I have purchased in the past. I will most definitely buy this brand again.
