Really disappointed that NONE of the zippers are two way. I'm 90% an on foot ice fisherman so I'd love these if I could dump heat while on the move. Also, the chest zip should be two way because I don't want to dump all my retained heat just to relieve myself. Not amused I have to open my parka and then my bibs to do so. Otherwise I'm very satisfied.
The bibbs are comfortable and warm in SC where I live. The reason I did not give them a 5 star is the trouble I have peeing with them on. If my penis was located at my navel , it would not be a problem or if God had had other design plans for me, which did not happen, unfortunately. IMO, the zipper needs to be longer. Not sure why the review says 4XL, I am 6 ft and weigh 175-180; the medium size fits me perfectly . The quality is what I have come to expect from Simms-excellent. Highly recommend them.
Bibs are very light weight and warm, for the price I’d really like to see some waterproof zippered chest pockets for cellphone and other stuff, I’m 6ft tall 185lbs and the medium fits really well just a hair to short but are bearable, that being said the reinforced knee area is a little short as well when I kneel down they pull up nearly over my knees making them almost useless. Bigger reinforcement area and pads would fix this.
Zippered chest pockets and bigger reinforced knee area these would be perfect.
Extremely happy. Warm, very lightweight, and nice features. Be careful not to upsize...
These are great! Very warm and very lightweight. I just used them 1 week on the boat in below freezing weather, wind, and snow in MN. Water beads off pretty well but I did not use in rain. This years "model" has the reinforced seat and although not described, still has the internal removable knee pads - great! The zipped leg and snap/velcro gaiter make putting these on or off with big hunting boots extremely easy. Another change seems to be the upper back attached to the straps is designed different which may improve over stretching of elastic. The straps over shoulders are very secure and did not slip at all. These will replace my bulky ice bibs.
A nice to have is a zipper to go upward from the crotch. The styling and color would be nice if it were available in the gray like previous year or did something a little more with coloring. I find the all black a little generic looking for the price but maybe this is more popular? I also find no information about the change to Primaloft® Rise or what this is compared to previous Primaloft products used.
As for SIZING, I called Simms and spoke with someone who advised me to upsize for the longer inseam -- I found this ill advised after ordering online and wearing. I have to return a Large from 1 online retailer and bought a Medium from another in-store retailer while on my trip -- not easy to find yet. I am 6' 185 lbs (32 waist). Large was too long with boots on and I was swimming in the chest. Medium was a MUCH better fit for length (inseam) and a better fit in the chest. They build plenty of space into these to be able to move with layering. I layered with underlayers, heavy sweatshirt, and rain coat on my uppers with no problem. I hope this helps.
Medium size shown and layered underneath. Great fit for 6' 185 lbs (32 waist)
Good quality. I have been using Simms gear for 15 years. From flyfishing in Alaska to Missouri or catching bass in the Ozarks in tournaments, the gear is top notch. These are no different. Just ordered the insulated bibs.
