Bought almost 3 years ago and still kicking. Fished and worked in them hundreds of times (fish biologist). Waders can develop leaks after 5 seconds if you step in barbed wire. Mine are covered in vinyl patches and aqua seal, but the seams dont leak and booties are dry. Mine live in my trunk and will continue to...as long as you maintain your waders a little bit they will stick with you. Only wish that Simms would make some waders you dont get shocked in while electrofishing!
I bought these waders in March 2020, my third simms product. By the end of summer 2020 I had numerous pin holes in them and was getting wet legs after being on the water. Needless to say I was disappointed. I thought paying $300 for waders would guarantee me 3-4 years at least. I contacted simms and voiced my displeasure. They advised me to fill out the wader repair form and send them back for analysis. I had tried to fix the pinholes myself and figured simms would just fix the ones I missed and send my waders back to me. To my surprise and delight, they sent me an email relatively fast and told me they would be sending me a warranty replacement. I received a brand new pair about a week later. That is how you win a customer's business for life. Thank you Simms!
I am on my 3rd pair. I seem to get about 2 years before they start leaking at the seams. The only reason I keep buying them is they fit better out of the box better then other brands. Just wish they would hold up better.
Good product only used 1time so far. Did great till I lost my footing and went under 😆. They filled water was cold but boat was only a few feet away. Not the waders fault they felt great up until that point. I also brought the simms wade boots. These if you have a big foot like I do don't fit well snug. I bought them to wear with stocking of wader. Thats not happening. I would need a 14 wade boot I believe. Waders move with you well not to baggy or tight just right on my fit. I got XXL 12 13. Im 5'11" 235 shoe size 12 13.
Really love these waders. Nicely designed. Great quality. Extremely comfortable. Fit like a glove. I am 6.2" and the sizing chart was perfect. I hadn’t bought waders in a while but these are phenomenal after 3 trips out.
Purchased a LL 9-11, not the XXL that the automated review system indicates. I am 6'2" and 185lbs with a 34 inch inseam. One more inch in the inseam on these LLs would make them perfect. Based on 6 outings to date I have to say these are very good waders. They are definitely a step up from the Caddis waders I last used. I feel comfortable recommending them.
held up well in the 6 mile hike/fishing trail. light weight easy to manuver. Kept warm in the water. dries out fast, ready to go the next morning. i like the pocket in front, had a couple hand warmers in it. dont cheat on your measurements. next test is in two weeks when the tempuarture drops below 32...
Loved these waders for almost two seasons. Got them in Spring 2019 and halfway through the 2020 season they started leaking in both knees. Really disappointing from a company with the reputation of Simms. These will likely be my last pair.
I'm very disappoined. Bought them as the backup. Started to leak in three different spots on second use. I hope I will get full refund. Although I like design and color. Too bad materials and craftsmanship are very poor.
Have only used them 2 dozen times so I don’t have much to say about durability. But they are very comfortable and very true to size. I’d say it’s way worth it to order direct from the company to get the precise sizing rather than the generic S,M,L,XL.
Love them!! There a bit baggie at the waist and could use more length on the shoulder straps but fit good and will use them for years to come. Really like how durable they are walking through the back country.
Stop looking for waders anywhere else. Simm’s is the company you want if your waders need warranty. It does not matter which style of wader you choose, this company is the best. Oh, by the way I have used the freestone style of wader since 1994. I fish in southeastern Minnesota with lots of barb wire fences, lots of dead fall trees, lots of things that will puncture your waders. I walk 5 to 15 miles on each fishing trip. These waders are tough and dry. They are easy to walk in and stand up to th elements. If they fail this company will take care of you. Buy them, don’t look any more, start fishing and enjoying these great waders.
I've worn these 4X in the salt fly rodding for spring stripers, cold water, cold wind, no complaints.
I am 6'1", 195# with a 34" inseam. I had ordered the Large waders but had to return them for the Large Long as the legs were just not long enough. I am a skinny leg guy and these still seem a little tight for me.
I am impressed with the fit & finish of these waders: the suspenders are close to the right size so there's no extra material flopping around, the same for the belt, the gravel guards stretch out to the first laces on my wading boots and don't seem to be over-stretched.
I sprung for the cell phone wader pouch - I like that I can reject calls and emails from my office and family without having to take it out of the pouch. It would be better if it was transparent on both sides so you could unzip it from your waders but leave it in the pouch & take pictures.
Now I just need to get them covered with fish slime....
No complaints with these waders. They fit well, allow for easy movement and layering underneath. I have worn them on 30 degree cold winter days and 65 degree sunny days. They kept me warm on cold days, and breathable on hot days. I took a fall and filled my waders, after turning them inside out, they dried off quickly, and I could get back on the water. Really well designed
High quality waders and the fit is nice except for stocking size. Stocking length runs a tad shorter than other brands. Wearing thicker socks under the waders is an issue. I am 6 feet 185 lbs, size 10.5 shoe and a 31” inseam. I ordered the Large, Short .
Extremely comfortable and flexible. Most of my time is spent fishing from a drift boat or hiking the shoreline...much better than a bootfoot wader, and surprisingly warmer than expected when in the water winter steelheading.
I try to fish once a week as well as getting in about two to three one week trips a year. This is my second pair of the Freestone waders. The first pair lasted 8 years. I find them to be comfortable and durable. When these wear out, I’ll probably get another pair.
I tried on several brands of waders at the retailer. This is my first pair of stocking foot waders and was not sure of how they should fit. The sales person was very knowledgeable. I am very pleased with the selection I made. They are comfortable and performed as expected. They dry very quickly even in freezing temperatures.
Bought these as a Christmas present for my son. Only had these on the water once, but seem to be of good quality. The first thing I noticed about these waders was how thick the neoprene booties were. If they hold up with no leaks, I feel they will be worth the investment. The gravel guards are sufficient, and the size was perfect. My son is 6' 4" with a size 13 foot, and weighs about 180lbs.
I like these waders. I’ve used them for a season now. They fit me well. I am 5’11” and 195 lbs. I got a size large, and they are roomy enough to allow free movement without being excessively baggy. The feet fit well, big enough but not bunching up in my wading boots. While I haven’t abused them, I haven’t treated them with kid gloves, and after frequent use this season, I have no pinhole leaks.
This is my second set of Freestones. Simms made several changes that I think are improvements over the previous version. The new darker colors do not show dirt nearly as much as the previous light tan version. The wading belt is more substantial, and there are three belt loops, rather than the previous single one.
These are great waders for the price. The only complaint I have is that I wish that the pocket was waterproof, but to get waterproof you have to buy the accessory pocket that zips in.
I would certainly recommend these waders. Plus, you get Simms great customer service. They are fast and courteous, whether I have been asking questions or getting repairs.
I have these waders in the model before the most recent version (pictured ). I have absolutely beaten these waders so hard over the past 8 months and they haven't even shown a sign of a leak. From hours and hours on the water and hiking through thorns they have held up perfectly. The gravel guards do pick up dirt at the top seam over time (these are the older version) it looks like simms fixed this issue with the new version. Over all the quality of these waders for the cost exceeded my expectations. I will stay loyal to the Simms brand for my wader needs from here on out.
Pleased with these waders. They are comfortable and aren't showing any wear after a few months. The only complaint is that these run a little small for me - I am 6'4" with size 13 feet and bought the XL. My feet are a little long for the stockings and I wish the inseam was 1" longer.
Awesome waders with surprising new comfort. Very good mobility. This level of wader is getting pretty expensive but still worth the money so far. Used pretty hard for their first season and seem to be holding up very well.
I have owned 3 pairs of Simms waders over 20 years. I've also owned Dan Baily waders. I can tell you from experience that Simms waders work and last. Even chewed on by one of my dogs a couple of small holes patched up and lasted long enough to hand them down to my youngest son.
