I’ve had them for a couple weeks now and they’re a great shoe. The speedroll geometry is apparent as soon as you put them on, it’s a shoe that wants to go quick. The ride is responsive but not hard and the foam is nice and springy. Overall they’re a great pair of shoes and I look forward to logging a lot of miles in them. The only reason I dinged a point in quality is even after a couple weeks they still smell strongly of adhesive.
I've only had the Endorphin Speeds for a couple weeks, but loved them right away. I normally run in Kinvaras, but 50 miles/week mostly on paved roads, at age 50, was getting to be too much pounding on my legs. I tried Nike Zoom Fly to get more cushioning on my longer runs and liked them a lot (and they lasted for 500 miles) but the Endorphins are better.
The Endorphin Speed is an excellent mix of light weight & significant cushioning, and they immediately have become my go-to shoe for hard workouts and long runs. I got some calf soreness for a couple days as I transitioned, likely because the Endorphins are much stiffer than the Kinvaras (and I transitioned too quickly because I liked them so much), but no issues with fit or comfort. I hope they don't wear out too quickly because purxhase price is the only negative about these shoes. They are excellent!
I have not worn these shoes in the past but bought them because I enjoy running at night. When they first arrived I was a little skeptical of such a large foam cushion sole. Also, when I put them on the first time the toe seemed a touch narrow. However, when I started running and the shoe started to truly mold to my foot I was a believer. I am a muscular 220 lbs and the extra foam cushion sole has been amazing, reducing the pressure and pounding. It is enough cushion to reduce the impact with the ground, but not to much where it altered your stride in any way.
What can I say, this is my first pair of Sauconys and I'm absolutely in love with them. The foam is very reactive and this shoe is like a Swiss army knife, you wanna go fast BAM, wanna take it easy ? Works just as fine. Overall I love this shoe and makes my daily runs fun.
If you want a shoe that can do just about anything, this is it. Just look at other reviews on YouTube as well. It is light, fast, ideal for a tempo run with the stack height to go some distance. It is a firm foam, more true to Saucony, so I think in both this model and the Pro you have to be ready for that if you choose it for a long run or Half to Full Marathon. This is a great choice for a high end racing shoe on a budget, or just an all around amazing shoe for training rotation. Only thing I wish it had, for me, was a tiny bit softer midsole for the comfort, but still responsive foam like some competitors at the highest end. That is just personal preference in feel for Marathon racing. It does not take a way for how this shoe works, how it feels for the right workouts. Overall best bang for your buck!
I was expecting a lot from this shoe when I ordered it and it did not let me down. The lockdown is perfect and the cushioning is spot on, and the energy return makes me feel 10 years younger. My first track workout with these had me running easily at a pace fast enough for a new PR and the ride gets smoother the faster you run. This masters runner has found a new favorite! The Vizipro color and reflectivity is also great since I run at 5am most mornings.
I heard a lot of good things about this shoe online. It seemed like I didn't have to worry weather or not it was going to be a good shoe. I wear 11.5 men's and my foot is very slightly wider than medium. The shoe feels so good on foot. I went out to do a practice 6 mile run in preparation for my 6 mile time trial. I blew my original practice time out of the water without trying. I only was out to get a feel for the shoe too. The shoe has a squish, bounce, role to it. Definitely worth 160. The price is a little intimidating but you very quickly forget about the price once you slide one of these babies on your feet and get going. This shoe is a specimen. Thank you Saucony for this wonderful creation. Please, don't hesitate to sent me a pair of something else to write about. 😉
I wrote a much longer review with lots of data, but Saucony hasn't uploaded it, so maybe it was too long. Long story short - these feel very different than anything you've had before, so give it some time to get used to it, but they are comfortable. On both tempo runs and regular runs, I'm finding about a 4% advantage (either same pace / lower HR or same HR / faster pace) - translating to about a 20s/mi difference compared to my Kinvaras. Although some people have complained about the new coloring (I have the Vizi style), they are VISIBLE - neon in the daytime and tons of reflective features in dusk/night.
They look great and they run great and I would recommend them, however for me they give me knee pain due to lack of stability. I discovered that stability shoes work better for me after running in these shoes. Very sad about this because they are a great shoe and I wish they’d worked out.
Just got these today and did my first run! They felt great and the run felt easier, but that’s subjective. I do have hard data though…
About me: 53 year old male, 6’2”, 183#. Running for 12 years – 4 marathons, tons of HMs and tris, training for an Ironman now. Tend to be in the top 10-20% of my age group for HMs. For below, my zone 4 starts at a HR of 155.
About my run: I do speedwork on the treadmill about once a week (so I don’t slow down lest I fall off the back!) Lately this has been 1 mile warmup at 10:00/mi then 4 straight miles at 8:00/mi for 42:00 total.
About the conditions: absolutely identical each time – same workout, treadmill, temperature, shorts, time of day, breakfast, weight, even the same playlist (Van Halen!!) First three runs below were in Saucony Fastwitch. Last one was the brand new Endorphin Speed
Heart rate data: 8/14 – avg 147, max 163, >Z3 39% 9/1 – avg 152, max 174, >Z3 51% 9/18 – avg 150, max 167, >Z3 55% 9/23 – avg 146, max 160, >Z3 24%
I have my opinion about how to interpret the data but won’t say more so you can draw your own conclusions. :-) If as I get more data I feel it changes the interpretation, I’ll update this post.
The Endorphin Speed checks all the boxes when it comes to a daily trainer that’s also a beast. Very light and breathable upper that is snug on the foot. The midsole is extremely responsive and the plate combined with the speedroll technology make for a truly fast ride. All in all the endorphin speed is an incredible shoe that packs the punch of a racer into the form and confort of a trainer.
Use these shoes for my long runs and speed workouts. This shoe is a must-buy! It wants you to go fast, it's amazing and the comfort along that is spectacular. I will forever as long as I can wear the endorphin collection. I can't wear any other shoe now. I have the speeds and shifts. Both work great together. My long runs are so fun. You can easily run a 6:40 pace with an ease for 15 miles. :) also if you have bad knees, you should definitely buy the speeds and possibly the ednorphins too for recovery :) endorphin forever!! I'm want saucony to make "endorphin speeds spikes" that have the same speed roll technology and still to be light. That would be great to have for college track races or even cross country as well. Just an idea Saucony ;)
First pair of Saucony shoes I've owned. Love this shoe. Super lightweight with responsive yet cushioned ride. Think Rincon with a little more bounce. I have to hold myself back. for grabbing these everyday. Plan on running my next marathon in these. I can see why it's hard to find these shoes in stock.
I run 50-60km a week and I use 5 different running shoes in my rotation. The endorphin speed is by far my favorite one and my go to shoe when ever I want to have fun. Long run's, speed, tempo day , this shoe can handle partially anything. Good job Saucony.
I purchased the Speed along with the Freedom 3 as I’m transitioning from summer training to cross country in-season training, meaning I’m doing a lot more speed work. I’ve been an avid member of the saucony squad since my diary years of XC and a particular fan of the freedom with its ample cushioning while having only a 4mm drop. I was excited when I heard the speed was coming out, but was disappointed when I read that it had an 8mm drop. After some talks with some friends of mine at the show store I bought from though, I came to the decision that the speed roll geometry would make up for the extra heel height while I still am trying to land mid-foot in my runs. I bought a size down (13) from my typical size in freedoms 1 and 2 (14), and when I first put the speed on I felt the hype immediately. The bounce, cushion, and energy return was the best I had ever felt. My first few runs (varying from 4-10 miles) were exceptional, and I believe can adequately prove that there’s next to zero exaggeration when it comes to this shoe’s advertisement. As it turns out my friend at the store was half right about speed roll geometry making up fro the stack height. While I can still feel a noticeable difference when walking, stretching, or the very beginnings of my runs I can only really feel the 8mm moving me slightly away from mid foot if I really think about it, so I still land mid foot, keeping my cadence correct and saving me from injuries. I never expected it to feel as level as the freedom, but it it 100% better than I feared 8mm would be. While I will still be looking forward hopefully toward a 4mm version or a freedom with a Pebax based cushion (powerrunPB), the endorphin speed does far more than just finefor now, and if you are accustomed to 8mm I’m willing to bet the speed will feel even better to you than it did to me(already pretty amazing)The whole feeling of running in the speed reminds me of and makes me feel worthy of the line from “Chariots of Fire”: “Those few young men with hope in our hearts and wings on our heels.”
I have super wide feet and so that is why I got a half size up, but man the comfort of this shoe is incredible. I even had a blister on the back of my heel and I didn’t even feel it running. It is also incredible how effortless my runs feels with the speed. I truly love this shoe and am hoping that it will last me hundreds of miles. This shoe is super adaptable when you want to go fast, you go fast and if you want to chill, you chill (in comfort in all speeds). Saucony hooked me good on this shoe and can’t wait to try out the peregrine 10s!
Love the shoe. I do Half Ironmans and this shoe is perfect for the training and the half marathon racing. Love the heel cup feel, very responsive shoe and for a bigger runner (182lbs) the shoe has the comfort i want. Mainly used for tempo runs, negative runs and minute on minute off runs.
The Endorphin Speed would absolutely be it! I do have all 3 of the new Endorphin shoes, the Shift, Speed, and the Pro. Out of the Endorphin lineup, this one took me by surprise. Such an enjoyable ride from the Powerrun+ midsole to the fiber plate. This shoe just wants to go fast with minimal effort, and the legs feel great after any run I have done in them. I do find I can load the fiber plate much easier in the Speed than the carbon plate of the Pro, to where this shoe has overnight become my goto shoe. The Speed can do it all from slow days, tempo days, long runs, and I am positive race days as well. I plan on picking up another pair as the Mutant White colorway becomes available in my size again, or even if it doesn't, I am picking up another set of the Speeds. This shoe is a match made in heaven, and I absolutely love the Speed and is my perfect running shoe!
I have the speed and the pro and they compliment each other perfectly the pro always pushes tou to go fast and it feels amazing its perfect amount of cushioning And responsiveness. Honestly best running shoe i have ever had.. i love the speed for the simple fact thats its identical to the pro except one key feature it always you to run slower when you want too.. that might sound odd however when you don't want to set a pr and u wamt to cruise the speed makes that ok. And thats why I say the spees and the pro compiment each other perfectly.. i am glad I own them both and will buy every pair they make for both models going forward great work saucony customer for life
Great feel while running long or short distances! Looks great with terrific comfort being very light. Bought this after using Liberty ISOs for year & half. Loved my Liberty ISOs, these are lighter & better feel.. am able to maintain good timing for my runs with minimum effort! Thank you Saucony!
I’ll break my comfort rating down to something meaningful. Width and length = 1/5, toe box shape = 2/5 cushion = 5/5, tongue = 2/5, ride = 5/5. Buy a half size up. This shoe may not work if you have a low volume foot like mine. I have a wide toe box, but shallow foot and there is too much height on the toe box. I end up with that annoying wrinkle of fabric on the top of my toes. They are incredibly light to the point where I almost feel like I lost my shoe between each foot strike. When you do land, they really propel you forward. The cushion under foot is like nothing I’ve run on. I highly recommend you try them on to understand the feeling before you buy them. Some people may feel like it’s a bit unstable until you get moving with a higher cadence and less ground contact. If they fit my foot better I think I would be in love, alas... shoe companies seem to believe that once you go over size 12 your foot magically gets fat and needs a bunch of extra fabric to compensate. Oh, and replace the laces before you even get going.
I ordered the Saucony Speeds because I was looking for a lighter tempo shoe to add to my rotation. This shoe is so versatile! It can be used for workouts, daily running, and even racing. I've been so impressed with this shoe that I'm having to resist the urge to grab it on my slower recovery days because this shoe just urges you to run faster. So far my avg. pace is about 20-30 seconds per mile faster at about the same effort.
Another plus is that it's perhaps the coolest looking shoe I've ever seen. Saucony has really outdone itself with the design of this shoe. The upper is fantastic and I really hope Saucony starts to implement similar uppers across all their shoes.
Bravo Saucony, this shoe is a step in the right direction and makes me excited to see what future innovations they can come up with.
